As an Evaluator for 7+ years, I want to become a Scheduler!

So I've shopped for Satisfaction Services, Coyle Hospitality, and have just registered with IPSOS - but more and more I've become interested in potentially becoming a scheduler. Does anyone have any information on this and how I should apply or at least approach these companies? Also, is there a range that I would be making per hour/month? Thanks!

Contact schedulers that you have a good relationship with from msp's you have excellent ratings with and ask if there are any scheduler openings.

Pay is usually per scheduled, completed/reported, AND accepted by the client shop. All companies are different with their per accepted shop pay rate.

I don't know of any companies that pay their schedulers or editors per hour worked. That wouldn't make financial sense for the company.

Bottom line is this.
1. If the client doesn't accept the shop, no one gets paid.
2. Expect to work long hours and holidays and be available at all hours for shopper questions, problems, etc.

Agree w Joan, I tried editing and decided I would much rather shop. I got tired of calling folks on Thanksgiving and Christmas begging them to get reports in on time.

You've been shopping for seven years and only worked with two MSC's?

Like Joan said, be prepared to work a lot of hours. There is currently another thread right now where a shopper believes schedulers should be available every 2-3 hours (by email or text) 7 days a week..... and this shopper isn't alone in their beliefs.

Personally I take days off every now and then. It depends on the company you are working with if they are ok with that.

The pay isn't nearly what you can make as a shopper BUT you never have to leave your house which can be invaluable to some.

I would suggest A Closer Look as they seem to ALWAYS be looking for schedules.

If you live near the MSC, some do hire full-time schedulers.

KSS has full time schedulers in an office, as far as I know. Not all of them, but some of them.

If you become a scheduler, you'd have to deal with people like me. I would not wish that on anybody....

I've done both scheduling and editing. By far, editing is worse. People are incredibly stupid.

ACL only contracts editors and schedulers from their shopper pool. If you haven't done quite a few shops for them first they will not consider using you.

@JASFLMT is correct. ACL sources schedulers and editors from their shopper pool. I have been trying to get in with them for years and finally was told it’s because I needed to do more shops with them for them to be able to consider my application.
I too have been wanting to move into a (preferably) scheduler or editor position. I’ve tried with several companies and have had no luck.

Does everyone here realize that you are looking at less than $10 a hour to schedule from home? It might be closer to $5 an hour. Why do you think that the majority of their schedulers last less than three months?

I have a new one that is driving me nuts. Can't wait for her to go away.

Here's the latest:

I am now taking requests for premier shops!we have had an AMAZING month, but we still have a few shops left!
Pick up one of my final shops and get a first pick when premier shops come in!
Note: premier shops are not in yet and are currently unknown, but you will be contacted first for preassign!
First schedule, first pick!
Happy Shopping!!

Take a mediocre shop during Christmas week (WITH NO FEE) and get first choice of something maybe next month. If ten shoppers are picking up shops, you don't really get FIRST choice, do you? Kill the over use of the exclamation point already!!!!!!

Besides - empty promises. She'll be gone soon enough, I hope.

Right now I would be thrilled to work full time for minimum wage, in my own home.

ACL is, IMHO, misleading. Their "invitation" to apply for the scheduler's job says if you haven't completed a job for them, they can schedule one for you during the application process. I read that as IMPLYING that ONE shop is enough.

Not true. I've done five shops for them, and they are definitely NOT considering my application.

If ACL is not experiencing an increase in the number of shops in need of being scheduled and they are always looking for schedules, they have a problem with turnover. Pondering the potential reasons for this would be prudent for those looking to be so engaged.

Why do so many schedulers leave? Are they doing such a good job that they are being hired away? Are they being paid so well that after a short time on the job, that they are able to quickly retire? Are they being underpaid? Are they overworked? Are unrealistic expectations being imposed on them? Are they not appreciated by management? Are they typically in such poor health that they die shortly after being hired?

yep a couple companies to date tho of course this was not my focus, it was mainly to eat for free during college, yet now im looking for opportunities to work from home because im having a hard time finding a job in my career post masters. hopefully being a scheduler would just add income to my flexible schedule, but i dont think id want to get into it for $5-10 an hour...

I was an editor 2005-2006 for ACL. I nade more money per hour babysitting in 1974. I can't imagine scheduling pay for them is much better.
