MARITZ YELLOW STATION EDITORS

I did some blue station audits and got my shops put on hold on several of them. A few were my fault but the others were editors being editors. Those shops finally cleared. Based on that and the peopke posting on here about the pucky yellow station editors I braced myself for lots of holds. KNOCK ON WOOD NOT ONE of my yellow shops have been returned to me.. I feel like I won the lottery.

adam. - You DID win the lottery! You could have had the brain numbing experience of getting a photo rejected, resubmitting the same, or highly similar photo, and then having it accepted.....stranger than fiction!
0r-----!
The station is under construction...everything (building, pumps, driveway --the place is surrounded by chain link) so...like you are 'trained', you notify team 2, you email, and call them, and do the same parade for six consecutive days, all the while getting email nastygrams and being put on a bad/naughty list. you go back to the site and check. And finally, 2 weeks later, after you have pulled all your hair out trying to make MaritzCX happy...they tell you they are removing the shop from your "Current Shops"...and you are, well, how do you say it? -- "personna non grata"....

Generally, if a station is closed with Maritz you just take two pictures (overall site and main sign) and report it as closed.
I never contact the teams. I just take the photos as directed in the guidelines, plus a few extras that might help tell the story, and file it as a closed station with an explanation in the comments box. Never had any problems.
I have a new one. I did a yellow station the other day I've done many times before. It was put on hold because my photo of the mens room included a clear shot of the sink and the urinal. The editor said they didn't want the urinal but wanted the toilet and sink. Okay except that was almost an impossible combo to get into a single frame. So I submitted another photo that captured part of the toilet and part of the sink. Now it is on an "internal hold." In the hundreds of shops I've done for Maritz, I've never had a shop placed on an internal hold.

I've also never had a bathroom photo rejected ever. I try to get the best combination of elements into a photo based on design of the bathroom.

If they now require that a toilet and sink be captured in the same frame, there are a whole lot of stations I will no longer do. Many, if not most, multiple-stall restrooms are not designed where it is possible to get the sink and toilet in the same frame.

Hopefully, I'm dealing with an anal-retentive newbie who has never been a shopper.
Maybe the internal hold is to train the newbie? Obviously you can't always get a particular combination of elements. Every station is unique. I've had a couple of internal holds over the years but nothing ever happened that I heard about. I suspect they are more about the editor although I don't know for sure.
Next time, take a photo of the toilet including the dispenser, etc. Then, take a photo of the sink, including the towel dispenser or dryer. They want other elements besides the sink, toilet or urinal. Sometimes, I take a photo of multiple urinals or the toilet and urinal. Yet, it is not necessary to have both in the same photo.
But, not to worry! Internal holds usually resolve without any other needs.he same photo.

I have had these shops put on internal hold on occasion and can't remember any of them not being accepted after a day or two. Chances are yours will disappear. And I have no idea what or why an internal is. It very well could be a new, zealous editor trying to prove her worth. When my last digital camera's telephoto lens broke and I had to replace the camera I bought a new one with a panoramic photo feature with the yellow stations shops in mind. It really helps when I take pictures of a small restroom or small C-store. If you use a smart phone as your camera it is possible that it has this feature. There has been some comments about needing a camera and not using a cell phone for yellow station shops but the only thing I can find in the guidelines is that the shopper must provide his own digital camera. And I feel that the camera on the newer phones qualifies as digital. However the MSC or client may feel differently.
I used the app so I had to use my cell phone. But since it was the first time to use the app, I took backup photos with my DSLR.
I've been told an internal hold is something for Maritz and does not mean the shop is being questioned regarding the shopper. I've seen it on shops that have had some issues that they probably want to clarify with the editors or look into further, like a closed station one with many problem areas. I've never had an internal hold shop declined.

Regarding the restroom photos, I've always taken at least two if I can't easily fit the entire restroom in one photo. They can be uploaded separately while doing the report. However, what's funny is when I've gotten a report back for clarification I've noticed only one photo remained. The editors only use one photo of each requirement anyway. I guess they want to be able to choose the best one themselves.

Submitting more than one photo of the same requirement is unnecessary. It is not a gallery shoot. smiling smiley

Yes, but it certainly avoids the "holds."

Do they put things on hold just to "tell you something"? I rarely do this client due to the lack of stations near me...

I have one that must have went on hold around 10pm telling me to, "Evaluate the .... like ...." But that's it? Which I did, I am gathering they noticed in a picture something I was giving the location the benefit of the doubt on because only an auditor looking for problems would notice it, and not a regular customer. I did have a backup picture of the item that another client this MSC does would scream, "It's not a white glove audit" to you if reported, and was just going to change my answer and attach that picture but the question is grayed out, so I can't? I am going to call the MSC when they open, but I wonder, do they just put things on hold to tell you something?

Typical of these editors, in my opinion.

Since where I live and perform shops and it is still winter, I give the shops my BOTD for areas that are related to difficulties with cold and snowy conditions. Yet, I still get "hold" for items that ask me to change my answer. I just shrug and agree to change the answer. I'm not in a position to fight and am sure the station manager will protest the answers when they get their version of the report.

That's the exact reason I was giving them benefit of the doubt, too, on the particular issue.

well, mjt, that was clearly done (read the post).....

I don't see that she said she reported it online as a closed station. She said she notified them, and they are often very slow to respond to messages (if they respond at all). Any station that I've ever reported as closed has been accepted quickly.

I have spoken directly with a higher up on the yellow station editing team. I was told I should always capture a picture of a toilet stall in each restroom. (This was after I submitted two good photos of a very large restroom, but did not show a toilet.) They did not mention a sink or say it had to be in the same frame. I always submit two photos as directed in the guidelines. I usually include one of the sink area and one of a toilet stall. For a small restroom, I just take it from each side.

Unless who you talked to referred to the Customer Experience Reference Guide and not to say that they would lie, I question the usefulness of what someone tells you over the phone. (I'm assuming here that you talked to someone and did not get those instructions via Email.)

In the CERG, the instructions specifically state that you "Make sure the photo is of a complete view of the restroom". Although proper photos in the guide show a toilet, they also show a sink or, a partial sink and the toilet.

What I am saying is this; Someone could interpret the "higher up's" instructions as needing only the toilet photo, so they take multiple toilet photos, nothing else. Then later find it being put on hold, asking for a photo of the sink.

Your method of taking a photo of each side makes more sense to me than the "higher up's".

Yes, it was someone over the phone. I don't remember details, but they were higher up than an editor. In this situation, it was a large restroom with many stalls. I submitted beautiful views of the restroom, but only part of a toilet was visible through the door of a stall. This person told me a picture of the inside of a stall was mandatory, for whatever that's worth. Generally, my experience is that what I am told by the editorial team overrides what is in the guide, and taking that advice causes fewer problems.

I agree submitting only toilet pictures may get a shop put on hold or rejected, and I am glad you pointed that out. For multi-stall restrooms, I submit a picture of a toilet stall and an overview picture that includes the sink, and I no longer get holds due to restroom photos.
