What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

WaWa has a new quesadilla each quarter. Last quarter was perogi. It was so weird that I had to try it!

It's mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese and caramelized onions between tortillas.

Their caramelized onions taste like plastic so I get salsa instead.

Oh, alright. All this talk of pierogi (Polish for pie, oh wonderful yumness!) has inspired me to open up the specialty cookbook I bought (wait for it) because I wanted real pierogi recipes. It is only a matter of time and weather until I make pierogi! Weather influences my work days. When I a free, the world will be a better place.

I have never had a pierogi. I will try them someday when I feel like a cooking adventure.
CQ, pierogis are comfort food, to say the least!

I've never made one from scratch. They sell them in the frozen food aisle with instructions on the box.
But, there are plenty of Northern Europeans around here who sell them in specialty shops if I want them fresh.
The frozen ones taste pretty good smiling smiley

Many moons ago when I lived in Philly, I had the pleasure of eating every single different cuisine and one of my favorite things were the ethnic fests that they had at Penn's Landing, right on the water. The best one ever was the Polish Fest and they had no less than 20 different pierogis, some fried, some pan seared, some baked, steamed....omg you get the idea. My boyfriend lives in the mecca of ethnic foods and I hate him for it LOL but I get some goodies. The Italian market by him makes the 2nd best pierogis I've ever had. Who knew?

Made tomato soup to go with the last of Sunday's leftovers (mushroom pate, crostini, and lemon cake with blueberry sauce). There's enough soup for another meal tomorrow but nothing to go with it, so I ran to the grocery store to get some good cheese for toasted cheese sandwiches.

JAS, I discovered pierogis when I lived in Michigan. A local coworker took the Philly folks to a restaurant that served duck blood soup and pierogies. I wouldn't try the soup.

We're supposed to get winter weather starting at noon, so I went to the hardware store and bought a hand towel rack for the bathroom and a mirror for the closet. Will install both this afternoon. On the way home I went to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and found a dresser I can repurpose into an entertainment center. If Hubby and I can't get it up the stairs into our condo I will put in a request to Youngest Son to stop by one day after work.

I am doing a mountain of laundry. The food bank is this week.

Searching high and low for a place to stay for vacation. It's problematic because the wife smokes and doesn't want to go outside. I have a feeling we will end up in a tent on the beach.
Returning from road trip. Hubby is driving; I am processing the events of the day. Tomorrow is the last planned work day before my next hiatus.

I don't like cleaning but I love vacuuming and look forward to firing the Shark up as soon as the spouse wakes today.

I spent some time this evening trying to help my granddaughter get the courage to take her first steps without holding on to something..... Not_quite_there yet, but she did stand, totally unsupported, for about ten seconds before she realized she wasn't being supported and immediately collapsed onto her bum.

Licking my wounds. I just had it pointed out that I screwed up a high end bath and kitchen shop yesterday. I misread TWO major guidelines. So much for helping out that scheduler by taking a low paying (below $20) assignment. I have no excuses.

So, I will brown some check and start pot roast, for tomorrow, in the slow cooker and then do overdue housework as penance.

It happens to us all.... Yesterday, I was doing a car wash shop and, as I was pulling my credit card from the kiosk, I dropped it. The card went under my car in heavy rain. I retrieved my card, but, in doing so, totally forgot to push the "I want a receipt button" on the kiosk.... I believe the "shop" will be fine - they don't need the proof of visit as it was video and I took a (required) picture of the front of the car wash. However, I am likely out the reimbursement. Yup, totally my fault. The editor can watch my stupidity on video.

You can come on over to my house when you're done.

Oh, that's awful. My husband smokes but I make him go outside. If it's raining or snowing, he will at least stand at the slider with his head out the door. Smoking in the house would be a big problem, one of us would have to move out.

Draggin' you-know-what here today. We have had too much work to do, crammed into a few loooooong days. That has been difficult to accomplish, but when I go on hiatus there will be time for sleep, naps, and doing something at home besides greeting the dust bunnies and reminding them that they are welcome to run the dishwasher when we are not at home...

And, I am planning my next day or two of in-town work. I will do those 'whenever'.

Today is homework and folding a mountain of laundry.

The HVAC repairmen can out yesterday. The last fix they did put me on expensive emergency heat. I am now back to normal.

I'm getting rid of the blond. It is way too much maintenance!

Wow! Yes, heat pump "emergency heat" is like heating by buying dollar bills in a fireplace!

Well it's non-negotiable for her. She refuses to go outside because she says it's her house too and she can smoke in it. I knew she smoked when we met and I did to then. I quit a few years ago but she still smokes. She would rather get a divorce than go outside because for her it's the principle of the thing. I don't actually care except I hate how it makes the walls and ceilings. I'm going to make her pay to repaint in a few months.
I did find several air bnb condos that allow smoking. I'd prefer a hotel room but that's not an option.

If it was my spouse I would say that they should be the one looking for the right place. But, one has to pick one's forays into such territory carefully.

Yeah. We decided to wait a couple of months and then I will choose the condo I want since I am doing the searching. That's how it works with me.

I can't believe you were able to do a car wash shop in heavy rain. The ones in my area say they have to be rescheduled in active wet weather.

I sold the last of the items I had listed on Facebook Marketplace-a set of Tupperware iced tea glasses in pastel colors (probably from the late 1980s). They had been shoved in the back of a cabinet in the old house and were in almost perfect shape.

I had to read the last sentence twice , because I thought it said "HE is way too..." and I thought to myself that I missed a juicy bit of info. lol =D

Exactly! I had the heat off and the space heater making my bedroom and bathroom comfy.

This is Seattle. If that were the case here, I'd be rescheduling for July.
