Reality Based Group Scam

I received the following notice today

Reality Based Group Shoppers,

It has come to our attention in the last several days that there are scammers out there trying to take advantage of professional shoppers like yourself. A couple things to keep in mind. These types of scams go on all the time, so there is a wave of them now and there will be more later as long as they are successful. So let’s make them end by never being a victim of this type of scam.

It may seem obvious, but never send money to a mystery shopping company. We would never ask this of our shoppers and it is a scam. Never send a cashiers check to any individual claiming to work for a mystery shopping company, another scam.

Our schedulers and employees all use @realitybasedgroup.com as their email extension, so if you receive an email from anyone claiming to be from our organization and they are using gmail or any other email extension, they are scammers.

The best advice I can give you is, trust your instincts, if it seems too good to be true, it is more than likely a scam. Protect yourselves and report this type of scam to your local authorities and to the MSPA.

Sincerely,

Renee DeSantis
President
Reality Based Group, Inc.

Thank you!

What a shame! RBG have some of the nicest folks that I have worked with in 8 years on video MS. Glad they are reaching out to alert their shopper list.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
This thread is a pleasant surprise! grinning smiley

I thought, from reading the title of the thread only, that I was going to read about a shopper unhappy with RBG and accusing it of scamming the shopper.
Yes.. I was smart enough to check out this company Reality Based Group, Inc before getting wrapped up in this scam. David Jones was individual w/ gmail return address. Asked me to do an assignment on Walmart. I was to accept their check and deposit into my account and drawl from it after compleating the assignment . This is a way for them to get access to your account.. Thanks for the head's up.. Not yet a shopper , however would like to be.
Yes I had the same experience! I have reported to USPOSTAL due to I still have the check! They have contacted me about it. Telling me this one concerns international fraud because they ask me to send the balance to another country.
