Beware of Scheduler Dru at The Source (Trendsource)

Honestly, I don't think there will be any repercussions for Dru because he was trying to help the company out. They are a business after all so if they can find someone who will take it for less, of course they will jump on it. The only reason why they gave the shop back to you is because you contacted them about it.

There are lots of companies out there who will NOT remove a shop after it's been confirmed, even if they were able to find someone to do it cheaper.

Alta360 gave me a group of shops that were about 30 miles away for a certain bonus amount and the scheduler emailed me shortly afterwards to notify me that another shopper had requested the same group of shops with another shop (a little further away). She asked me if I would pick up the other shop as well, and told me that the other shopper had agreed for a lower amount for each shop. When I declined the additional shop, she did not remove the group of shops or lower my fees.

A contract or agreement is just that, and there is no way that the scheduler should have taken away shops that had been confirmed. That's bad business.

Bad business but it's how they conduct business, apparently. From a moral standpoint, what they did was wrong but it looks like they have a track record of taking away shops.

And I'm wondering since they gave the OP back the shop if that means they took it from the other shopper who took it for less.
I had a similar experience. They texted me one day and offered me to do a cellphone shop for $30 because it was already close to their deadline for this client. They kept texting and texting until I accepted. They needed the shop to be done before 3 p.m. and I told them I was at work and couldn't do it before 6 p.m. They said it was fine. I got an email confirming the shop and payment. As I was getting ready to leave my job, I decided to open the app and read the guidelines (again) to make sure I won't miss anything. To my surprise, they cancelled my shop and assigned it to someone else, did not take the courtesy to text, call, or email me to let me know...so at what time they were planning to let me know? If I didn't open to check, I would probably gone to the location and when trying to check in, I would find out on that exact moment. I was so angry and they ignored my emails and texts, until like 4 or 5 days passed and asked me if I went to the store???!!! I haven't done any other shops after this.

They changed a report on me from a fail to a pass. Clothing store out of business now. I saw my report as i went by a viable staff area a few weeks Later. It was my repoet from some identifable items left. The flunk part they changed to pass.

I would only care if I didn't get paid but my report was used. I work for the MSC, not the client. I provide my report to my customer, the MSC, with an honest representation of what happened, completed according to their guidelines, and the MSC pays me the amount we have agreed upon. There is no agreement between me and the MSC (none of the MSC's I work with) that my report will not be edited or even completely changed. Once they get the report, the report is theirs and they can do what they want with it. The client is THEIR client, not mine, and they can provide whatever report to their client that they wish.
SO you are totally ok with a company changing your report from a total negative to a positive. WOW.
WOW
Honesty and ethics flew out your window.

I'm a little confused as to who "they" refers to in the CanadaMommy post (Trendsource?) and what a viable staff area is. That aside, the only honesty and ethics violation I see is from Dru at Trendsource. And I agree with roflwofl that after submitting an honest and accurate report the MSC owns it. The shoppers job has been completed and payment expected.
I think it's true that once we submit the report, the msc owns it. Theoretically it gets approved , we get paid and move on to the next shop. But, if we shoppers made a honest and conscientious effort to do a great shop and provide an accurate report for, lets's say, poor customer service, and then the msc and/or client report the opposite, that is just plain wrong. All our hard accurate work defeated the whole purpose of mystery shopping.
Their system only has a "Confirm" requirement when you request the shop with PAD on their site. Otherwise, if it is assigned by a scheduler there is no confirmation that comes up. When I read the OP's post I read it as he asked if she would do it, she said she would check her schedule and get back with him. He put it on her assigned shops. She didn't get back with him. So, I'm assuming he thought she may or may not do it but didn't get back to him so he assigned it to someone else. Did you ever call him back and say that you would do it for sure?

Are you reading the OP at the beginning of this thread? It doesn't read anything like you are saying in your interpretation. It says assigned and confirmed. Nothing about getting back to him.

I would think the purpose of mystery shopping for the MSC is to get an honest and accurate report from the shopper and pass the information on to the client. But that is not my purpose. My objective is to follow the guidelines that the MSC sets and submit an honest and accurate report and get paid for my efforts. I am not on a crusade to improve the industry I am shopping nor do I have an altruistic emotion to do so.
@margovt

Quoting: It wasn't a verbal contract. He texted asking if I would do it and I responded that I would look at my schedule (I wasn't home and needed to look at my other work I have this week). When I got home, I saw the shop sitting in my pending acceptance area and I confirmed it. Now it's gone
I didn't know they have the same pending acceptance when they assign a shop directly and not when you request pad on the site. It's really bad form and if they did that to me I wouldn't take shops from that scheduler.

They don't, actually. It's all very confusing.

He offered the shop. I confirmed the shop. I got an email telling me it was assigned to me. It sat in my assigned shops for a day. The next day he took it back. I have done many shops for Trensource. There have been a few times when a shop was offered and someone else took it before I confirmed it. I know the difference.
