Dont shop for maritz

I love them. They are my favorite MSC. I have always found them easy to work with, pay on time and helpful when problems arise. Case and point, Sunday I did two gas station audits. I mistaken thought Sunday was the 20th which is when the window for shopping them opened. I called Maritz and was told no problem go ahead and submit. Ne dr had any issues.

This is a case in point. Of all MSC's I have worked with, Maritz works WITH me more often than any other. They seem to have a clue that when shoppers are out in the field, anything can and does happen.
I got a call from them asking me to do a job. I said no because I hadn't been paid for a job I did over a year ago. They asked for the id number. Once I provided it (and the photos) proving I completed it I was paid in a day.

What happened to your self-scheduling capabilities? They shouldn't be pending if you have been working for them for awhile and with no major issues.
I got self scheduling after about 10 shops. I've never had them taken away.
Maritz has been really good to me and I've tried to return that favor. I've noted several times lately that when I get a call from them to bid on some far flung location and they apparently decide they don't care for my $number, they don't call back with a "no soap" scenario. That leaves me hanging and holding my schedule open which I don't think is in my best interest. This specifically happened on the last two calls (from two different teams) on which I was holding open an entire day to be able to shop the location in question. How is that working for me? Not good. What am I going to do about it? Stop responding if they're not ready to make a firm offer. Won't work? I don't care. There's always another shopper willing to hit the road for the edge of the earth. Right? Right.

Maritz also has been good to me and for me. But I have learned not to hold a date open for them indefinitely. If they need the shop(s) done badly enough I get an OK at once or by the next day. If I don't hear from them by the next day I know they are looking for a better deal. In fact, I tell the scheduler that I will hold my day open for only X (usually one day) amount of time. It would be nice if someone called back with a negative response if my offer is not accepted, but they don't.
That often depends on the scheduler. I have had about 1/2 of them call me back and tell me that my offer was not accepted.
That has happened to me once or twice but I wouldn't say it's a pattern (yet). Its very frustrating though, sitting around waiting when you want to be out there shopping.
I have done some shops which I realized I screwed up and I try to remember my mistakes. If we don't mess up then we may not know. Since I have been doing better.
I will never understand why some people think Maritz is somehow flawed for allowing shoppers direct access to them by phone. There have been several times when I have been out in the field doing shops and needed an answer about a situation right away. Being able to call someone and get an answer is a huge help. Sending an email and hoping someone will respond in time is wishful thinking.
Having everything computerized is not always the best way.

Jake - They taught me not to hold a date. I may or may not shoot them a number depending on my interest but it won't include a commitment or follow up on my part. For sure I won't be kicking any holes in my schedule for them while they think it over.
