We finished the available Sherlock Holmes and watched the few old Saturday Night Live skits that we have. When I was not laughing, I was thinking that it might be fun to mystery shop at 'Samurai Deli' or do little consumer reports on 'Shimmer-- the best floor wax you'll ever taste'.

I am on a quest to clean out the 3 bedroom closets that have NOT been looked at in YEARS!!!! Will someone PLEASE explain to me how so much STUFF can be squeezed into a closet??? Now, these are 3 bedroom closets that are now used only when guests come overnight, so not regularly looked at. But I did the first one last night, and I believe this is the one that takes the cake, so to speak!! I tossed out FOUR 30 gallon bags and ONE box of stuff!! And these are SMALL closets, about 5' long and 18" deep, with a shelf across the top, so not big by any means. But this closet was crammed!! Phew!! In all fairness, this particular closet had stuff that belonged to my son both when he was younger and from his college days. Some of it (very little!!) I saved, but most went bye-bye!! AND...there was some stuff in there that belonged to his friend who is now in China, married, and teaching ESL to the Chinese!! So THAT stuff went, too....if he hasn't needed it in 7 years, he won't need it now while he's in China!! Anyhow, one closet down, two more to go. And I believe those two will be a LOT easier to clean out!! (Fingers crossed, anyway!)
I went through the same stuff, but got it done a few years ago. I still have my daughters gorgeous prom dress (give me a break). I felt so good after it was done, hang in there. I now see after buying new clothes in the next size, my closet is filling up, but the extra room is empty of my stuff.
I just did a big box, I go in there so much, my complaint is you have to buy something for a dollar (haha), yet a coke is 1.79 and candy (which I don't eat) anymore is more. We take a picture of the outside and address, and the product we evaluated, they know I was there......please reimburse me for my full purchase, thank you.

I am unpacking from our trip. It was a very nice one. We saw cousin of Lannie he had not seen in 50 years, We went to park he went one time and I had hear stories about over the years. We went to the beach,

Did my 2nd closet clean-out today....SOOOooooo much easier than the one I did last night!! Only got rid of one 30 gal bag of stuff today, and just rearranged what's left. Was able to break down a LARGE box and get rid of that, so more room. PHEW! Only one more small bedroom closet to go!! Hey, I might even add on OUR bedroom closet, which is bigger, if this upcoming 3rd one turns out to be a breeze as well!

We are begingin a new tradtion in our house one Lannie's cousin has at his house but we change it a little to suit us better. They had Friday night movies at the house where the family all eat supper toget and then watch a movie . Firday night does not work for us but Thursday morning do so we are have breakfast time movies on Thursday. Then I had three phone shops to do , I will end the evening with Newcomerds dinner.
Mothers' Day Sermon
On Mothers' Day, a Rev. at my church, who doesn't have any kids, preached. In addition to preaching about traditional Moms, she also preached about Spiritual Mothers (women without children, like myself) who nurture, mentor and guild young people. That sermon was so nice and so inclusive, I had to share it!

Honny, there's a term used in Great Britain, I believe, called "mothering", which includes all women who parent, raise, nuture, mentor, love and care for children. They may even have a special day for it. Sounds like something rather nice, don't you think??@HonnyBrown wrote:

On Tuesday my calculus students took their A.P. exam... For the rest of the week, we are taking it easy and watching Hidden Figures.

I went to my breast cancer support group meeting today....we are a strong bunch!!
My daughter is home briefly after first year of college. She had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled today so I am playing nursemaid. So proud of her, she made the deans list both semesters.
Rats in a poke. I now how much each hoped-for camping trip will cost. However, there are no spaces available on my targeted dates. I miss camping. Recently, I figured out how 'Lumbering She-bear' will be comfy, and I am ready to get back to it. *sigh*
Never mind. I found a space. All is well. Huzzah! Lumbering She-bear does her version of a happy dance. It looks like a jiggle. Or a wiggle, Hmm...
p.s. Mothering has its limitations. What if we were kind to people and respected them, without putting ourselves in a superior, parental, mothering, or otherwise unequal stance? Just a thought from an adult orphan who has learned from many, many others who were respectful but did not take on a parental role.

Took Mum and Dad to downtown. We had so much fun at the Navy Pier and the Boat Tour was awesome as always. What makes me sad is that they will be leaving next Saturday.
Beng that it is Sunday I will be going to Sunday School and church. Then we will go out to eat , then I have a shop to do and some food shopping to do
Planning a shop day. I had said that I would stay home, be diligent, and do nothing but projects. However, it is bonus time and there are several shops that could be put into a mini-route which takes me to same shopping center that I want to go to because one of my fave stores is there.

I guess my day has gone down the rabbit hole , our car will not run this morning , so I did not made it to church. So we will see how much we can get done of the rest of the stuff.

Today I'm going to clean out that 3rd and final extra bedroom closet....if it goes without too much hassle, I may even attempt to get at the master bedroom closet today....but if not today, then later this week. Then ALL the bedroom closets will have been gone through, and I'll at least know what's in them!!
Mothering is a "job" with no bounderie's, you are selfless and just give of yourself to make your child happy. I remember sitting in the piano teachers driveway (pre Starbucks) weekly for 9 years while my kid took her piano lessons, yes, rain or shine and all the recitals, competitions, eye Doc's Appt's.....playing with a niece does not even compare, like taking Thanksgiving away because your a Vegan. Why not celebrate Mothers, but not having kids, you'll never know the work. I do hope those that feel left out, will accept Mothers Day for what it is, and being rewarded with a day from our kids is so nice and well deserved. I'm off my bandwagon!!!!
Today is another free day except for a phone job....saw the movie Book Club about four fabulous aging woman, I highly recommend it.

I still dislike the term 'mothering'. Let's respect other people and be nice to them, without making these actions or interactions into anything else, such as a life role.

Today I am having lunch with my bosom-buddy friend of over 18 years. We meet once a month over lunch somewhere, and just chit chat and enjoy our time together and the fellowship!
