Pathetic and offensive "begging" email from SeeLevel scheduler

The subject line of the email was "A last plea for help with these (client name withheld) wings shops".

Keep in mind that the pay for these shops is a measly five bucks, which barely pays for gas, so basically no pay at all. True, you get reimbursed for a small meal, but you're still spending about an hour and a half total time, between driving, taking discreet observations in the location, then completing the shop report at home. No pay, and just some "free" greasy, fried food isn't worth it for me. Anyway...

The email says "Just so y'all know, I'm having to miss out on my "baby" brother's engagement party because these shops aren't done yet. Please don't make my weekend worse by causing me to lose my job too. "

Really??

"Ok", I think..."well that's really unprofessional, but whatever. If it's THAT urgent that she could LOSE HER JOB, I'm sure there will be bonuses here that will make them worth it".

Nope.

A whole whopping extra five bucks is all she's offering for me to drop everything and battle rush hour traffic across town to do this shop for her TONIGHT, so that she doesn't lose her job and have her little weekend ruined.

How about "no"?

Yeah, I just clicked delete without ever opening it because unless it has "bonus" in the subject line it's not for me. That's really tacky, though. Geesh.

A few months ago, the scheduler said that she would lose her job if the shops were not filled.

Yes, the MSC name is in the subject line. And it's a scheduler who has been with them for quite awhile. I wonder what the MSC would think if they knew.

Those shops fly off the boards in my area. If you like the food, the fee is fine. Also, the MSC is looking for local shoppers. If the location isn't local, we all understand that the fee isn't attractive. On half price wings Tuesdays I can feed myself two meals and drop some wings off for my daughter. I prefer the lunch shops, take out is even better.

The email also stated that she would entertain reasonable offers as some locations that were highlighted needed to be done tonight. So if she's only offering an extra $5 as a bonus, I'd be peeved too after regarding the email.

I meant to say the restaurant I think it is not the MSC. I must be tired tonight. Probably the paint shop report I'm doing is wearing me out mentally.

I didn't get that note, but I was offered a bigger bonus than that. I am booked at lunch time the next few days though. A general email went out after I declined the offer.

I took one 20 miles away for a $10 bonus...but that was slightly before the begging email. That was SOME begging email. Sheesh!

I wonder, if it's really that easy to lose employment with Seelevelhx, should we even be doing their shops, based on a human rights perspective? I don't know if this was BS or reality on the part of the scheduler, though, but if it's really that easy to lose employment with Seelevelhx, are we not as guilty as Seelevelhx is for treating it's associates this way if we take their shops? Is there any way we can find out if the scheduler's take on easy job loss at this MSC is reality, or if it's just a game on her part? I don't care to be indirectly guilty of such hostile working conditions for other human beings.

Well I would guess she is an IC like us, so it's not really loss of employment. I am sure she has a quota to fill, but she has been with them for a long time so I imagine that her plea for help was dramatized. Extremely and distastefully so.

Did anyone email her back letting her know?

maybe she thought she was being funny? I didn't get the emails but I think that, rather than motivating me to take the shop, i would have rolled my eyes and deleted.

It's nowhere near funny. The guy that schedules the comic book shops is kind of amusing, and I think there was a guy that was scheduling phone shops who had some silly but entertaining words to try and entice shoppers, but trying to guilt people into driving long distances for low pay by saying they are going to lose your job is not amusing. At all.

It sounds like she's trolling us. Her "baby brother" is probably a Pomeranian that is being lent out for stud services. Or maybe her younger sister is having a Ken and Barbie engagement party. Doubt she's losing her job because her marketing skills has everyone talking--negatively, but no press is bad press. Most people who are in danger of losing their job aren't aware of it.

Maybe (continuing CC's post) she is trying to lose her job so she can sue.....or has mental problems...

I got this email as well and my initial thoughts were about the same as the majority in this thread. I would consider this plea from a scheduler I have a close relationship with, but not someone who I barely know or interact with.

I wonder how it would go over with Seelevel if we used a similar email tact when applying for one of their shops? Unprofessionalism aside, begging is still begging....
