What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

If you go to Amazon for the weights, type "AmazonBasics Weights" in the search bar. That will bring up their brand. The Amazon brands are just as good but cheaper. I say this with my crock pot still in the box.

Are you sure 5 pound dumbbells will be heavy enough? I use 10-15#s for my upper body.

The heavier weights made it to the new house, but somehow the 5-pound one didn't. I don't know what Hubby uses them for, but my shoulders rebel if I use anything heavier.

Even Amazon doesn't have weights in stock!!!!

Similar here. Hub's birthday, Father's Day, our anniversary, all within three weeks. He's only asked for a lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, patio dining, with our kids and their dogs. They'll sit at one table, we'll sit at the next. This will fall into the "experience" category of presents.

@KathyG wrote:

Hubby's birthday is coming up this week, and then Father's Day right around the corner. The past few years, instead of presents we have given experiences. However, with most everything still closed or having restrictions I am at a loss. The only thing I could think of that he needed was some five-pound hand weights, but when I went to the sporting goods store today I found they are all sold out.
Everyone is at home trying to counteract all that comfort food!

I have some packages being delivered today, so I am headed straight home after work.

Yesterday, I drank a sugary sports drink in the morning. I was too tired to get my nails done after work. I'll try again next week.

Oh, what a beautiful moooooooooooooooooooooorning,
Oh, what a beautiful daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay,

Or, wowza, am I glad that the trees stopped falling and flying before we went to work. Otherwise, my lil' song would end with... #@@^&@#%^~! trees are blowing my waaaaaa ... Oof!

Anyway, power is back on here, several hours after it was restored across town. I can play online and have fresh cuppa. Early in the early shift, I noticed that the Pilot (Flying J elsewhere) light came on. Did anyone groan and say, "Good one!"? No. They were busy gawping at downed tree parts and doing the spontaneous obstacle course of avoiding them. *sigh* Now, I am going to find out how widespread this storm is/was. I don't think it will affect my merch tomorrow. I could do that today or the following day, if necessary. But what about other people? Can they accommodate the delays caused by this rare June snow? It was so wet and heavy that it broke tree parts and uprooted others. Ssome intersections, alleys, and streets are blocked by fallen tree parts. We saw clean-u[p crews at 2:00 AM. They will be busy for awhile... *goes away to find out about highways and other towns*

Getting trash and recycling prepared to put out at the curb tonight; emptying, washing and lining the roll-out shelves in my kitchen; folding a ton of laundry; playing a few rounds of the hidden object game of A trip to Rome; an evening of new season HGTV shows.
Edited yo add: I found a surplus of plastic food storage items and will offer them first to housemates and the Freecycle what is left in a couple of days. That also freed up some high value storage "real estate" where the large braising pan and lid can relocate to. Of course, some time in the next 3 weeks I will wonder why that pan and lid seem to have vanished, lol.

@walesmaven: I like those casual games. I sit in the chair that is good for my back and relax... I play without sound and listen to what I want to hear while I look around for little objects. This is efficient.

So I went to a nearby city because the hubby had an errand, and I merched a day early. I don't think anyone cares about that. The little task is finished, and it will not matter what happens later with the roads (and construction and possibly blowing snow). On the way there, I noticed that the snow is a great equalizer. Trees were just shapes under snow and not noticeably green or gray. I still wonder about the overall tree health in a few places, but there was no stark contrast to remind me of it. On the way back, I noticed that the wide expanse is equally lovely every time I see it! Morning, evening, any season. It is a mellow and pleasant landscape for a few miles between cities. I would like more miles of that, please.

Gave up on trying to figure out what suddenly made my MS Office 16 programs become impossible to start and ordered Open Office for $12. It will arrived tomorrow. So writing a couple of letters and updating a spreadsheet will have to wait.

Heading to CVS to pick up Rx, then to grocery store and housemate's bank so she can make a cash deposit.

I got some super disinfectant, spray kitchen cleaner on sale at Aldi last week and am going wild with it. No kitchen grime or drip or spot is safe this afternoon. No, I will not use it often, as I am aware of the hazards of over-use of anti-bacterial disinfectants.

I am ordering a phone disinfecter. I clean my phone sometimes but I saw a news article about how dirty the cell phones are and I was shocked. I think I'm clean but I'm really a pig. Cell phones are more dirty than toilets! I wash my hands often but use my cell phone constantly! I just ordered a sanitzer on Amazon for only $35. It's big enough to disinfect my cell phone, ipad mini, keys, and things like that. It uses UV light.

Open Office does not download unless I accept adding a bunch of software that I do not know anything about and probably do not want.

Work. Nap. Get a tire repaired or replaced for the umpteenth time. This tire might have a stalker, an enemy, and/or a curse on it, bwahaha. It does has a warranty, which is a good thing.

They list a number of additional suggested applications but you have to specifically select them. The basic Apache OpenOffice download only has Open Office as far as I can tell.

Once you have requested the Open Office download it will begin the download a few seconds after it takes you to the page where you can select the other offerings if you wish.

It never begins downloading. That is why I thought that it was waiting (a LONG time) for me to select the other apps. The download countdown indication finishes and then, nothing.

Look in your folder of downloads

Edited to add that the file is 135 MB

Flash,
Did that earlier. It is not there. Searched hard drive for a file, nothing.Thank you for good pointers, in case another reader was wondering what one might do.

ETA, $12 for a CD delivered in 24 hours, is beginning to look like a good deal. I need to be doing word processing and a couple of spreadsheet in a jiffy.

Strikes forehead with palm!
Thank you ! I should have thought of that.

I will try that in the morning, when I will have more patience than I do at the moment.

My Echo Dot arrived yesterday. I spent last night setting it up, and will fine tune it this evening. I have the Echo in my kitchen and the Dot in my bathroom.

Leftover ham got repurposed today. Diced most of it and made two dozen breakfast burritos. I wrapped and froze them individually. No thawing required, just heat and eat. Also made minestrone with the ham broth, portioned, and froze. Out of the kitchen, I got started on window cleaning.

Maybe paying a fee will enable you to some sort of customer service or tech support not available to those who download the free version. Just a thought. Might be a good investment for you.
Work. Finish project.

I bought a phone sanatizer for a Christmas gift last year. I wasn't told if it worked or not. Actually I wasn't thanked. Wish I had kept it, if I had known the pandimic was coming I would have :-)
Getting my hair cut today....by a professional!! My regular stylist is back up and running...phew! I did my own back in April, and it came out OK, but I wouldn't want to have to do that all the time! So I'm glad to be getting it cut in just a little bit. YAY!
When I could go back to the beauty shop i was so relieved. Tomorrow I get to go back again. PTL
