Maritz REQUIRES a referral -- am I the only shopper ticked off by this?

The site won't let me submit my report until I've supplied the e-mail address of someone who will perform Maritz gas station audits. Now, I don't mind being ASKED for referrals, but this is strong-arming. I tried entering nonsense, and it wouldn't let me submit. I had to actually give a real person's e-mail address. For sure, that person doesn't want to shop for Maritz!

Am I the only shopper this bothers?

Ugg, another reason I don't do shops for Maritz. I am registered and you can use me as a referral but I am never, ever, ever doing their gas stations.
Are you going to need to supply a new one for each report you submit? I probably would not have submitted the report until speaking with someone and having it fixed so I didn't need to violate a friend's privacy. It is definitely a case of strong-arming.

So far, with her permission first, I have used the same e-mail on all the reports that require this.

But it IRKS me!!!
I did 12 shops for Maritz over the weekend and I saw no such request... I presume this request is for the revealed audits as opposed to their gas station mystery shops?

I do on ton of their gas station mystery shops... I haven't touched their revealed audits, but have wondered about them as the bonuses have grown.... How bad are they?

That's outrageous for a number of reasons, but what really strikes me is that you can't submit the report without providing the email address, and you weren't told about this prior to taking the shop. Their tactic could prevent you from being paid for a job you performed because they did not provide full disclosure when you accepted the shop. Wow. That is underhanded. I'd be livid. I'd try entering the email address of one of their employees. (does anyone there have an email address?)
We could all commit to putting ChrisCooper's email address into their system....

Wow....just wow. So damm wrong.

It's like they're holding your pay hostage for this e-mail address.
I just type, "NO" into the box. Well, I really don't do those shops for Maritz anymore. They aren't worth the pay for me. And, yes, it irritates me that they have that box as a required field.
Just type NA. They don't expect an email from everyone but the box needs something in it to submit.

I do the same for years and never had any issues.
I was trying to figure out to which shop this refers. Now, I understand. It's the "Yellow" gas station shops. Right?

I've done so many of these shops and dealt with the silly requests that, now, I usually have no problems. I even have figured out their paradigm. But I was never irked by that particular request. I just typed in "N/A" like others have said they do.

It seems every shop has a nonsensical question that requires an even more nonsensical answer.

Have a big laugh at their expense, but in the email address of an unemployment office.
Don't get hysterical. Just type NA in the box like everybody says and it will be all peachy.
Agree - I have typed NA for hundreds of these shops for this client with no problems. Have you done these before ceasesmith or was this your first. It may be that you spoke to an uninformed scheduler. Try submitting them with "NA" or just have some fun with an email address.

If the policy has changed and an email address is now required I may tend to agree with bgriffin. I'll find out next week when I do some shops.
As she stated in the subject line, ceasesmith is pissed. She was not "hysterical."

ugghh really???? oh man, ceasesmith, is it just on audit reports?

Yes, and just on one brand (which needs must remain nameless).

I tried n/a, none, no, nada -- all kicked back as "not valid e-mail addresses". You MUST enter an e-mail addy.

Thanks, ChrisCooper -- I'll HAPPILY refer you, LOL!!!!

And the audits are HORRIBLE. But I'm desperate for an income stream. I was on-site for 45 minutes, the report took a stinking hour and a half. But that's just me -- I have more trouble with Maritz' reports that with any other company. Most of that is spent waiting for the photos to upload.

Cease, Couldn't you get another email addy for yourself and just use that one??? I have several, including an old aol email addy, and if I'm pushed to give an email address when I don't want to, I use that one. There's nothing in the name of it that connects it to me. So maybe that would help.
Well, then I suggest going to Professor Poopiepants Namechanger website, find your new name and then just add @gmail.com.

You do know who Professor Poopiepants is? From the story, Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants.
My guess is forcing a shopper to put an email address in the report would violate some sort of labor or contract law.

And its crazy to require an IC to provide information that is detrimental to our own business. Why should an IC give them a shopper who will take the IC's shops and bonuses?
I just checked to see if I did one of these shops this month. And I did - on 6/6. My normal routine is to type NA in the email request Therefore I did for this shop. Changes in the rules for shops do not normally come in the middle of the month so I have to feel that this is still just that - a request and not a mandatory instruction. I am doing 4 more of these shops on Monday and will again reply with a NA and report back on whether or not my report gets bounced back. I think they will be accepted as usual.
Create your own alternate email address. I have a gmail one and several on my yahoo account. I do agree that requiring one to successfully submit ones report is egregious

Well, all I know is I tried that -- NA -- and tried to submit, and it came back with "must be in the form of xxxxx@xmail.com

I've done 3 reports recently for that particular type of station (the latest just this week), and they just kept bouncing back until I put my friend's e-mail in there.
