Observa Truck Stops

These assignments are grossly underpaid. They should offer and honest wage for honest work. $7.00 for an Audit is just bad.

You are, of course, welcome to your opinion. I have no interest in arguing with you, but I *am* happy to take your unwanted jobs.

In the meantime, I will gladly continue to make a positive contribution to this forum by sharing my experiences with this project. I am certain there are at least one or two members who are actually interested.
The good thing is there is NO limit to the shops + self assign and they pay you either same day or next day right to paypal. Wonderful, I have completed about 4 gas station audits and am now down to about 40 minutes (including triple checking my work) now and primarily target small gas stations I find it helpful to see the BUSY times (for google) and avoid as delays on lotto day will draw out the shop (I made the mistake on an FA picture audit). It is amazing how 7-11 has so many audits for like 3-4 MSC they must be bank full of cash.

Thanks alot again. This thread is a life saver, I even got the vest today cause it does look odd and I do get the occasional stare as MS who isn't used to that.
I notice a 2 dollar difference in price today 2 dollars less...and almost the same amount of shops (not like anyone is running out to do these shops besides myself of course)! WTH? I was sad cause not I will not be able to do these shops because it doesn't seem worth it to me. Plus it is raining today and I'm not doing extra work in poor conditions. Is this normal? I am able to see Canadian and US locations and the prices are all the same at 8.50. Is this a thing? already uninstalled the app on one phone and holding out it will change sometime or somehow get 'bonused' back to the original price.

Any thoughts? thank god for FA been able to save my ass and other pay the next shop mystery shop I booked last month hummm.

Shocker! Almost the same amount of shops for less. I am completely baffled rofl

anyone else experience this and is this normal?
I wonder if the original rates were in error. In my area they went up from $7 to $8.50 today, so perhaps this is what they were supposed to be all along?

No, Observa is not in the habit of lowering prices. This is a special project, however, so perhaps there was a glitch when it first went live? Either way, email support@observa.com. They may be able to help. Be sure to mention that you are in Canada and you are concerned about conversion rates. I can believe $8.50 in the USA, but your rate should be different.
No, it is odd even my 6 shops I preformed are all showing as 10.50 (paid shops). I guess the updated the payments in the wrong way for me anyways i will ask because no point in regressing in payments. They are a private company but the pay cut is odd and stopped me from shopping especially since I am faster. Shame and yeah I am emailing them because wth.
They (Support) never replied, lol that is not a good sign. This one will be on the back burner just for that. What type of support doesn't reply AT all. At least I know it is there if I ever got need to suck my pride back up or it gets bonused to the original price I performed. I just can never bring myself to do a MS for less I originally did it for...unless I originally did it for less like FA lol now I just wait until it is bonused ^_^
thanks!
They are slow to respond on Fridays, and not at all on weekends. These jobs aren't going anywhere, so wait until Monday. Let mekniw what you find out!

I was looking for more apps and just downloaded and was curious about others experiences. I see they only do gas stations, shame but it does pay 10 bucks which is manageable if it doesn't take too long. I have a measuring tape already so will go to the dollar store to see if I can get a longer one or Walmart. I have an Observa close to home so I will give it a try it is 0.2 miles away from me so why not. I'm nervous though but will swallow my pride, I heard it pays if approved within the hour? is this real? if so this might beat FA easy. I have been reading the negative reviews to get a feel for it. Skeptical but I think we might have a winner here smiling smiley

Questions:

1. Does Oberva pays in USD or CAD? since I'm canadian if it pays in USD. This would be of great help.

2. Another thing, do they easily accept shops? I mean I have like 127 shops completed for FA with 12 expired/3 rejected. I'm expecting for something similar.

3. Do they really pay in like an hour or so?

4. Is it only Gas station audits? (judging by what I'm seeing I'd say yes)?

5. Do shops ever get bonused? all the shops I'm seeing now say 48 days left (what does that mean? until it is taken off or reposted)

6. For 30 minutes, what the hell do they want you to do? I mean does it have like 100 pictures that type of long winded deal?

I wish it would provide more information, I already checked their FAQ and vague as hell.

Thanks and love this forum,

saves me so much time and guessing especially with new apps

@Mysteriousways

Hi, Jake from Observa here. I would love to help clarify some questions that have come up!

1. The payout listed for Observa opportunities is all in USD. If you are in Canada, PayPal will convert the payment to the equivalent amount in CAD.

2. We verify all Observations for accuracy and will reject if the answers do not match the photos attached or if the photos are of poor quality. We are constantly updating the questions and format to be easier to complete so as long as you follow the directions very closely it will result in a success! This data is extremely important to our customers, so we want to ensure that we are getting the most accurate answers possible.

3. For all Observations we pay out ASAP. As soon as your Observation has been verified you are paid immediately after. Due to the large number of Observations on the map our verification time has been slowed down to roughly a 72 hour window at the most. However many people are paid within the hour.

