CORI don't say I didn't warn you...

As previously mentioned in another post [www.mysteryshopforum.com], I have a legitimate beef with CORI. I gave fair warning here and on their Facebook page that I would publish the emails about this if I got no relief. I haven't, and in fact my posts on Facebook have been removed. Oh, and they dinged my rating TWICE. Once the first time they yanked the shop, and then again when they yanked it the secind time. Therefore, here it is. Sorry about the length.

Re: Job# 3809292

Good Evening:

Attached is a Microsoft One Note file containing the text file downloaded after completion of the report for the above noted job#. The confirmation for this job is 3Y5-W3R-3RQ. Neither the confirmation page nor the text file shows any sort of error. I have received an error in the past, so I know what to look for. In fact, the text file specifically states that I was using IE. I understand that your site is doing upgrade work and I have been VERY patient when uploading reports of late, as I have had to completely redo reports once, twice, sometimes three times on numerous occasions. This report was submitted correctly and it isn't fair that I should have to re-submit it. I have been away from my computer all day, and have just turned it on to find a deadline of midnight for this shop and there is no way, even if I wanted to, that I can get that done. I have seven other reports to do tonight, four of them for Cori. The attached text file should be all you require for that report, and I should receive full credit for it as I did everything correctly.

What version of IE are you using?

The following in your report text tells us what browser the shopper uses:

Submitted: 1/12/2013 6:26:42 PM
ShopID: 698495
JobID: 3809292
ShopID: 698495
Browser: Netscape 5.0 (Windows)

If a shopper uses IE, it will say Internet Explorer. Any other browser will show as Netscape 5.0

Please feel free to contact me with any further questions or concerns, Have a Great day!
Thank you!

Unassigned again. Please fix this. Perhaps I’m not being clear, let me try to clarify.

We all know some sort of upgrade is going on with the CORI system. Whatever is being done, it has made uploading reports a nightmare, a fact which I know you are aware of, since there is a message about it on the CORI homepage. I have lost count of the number of reports I’ve had to re-do because they wouldn’t submit. And because we are forced to use IE, the reports can’t be recovered as they could if we could use Firefox. I have re-did those reports without complaint. As far as the report at issue, something in the system has posted, on your end, an incorrect text file. I submitted the shop and received confirmation. I then downloaded the text file. Neither the confirmation, nor the text file had any errors. According to CORI’s own instructions, once I receive the confirmation, it means my report has been successfully submitted. Also by CORI’s recommendation, the text file should be downloaded in case “there were any problems with your submission, you may be asked to send this file to us as an e-mail attachment.” Clearly, there was a problem with the submission and I have uploaded to you the text file. However, the problem with the submission is CORI’s, not mine. I did the report using IE, as the text file clearly shows. The exit time from MY text file matches the exit time from my receipt. The time on YOUR text file does not. It is quite clear that I have the correct text file and you do not. I uploaded my text file to you when first presented with the issue. The purpose of doing so, at least it’s the way I understand it, is so that CORI can fix the submission problem, so that I won’t be required to resubmit a report. I’ve completed this job, and it was done correctly. I expect to have this job reinstated ASAP and I expect to get paid for it. I did nothing wrong and have already spent way too much time trying to explain the unfairness in what you are asking me to do, when it should be plain as day.

Jennifer, have you bothered to actually take the time to compare the text files, then compare them with my receipt from the shop? It is counterproductive and downright ridiculous to keep going around and around about this. The text file you sent me is not the one from my shop, period. Why will you not admit this, get it fixed, and lets move on? I enjoy doing shops for CORI very much and would like to continue in good standing, but I refuse to be railroaded when I know I was not in error, and have no problem posting my experience in public forums if I am not paid for this shop, without re-doing it, and if my rating is not restored.

