Sittin' on the dock of the bay
Watchin' the tide roll away
I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay
Wastin' time

Second Thanksgiving Dinner. Unless the roads are super icy sad smiley

Day 2 of a 3 day weekend: I am doing a mountain of laundry, including bed linens and towels, took the trash out, and tackling the dishes. It's not even 11am!

Replaced a working sump pump before complete failure. How do you know it's on the way to failure? The current draw is higher than when it was new. A higher current draw typically means the bearings are old and rusty and the electric motor draws higher current to overcome the high friction of the rusty bearings.
Laundry, cooking and crafting Halloween and holiday hearts for people to find with my Mom. [www.ifoundaquiltedheart.com]
I went to weekly boardgaming club with a bunch of friends from 12-3, picked up Cook Out drive thru for my main meal since I hadn't eaten yet, currently doing a load of laundry and a load of dishes, then some reading about destinations on an upcoming vacation to find activities should it be raining. And I will have Sunday Night Football on in the background although I don't even know who will be playing.
Great mid-week day for PTO. Baby furry love chewed up my Uugs. Grrrr. I vacuumed and spin/scrubbed the living and dining room floors. Looking fabulus! Cooked and watched the Victoria Secret's fashion show with Mommy and 2 of my daughters. Loved the black and white show. Some fabulous bodies and beautiful outfits. Completed a financial shop that tooke me 50 minutes. Loving today.
Rally for public education and lunch with my oldest group of friends. Yes we talk about all our ailments and husbands' ailments grinning smiley

I came home on Friday ready to start my uneventful weekend. There was a car parked in front of my garage.

I didn't call the police. The officer would have called the person and written them a ticket. That was the right thing to do.

I called the sleazy tow company and had them towed. And I removed the cap from the valve stem just to be extra.

Then, I went inside to enjoy my evening.

Yikes @HonnyBrown.
I got to spend the day on Zoom for the substitute teacher conference. Useful but boring to have it on Zoom.

I went to a No Kings demonstration. Everyone there is deeply concerned about what is happening to the USA. No one had any hate in them. The policemen standing around were bored to tears because everything was so peaceful.
I went to visit my brother in the hospital ICU....
came home and made spanakopita.

Attempting to distract myself by binging on The Gilded Age.

Does anyone know how to renew a car registration when the current one is expired?

"I told myself to quit you; but I don't listen to drunks." -Chris Stapleton
In the states I've lived in, the state DMV office sends a renewal notice (online or by mail) before the expiration date in order to renew.
Alternatively, I now live in a state where I have an account online with the state govt for issues just like this one - my car, voting, etc. so I can go in and renew that way.
If I were you, i would go onto your state's website and search under vehicle registration and likely you will find directions there.

Your broken down ride would be the worst in the Special Olympics parking lot if you ever had the courage to go there to compete. Nuf said.

Insensitive remarks about the Special Olympics - well, there's no depth some won't stoop to. Whenever I see these sorts of comments, I am reminded that time and tides wait for no one.

Today? very exciting - grocery shopping, a trip to my storage unit, a hospital visit, maybe meeting a friend for pizza and glass of vino.
Speaking of cars and people...and investing:

GM is writing off a big chunk of it's electric vehicle investment and the stock is rising. "GM doesn’t anticipate tariff costs to be as steep as previously expected, and is also benefiting from higher prices." I've seen the stock at about $67/share. I bought GM stock along with Warren Buffet years ago at about $30-$36/share. He sold his not long after he bought the stock. I still have our shares. I ponder...should I sell now, or hold on?

Liberated enough to earn enough to pay to have my car maintenance done. I do many things for myself. Not that.

Today I'm joining other educators and writing to our Member of the Legislature of Alberta to address class sizes and classroom complexity.

Then a walk. Doing some hills while I'm near some. Very flat near my house.

Worked from home today. Empty nest. DH will be taking out for sure, LOL. Yesterday, I completed a nice high end reimbursement shop with a decent fee on my way home from work. Bought my first Christmas gift and only had to pay $30 out of pocket. So pleased and happy.
Laundry marathon and yard cleanup. Cleaned, dried and covered outdoor furniture. Select pieces were placed in the shed. Cut back my Mom's beautiful peony bushes. I thought about doing the same to Impatiens but am not (you think I would have learned by now). They never make it to next season and I am not potting them to put inside for the winter. We have a pumpkin patch that we did not grow. What we thought were zucchini plants turned out to be pumpkins. We have 37 pumpkins! Eight adorn our porch along with beautiful pots of Mums. I am hoping the rest come to ripeness/orange color so we may donate them all to DDs' alma mater elementary school's pumpkin patch. Neighbors will get some too! So much fun and wonder.
In Central CA:
Harvesting the last of the squashes, plus tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, potatoes, and last of the basil before it’s too cold for it. Garlic is next before planting for next year.
Hoping to enjoy greens a few tomatoes, and other herbs all winter if it’s mild enough.

Pumpkins are a variety of squash. If you have too many you can cut them up and freeze the flesh in cubes. I roast or braise them like butternut squash or blend into pulp for muffins and nutty breads.

I love serving them with similarly sautéed caramelized Brussels sprouts for savory colorful deliciousness.

Enjoy your harvest. I'm enjoying the onions and potatoes from the cold room, some green beans from the freezer, and the last of the garden carrots. All in some chicken chowder.
The tomatoes, cucumbers and peas are used up. Didn't get enough of those.

Working from home today and loving it. Did some laundry and will have a nice early night at home. Yesterday, one of DH's teacher friends asked if we would like Santa letters to fulfill. She works in the Public School system in a needy area as a Music teacher for 6-9 year olds. So I asked for one. So cute! This young 7 year old lady asked Santa for a Pink plushie, "labubu" doll (had to ask my DDs what they were and they knew right away, LOL) and a cute notebook. I can do this. DD's are going to partake as well. We are biased; they selected females.

Grey Cup today.
If we have a game snack it will be popcorn. I don't have energy for any other snacks.

I made cottage cheese truffles, to start Christmas baking. Petty tasty but not pretty grinning smiley
More healthyish than some treats.

Found a Christmas movie that seems a bit different than the rest.
Going to watch and attempt to get rid of stuff in bedroom.
