NSS...Out of business, Owner died/ For recapped short version see pinned thread on page 1 by LisaSTL

I had requested we limit responses to updates. The thread being closed is not a good idea. It would be better to have the information about NSSN removed. Ironically, it was after that misinformation was added, responses were stopped. It makes me wonder how many people read that thread only and are now subjecting NSSN to demands for payments.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

I came up with what seemed a good idea at the time, editing my first post with a blurb about ignoring the NSSN info. Now that it is closed I cannot edit my own posts.

For everyone familiar with the situation it is good. We still have people registering here to find out what has happened and this thread is up to 23 pages, including a bunch before we found out the owner died. The other thread was created to put the basic info front and center.

Even though I started this thread and have read every single entry including the ones on Lisa's thread I still misread the notice that NSSN will not be paying anyone to mean that someone found out that NSS will not be paying anyone...If I, who have followed closely got confused I can see where a new reader would be totally out of the loop. But there are some new readers who evidently do not read any of the 23 pages and just reply saying this horrible company has not paid and has cheated them.
New readers read Lisa's post on the sticky on the top of the forum to see a recap of what the story is before making a bunch of negative accusations when you have no idea what happened and never thought about not being paid from Feb until now in July.
Other thread sounded good Lisa. Why read that when you could follow twenty-three pages?
But who paid Irene? I know it wasn't NSS, but I'd still like to know who caused the fuss.

Okay, I have a question: Did anyone who sent documentation about not getting paid by NSS to that law firm get any sort of reply? If you sent it certified, can you verify if it was received? Anyone who sent documentation and a query to the NSS address get their mail returned? I would think someone would have provided an update if so, but just thought I would check.
I'm really confused. A little while ago I looked and Irene had admitted that she was paid by NSSN for a job performed by NSSN and had made a mistake. Since then, she edited her post and removed that information.
JAS - I saw the same thing.
I also have asked a couple times if anyone had received their certified mail receipt back with a signature. To date, no one has reported on that and I'd like to know if their documents were received and by whom..
I goofed and when I sent mine I thought I had asked the postal clerk to request a receipt but realized after I got home that he apparently misunderstood me and my postal slip did not reflect that request.
You had to send it certified mail RETURN RECEIPT requested. It is about a dollar more but hopefully everyone did that. Even just going PM gets you yes delivered but not to whom.

Canada - Yes, we know that. What we're asking is what was on the return receipt for who it was delivered to and the signing party's name.

You are owed a lot of money. You did not send it again correctly?
No, I did not but I am sure others did. I was hoping someone who did it right would report back. I am waiting now until we see who the administrator will be before I spend the money to resend.
Did everyone know? I've been following this thread from the start, and I had only seen your posts that said that you'd absolutely never worked for NSSN and that the payment definitely didn't come from NSSN, so I was unsure about who had paid you.

Glad that's sorted!

We figured it out, i was paid for a very old job I did...hadn't worked for them all year. Honest mistake, nothing to do with NSS payments same name, different company). I am still waiting for NSS back payments.

I think this might be a good SOP for every couple of pages of this thread from now on, so those who come in and go immediately to the last pages will get this:

NSS has closed and owes many shoppers money. The owner died. No one has gotten paid for NSS jobs. Refer to page 13 and further of this thread for more extensive details.
Great discussion! Joan, where were you when Grassroots folded overnight and did not pay many?
Hope everyone got their info off the NSS website - because their site expired 07/28/17. I just clicked on my link and this is what the page says: "www.nationalshoppingservice.com expired on 07/28/2017 and is pending renewal or deletion"

I received my card back for certified mail receipt, signed by the law office recipient. No direct contact from the company. (yet).
Change the title of the post to something like:

NSS Owner Passed Away / Lawsuit in Process / A Good Chance You Don't Get Jack / Obtain Information For Law Office Documentation
I have suggested before that I can change the title. Perhaps I will and direct to Lisa's summary thread up top.

Bump. Anyone have any updates?
No-one has ever contacted me from the law office. I did receive the return receipt signed by the law office. I imagine this all takes time...or at the very least, they might be forwarding my packet of information on to someone dealing with the NSS (owners) estate/executer. .