Alicia :

The text file you sent sort of proves the point I’ve been trying to drive home all along. Your text file has a time of arrival of 2:59 pm and no exit time. Mine has arrival at 3:15 pm and exit at 3:58 pm, which correlates with my receipt which shows a check-out time of 3:57 pm. Your text file shows expenses of $1.42. Mine shows expenses of $1.82, which again, correlates with my receipt. Additionally, while I know I am frequently late turning in reports, as I do a lot of shops, I only received one late notice on this shop on 1/12/13. The next late notice I received was on 1/17/2013, and that was when I was notified of the purported error. If my report had been submitted at 6:26 PM on 1/12, as your text file says, I would have already received three late notices. I also know if there was an error, it would say so at the bottom of the text file. I have had this happen before. I have pasted my text file and my receipt below for confirmation.

Alicia, I only submitted once, and this is the text file I downloaded after that submission. I typically don’t have any trouble with the XXXXXX reports, only the XXXXXX. I did use IE as my text file reflects. Why can’t I get you guys to entertain the idea that the system went screwy, I don’t know and sent reports the wrong way or something. I’m not a tech guru so I don’t know what happened. All I know is I submitted the shop using IE, I had no problems doing so at the time, and I received confirmation and a text file showing no errors and that matches my receipt. Everything has been sent to you to see in black and white. I know you people aren’t stupid, so I don’t get why you can’t just fix this when You can see I did everything correctly.

You were asked to resubmit because the first submission did not come through correctly.

By your own admission, you did not attempt to resubmit.

Had you resubmitted the report five days ago when we asked you to, this matter would now be resolved.

It is the responsibility of the shopper to ensure that reports are submitted correctly. Had you done so, then there would not have been a problem.

We have given you multiple opportunities to correct this issue.

I apologize for any inconvenience, but there is nothing further we can do to assist you.
Please feel free to contact me with any further questions or concerns,
Have a Great day!

Don't you live the constant "Have a nice day" in their responses?
I see a DRASTIC dip in available shops. Looks like they lost many regular clients.
Maybe they aren't having a nice day over there. If they've lost shops, I bet there are layoffs.
You need to really contact someone else at CRI and speak with them over the phone. You are going to get no where with these ladies. I have had trouble with one of them, she likes to pretend she doesn't get emails. She is definitely not on her A game. Gosh, if you lived in Ohio, I would drive my fancy butt over to Findlay and demand to speak with someone. LOL. Maybe someone here has a better contact for you. Stop going around at the scheduler level, go over them. Certified letters even. I know alot for however much of a shop fee, but principle is at stake here. smiling smiley Good luck Shawnthewoman.
Gosh Shawn, long as you're dishing the dirt, why don't we just say you were listening to Nick LOWE's "Cruel To Be Kind" while you submitted the report?

D'Agosto

"What does it mean? You ask. I answer not/For meaning, but myself must echo, What?/And tell it as I saw it, on the spot."
Wow... it doesn't sound like they read, let alone comprehended, what you wrote at all!

And yes, I've noticed a drastic drop in the number and types of shops in my area, too. (And I didn't even have as much variety as many of you talk about in the first place!)

The whole insistence on IE has always been frustrating to begin with.

Practitioner of the Nerdly Arts.
They really DO NOT listen to us when there is a problem. I mean good grief, you even pointed out to them that Cori themselves says to save the text file and send via email if there is a problem.
Yet they refuse to accept that file from you! Absurd in the highest degree. Just offensive.

I had a big problem with a box on their form being broken, and went round and round for days getting them to fix it and extend my report due time so I wouldn't be unassigned.
As I detailed for them, I followed their instructions to email so and so if there was a problem, yet I received no response. Instead I had to waste an hour or two every day to get the report extended, since their chat constantly broke and kicked me out in the middle of a conversation.
I explained that I was an independent contractor, and I was loosing time and money for something that was not my fault! I didn't receive so much as an apology.

When things go well Cori is great, when they break - as seems constant now with their website - they don't care to listen to you.

