Back to the shop information. I need more information, please. What about traveling with another person? Must you fly solo, haha, or may you travel with someone? If you can travel with someone, do they travel at the best price they can find? Do they get a discount or other consideration? Is it advisable to do this shop without another person along for the ride, er, flight?

I must be missing something. All I saw were a couple of words capitalized for emphasis. Totally appropriate and not indicative of anger.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

The shop is simple enough a shopper doesn't need to do it alone and the shopper is allowed to fly with a companion. The companion does not get a discount.

Like *this*. Or, actually, like this, but no need to emphasize here, really, unless you're angry for some reason. That's how I see this conversation has developed. Again.

I can see that you are misinterpreting how the conversation has developed.

Thank you.

LGRM,
It is a long established tradition on this forum to use a one or two word all caps for emphasis. No one is angry on this thread as far as I can see. Certainly not me. And my posting history will shop a consistent use of all caps for emphasis, not in anger. Why leap to such a conclusions?

The only thing I didn't like is that I didn't get to book my flight directly and wasn't allowed to get points for the flight by using my rewards number. I get that it probably would have ID'd me as the shopper, though.
It's not that. It's because they're booked on the scheduler's points. That's how the company makes money. Your 50% is their fee. It's win-win-win. The airline isn't out anything but a seat, the company gets paid, and you get half off your ticket for about an hour's worth of work. Clever set up.

I hear that the company is getting flack from their stockholders for using a Canadian company, though.

Mmmm, I knew that the flight was on one the SQM rep's points as her rewards number showed on my confirmation email, but I don't think they are getting paid in points only.
You're paying the full price for your ticket. It gets booked on his points. You get half of the amount back; the company keeps the other half. The airline gets a mystery shop in exchange for the seat on the flight. Everyone wins.

I'd rather do seelevel and Ath shops for local shops. I'd only do SQM if I'm traveling abroad.
FYI starting Nov. 1 the in-flight evaluation is returning. It still seems very reasonable considering the potential savings on a ticket. I've also done shops for SQM's bus and other airline clients and have had nothing but good experiences with them.
Although I'm a points hobbyist, I don't mind doing these non-points flights instead of booking on my own and getting points. I look at it this way, let's say I took two $300 flights - retail value $600. I saved $300, the equivalent of a free flight. Paying $600 oop is not going to get you anywhere near a free ticket, even with CC points multipliers.

There are other times when I still fly with my status airline for other reasons, but for simple trips, sometimes SQM makes a lot of sense (cents?).
In my personal experience I have done a few SQM flights this year. I did a couple before they removed the inflight option and those took me on average about 90 minutes to complete per flight. If there was something egregious that needed especially long detail it would take longer.

Since switching to ground only I would say it takes me about 45 minutes. I am able to complete some of it on the plane on my computer which is nice (while using personally created prompts in a word doc)

One last thing of note.... If you are taking a connecting flight and getting off the plane you're going to have to do another report for that leg of the journey. So to save yourself the time I would recommend finding direct flights or no plane change flights as often as possible. Having a $200 flight (save $100) but having to do 4 reports may not be worth it to you.

Good point! I have only used it for nonstop flights.
I just read the guidelines again. If you are doing a ground only, you do not have to report on the connecting flight. So one report for getting to your destination and one for the return.
Wow! That's a much better deal.

FYI, all: As of November 1, they are no longer allowing "one stop, no plane change" flights as shops. The online instructions (dated November 1) as of today still show they do, but my request was turned down with explanation that "they are in transition" and they weren't allowed.
I don't know if you have to. I booked my own flight because I had to nail down my plans. I did, though, get an email from a second person asking for my travel itinerary so they could set up everything for my flight. There was no elaboration.