4. Currently, in Canada, we only have the gas station audits. Across the US, there are dozens of other campaigns with all different sorts of opportunities.

5. We are currently running a program to choose a daily $100 USD bonus recipient. For every gas station audit you do you will receive one entry into the pool and there is no limit to the number of entries! The recipient is chosen at random from the pool of gas station observations submitted within the previous 24 hours. The payout for an observation will be the amount listed when you click “Accept” on that specific opportunity. These opportunities will be available for some time yet, but the Bonus will only be going through May 31, so we encourage you to complete as many as you can before then!

6. The gas station audit is one of our longer observations due to the amount of data that is needed from the locations. Fortunately, a sizable portion of the data can be obtained via pictures which decreases the time needed to complete. Discussion with the manager/Employee, measuring of small signs, photographing pumps are among the things needed to complete this observation. To view the full instructions, you can click ‘Accept’ and then ‘Observe’ on the opportunity and scroll through it. You are not penalized for ‘accepting’ an opportunity and then clicking ‘decline’ if you do not complete it.

Since we have such a variance in the types of opportunities available, our FAQ is more on the general side, but more information about the gas station opportunities can be found here, or by clicking ‘Accept’ on one of the opportunities in the app: [www.observanow.com]

If you have any other questions, please reach out to us at support@observanow.com. Thanks!
Jake,

Thank you so much for adding to the thread! We love it when MSCs answer questions directly. I especially appreciate you answering the Canada questions, as that was one area I wasn't able to respond to. As for #2, I think Mysteriousways was asking for a subjective answer from a shopper's perspective (i.e. "compared to the notorious record at FA), and that is how I answered, but of course we all expect that data is verified.

If you feel I misspoke about anything else, please let me know. This is a forum for and by shoppers, and we do the best we can to answer each others' questions, but of course I only want to give out good information.
ETA: Jake, how will we find out who the winners are in the $100 drawing? And just for the record, a drawing is not a bonus, it is a contest.

To ensure the privacy of the Observers we do not release the bonus recipients information to the public. The recipient is notified via email and paid $100 USD via PayPal daily. We will continue to send out information regarding future bonuses and Observations, so keep an eye out for those!
Thanks for providing this detail, I like Observa and currently only doing the shops that pay the most which is Commercial shops and the pay is fast. The pay cut makes it not worth it going to the regular locations. I will check back as no one else seems to be preforming these shops where I'm at. I appreciate the feedback and definitely have this as an emergency fund shop because it pays sometimes within the HOUR! amazing. If only they could give instacash to my account it would be even better smiling smiley

The amount of work for the Gas station is equivalent to 45 minutes to an 1.5 especially for Commercial stations, regular stations can be done in 30 minutes if you go at non peak times. I do need the money but I will not be working myself for a lesser amount. I will wait smiling smiley
I, too, use them for emergency fund/fill shops. Here's a suggestion: use Google Maps 360 view to see what kind of station it is before you go. I am only taking 4-6 pump stations at this price.
On the up side, they are now offering *actual* bonuses for these. Unfortunately they have also doubled down on the illegal lottery.
Thinking about doing one shortly - does anyone know if observa still pays out on weekends? Or will i be waiting until tomorrow for my pay
I haven't done one yet, but they look pretty straightforward. Yes, they still pay on Sunday if you get them done early in the day. Afternoon ones may get pushed to tomorrow as they stop reviewing around 5pm, and these take awhile to review due to the large number of photos.
They do pay out on the weekends and I have done them (Truck Stop shops) but they are definitely more work in my opinion. I do anything they offer because they pay quick and don't fuss...unless you don't take the pictures they want. I always take extra pictures just in case and use any criticism to improve my shops. They never did get back to me about closed shops or shops permanently with no attendant or that isn't an actual gas station. They said we should get paid anyways but I'm not sure they mean that. I went to at least 2 shops that were closed or not gas stations. I'm hoping the rep that responds to posts will say something soon smiling smiley

Good luck and Go for it and some tips that helped me out.

1. Have print outs of the Authorization sheet.
2. Have at least 2 measuring tapes.
3. Have a visibility jacket. I got mine at Walmart, hell I even saw one at the dollar store.
4. Be organized and follow their directions. Count the number of pumps to ensure you didn't miss one.

I found I cut my time is down to about 25-30 minutes occasionally 45 minutes down from about 1.5.

Thank you for all that info I was wondering if they were that type of shop. I won't have time as I'm on a statewide run and already timed out my route and didn't allow too much time inbetween. Thanks so much!
What do the gas station and truck stops involve and how long do they take you? I'm looking at the app now but I can't see the guidelines or project scope. All it mentions is bring a tape measure. I'd like to know how many photos I have to take before accepting it (:

The 30 minute shops take an hour and a half?

The first time I did it yes because I was not prepared and it isnt like you can just accept it to see the shop. It has more pictures than I expected but once you know what to do and DO NOT choose Lotto day lol Like I did. You can accomplish it faster and it becomes routine.