I'm sorry you had such an awful ordeal with them.
My question would be why you didn't try to simply resubmit the report, as she was saying, instead of all this going round and round with her?
i think what everyone is forgetting is that a medical waste management company(Stericycle) bought cori last year. Do you really think they "care" about the mystery shopping business?

They bought them for other reasons and for certain tech they had to use for their perscription tracking.
If cori stopped offering mystery shops tomorrow, it would probably be less of a headache for them.

I skimmed through their financial reports since stericycle is a public company and the money cori adds to their bottom line is insiginiciant for the amount of work involved.

You have made a good point, I have noticed trucks around with the name Stericycle, but I never thought of them as being the company that bought CORI out.

Motivation increases when we assume large responsibilities with a short deadline.
Techman, since they now have the technology they want out of the deal, doesn't it make sense they'll sell off Cori if they can find a buyer?

I just picked up a local gas station shop from them. I held out just long enough for the fee to jump $7 overnight (to $32) so I'll do it tomorrow. There are a bunch of bonused gas station shops on the board that I was going to make a route out of after I did the local one so I could gauge how much time they required, but if there is any problem uploading tomorrow's report I'm sure not going to put myself at risk of a full day and 700 mile round trip to pick up four remote shops for them only to find out I can't load the reports without wasting a bunch of time.

Typically what happens in a situation like that is they just wind down the companies operations or fold them into their own. However since their business is very different then their core business of medical waste, as contracts expire with their various clients they just don't renew them. They aquired a few dozen companies last year and all but them were directly related to their field.

Techman, are you saying it would be more advantageous for them to let Cori come to a natural halt than to make the investment of time and resources required to sell it? Makes sense to me. ???

Yes it is for a variety of reasons. One of many is tax breaks they will get.
It won't sell for much since the main value the mystery shopping
companies have is the contracts they have with the companies and perhaps
the database of shoppers in their system. Any company can bid on future contracts
as the current ones expire. If cori's main value was the tech they wanted, that won't
be part of any sale further devaluing it.

Plus they didn't move cori's operations into their main offices and left them in Ohio,
so that is a huge inefficency and unnecessary expense for them.

They have a new ceo this year and he has a stated goal of cutting costs and improving efficencies.

This doesn't mean that is what will is happening right now, but just something I've seen happen many times.

Thanks for the interesting background info on CRI, TechMan. This will be a company to watch to see how its operations devolve.

They have also utilized CORI's base of ICs and that may be another reason the acquisition made sense. I audited a Stericycle pick up at a local retailer and the helper on the truck was also a CORI independent contractor.

What doesn't make sense, is that any company would want CORI for it's *tech*. Really? Where & what is this sought-after tech? Shoppers certainly don't see it.

I will be sad to see them go. Aside from their laughable opening pay, I really enjoyed working for them, as jobs in my area often got to the really good bonus levels.

I contacted CoRI and let them know I would need to terminate my contract due to researching how terrible IE is with Macs. They contacted me saying they were working on being Safari, and other browsers, compatible and should be ready in the next 6-12 months. Just an FYI that it doesn't look like they will be trying to get rid of the mystery shopping.

6 - 12 months to make their forms compatible is laughable at best. Just to be clear, no one ever said they were defintely shutting down that portion. We were just making observations based on past experience.
Even if they were, they wouldn't tell their shoppers anyway.

At the same time, if Stericycle wanted to get rid of CoRI, do you think they are going to tell anyone at CoRI?
Holy Moses! How frustrating. And I was just reading it. That would have been enough for me to move on. Having an interaction like that makes you feel like you are writing in different languages.
So what happened? Do they care now that you posted it on here or elsewhere? Did they pay you? UPDATE!! smiling smiley
Life is too short. I did a tire rotation and the shop was rejected, because I used Firefox, not worth the time to redo and thus suffered a reduction in my rating, but I got an awesome rotation
The tire rotation was through CORI?
