What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I prepared and dropped off Census packets at a nursing home. Instructions say to request a room at the facility to do the work, but of course that didn't happen. The easiest solution was to sit in my car...in 90 degree/humidity. Even in the shade I was a puddle of sweat by the time I was done.

Oh Kathy, OWCH!!!!

I went past a construction site and some debris knocked out my AC condenser. I was without cooling for a few summers until I had my insurance take care of it.

All I can think of with summer humidity and no AC are two words:

yeast/fungal infections
Trying to catch up on some of the HH chores that were "planned" for Tuesday. Homemade blueberry crisp for breakfast !!

Work.Play on forum/my excuse to sit in the comfy chair and caffeinate. More work later in the day. Finish a mandatory project and remember that tomorrow is Friday, the earliest time for the next scheduled nap...

I hope that my two or three showers a day (with changes of clothes each time) take s care of that :-)

The basil is growing nice and full.
Every time I read one of your posts about your basil plants, it takes me back in my mind to the summer when I had about 4 of them grow nice and tall outside on the side of my house. I absolutely LOVED sticking my nose in them and smelling them. I hope you get as much pleasure as I did with those, Honny!
Hey Y'all! Today is filled with trying to unpack some boxes (I just moved) while entertaining my 11 month old! No shops today.
I think my oregano needs more sunlight than it's getting in the windowsill. I'm going to put it outside. This weekend, I have to look into getting my muffler replaced thanks to a Fix It Ticket. Luckily, the 10-day deadline is extended due to current conditions.

On a short break. Back to work soon. Realized that a good way to deal with alleged mom is to deal with her as if she really were a stand-up, strong parent. Goethe had something to say about that in general, and it applies here. Hubby is catching on to this concept, in which we choose to try to bolster her rather than being leaned on or pushed over by her absurd demands. It might not be possible for us to do anything that is both proactive and helpful. In that event, we would be off the hook. But we would have tried to do good and well within the context of what is reasonable and possible for us. Hmm.

Laundry, a run to the local country store for mulch, a call to my regular gutter cleaning fellow. With more and more torrential rains, I have noticed signs that the gutters must be at least somewhat blocked.

If you are new to home ownership, the telltale sign is that the gutter constantly overflows along its length rather than quickly and completely draining through the downspout. Time to prevent wet basement.

I picked up my new glasses today. With my no-line bifocals there's always a break in period, but after wearing them for several hours I've discovered that the left lens has a blurry spot right in the middle. And of course, now the office is closed until Monday.

I listen to my Kindle books via Alexa. I listened to a book that was so awesome, I read it again today.

"What We Forgot To Bury" by Marim Montgomery is about the connection of two people and how their worlds collide.

I have a tremendously busy day tomorrow: volunteering at the food bank, 3 shops, car dealership service center and eye doctor.

Early job is late, which is good just for today. I was able to stay up all night and finish the mandatory project before work. Huzzah! I have earned a nap!

Food bank at 630am. After, I went to Nissan to get an estimate for my muffler. After dude gave me the estimate, he told me about a place where I can get it done for less than $700.

Time for a nap.

Last weekend before tax deadline so I'm working my regular job today and tomorrow. Prepped carne guisada for the crock pot. Heat index temp is 105 to 110 last several days and oncoming days so not doing much outside. Just trying to stay cool.
I am mostly sitting on my keester, playing Scrabble online, and messing around with a landscaping program for the flower garden that I will have as soon as I learn how to wiggle my nose like Samantha on Bewitched to make it happen. I'm barely keeping up with the veggie garden at this point. Maybe 50' by 100' is a bit too much!

Good luck with the nose wiggle. It never worked for me.

My job doesn't provide cell phones so we have to use our personal phones. We get reimbursed $75/mo for using our phones. This will pay for my new LG, which I pick up tomorrow.

Getting ready for late-start early job. The rest of the day is for laundry, finding things to donate, and new-to-me workout. Will sing quietly, in the car and at home. This will pizz off some people who want to silence specific speech and elate any and all who have sensitive ears and would prefer not to hear my version of loud singing. grinning smiley

A few hours of work, laundry, getting ready for the week, minor cleaning, planning supper that does not involve the oven. I'm living in an older house with limited insulation right now, and the poor AC's are working sooo hard, lol. It's bearable, but not quite as comfortable as I would like it, but I have no desire for an astronomical utility bill.
Laundry, a quick grocery run, kitchen clean-up, renewing my status with about 10 MSCs that I have not shopped in ages, filing my weekly UI benefits claim, checking a TON of MSCs for projects.

Once they got the CARES Act provisions for ICs/self-employed sorted out, I must say the the MD system has worked like a charm.

wales thanks for the tip on the bakery items at the gas station. I picked up an apple fritter that has my taste buds in heaven.

Hopefully an outside visit with Aunt outside her nursing home. If not that, it's talk on phone through the window.
My primary care physician retired last year. I procrastinated picking out a new one, then things shut down. When they opened back up it took me weeks to get an initial visit, but it's today. The office is in a professional building next to a hospital and I wasn't sure about the safety, but Hubby went to the same place last week to see the dermatologist and said they had a temperature-taking station right inside the door of the building main lobby. After he passed the 'are you healthy' screening they put a sticker on his shirt and sent him on his way.

Today I'm picking up some deliveries from my Amazon locker. There is Something Significant that I need to do when I get home, but I can't recall what it is. Oh, run the dishwasher, which I forgot to do this morning.

I've been cleaning my walk-in pantry, as in removing every single thing. Cleaned walls, shelves and floor. Today I re-shelved every item. It's so nice and organized, and I now have one completely empty shelf. Good thing, as I'm gearing up for a troublesome fall and winter.
