1099 for IPSOS

Has anyone had a 2020 1099 tax statement yet for IPSOS? I think it's normally early Feb so I'm probably a bit early to expect it.
I'm wondering if it will be one for everything or will there be a separate one from Maritz from the start of the year, and then three different ones for Ipsos (Ipsos legacy, Sassie and Shopmetrics). Not sure whether to separate these on my tax return or lump them all together.
I keep records throughout the year and just want to reconcile.

Thanks for your reply.
forgot about Presto - I did do a couple of shops for them in the summer. Have you done other IPSOS shops?
Yes, across all platforms and Maritz. I do most of my work with IPSOS so I'm expecting 1099's from all.

Recently, I received one from Maritz. It appears to only include those months prior to Maritz being purchased.
Good to know! Maybe one more separation on my accounting - I think I have four or five already.

I went through everything last night and double checked in case I don't get all the 1099s. I normally don't wait for them and just do the return from my records, but maybe I'll give it another week or two this year under the circumstances. I haven't got any 1099s yet from any companies.
Last year there was one company I work for that uses paypal that sent me a notice saying that if they use paypal they do not have to send a 1099. It very possibly was IPSOS. All the more reason to keep good records. I use my own records anyway to fill out my tax forms. The 1099 is just a double check for me.
Has anyone heard if they are considering delaying the filing date again this year? After all we are still in covid and not only us but the companies may still be having issues with short staff, opening and closing and opening again and then closing again so perhaps they will announce another delay in the date for filing and for sending out 1099's.

CSE has that position.

They think that they are "right" and the other 100 or so MSC's are wrong. Laughable.
Oh yes you are right. It was CSE but I looked it up last year on the IRS website somewhere and it said that they were allowed to do that. I suppose the intention might have been that paypal sends out the 1099 and sorts it by company but that never happened.
Remember everyone that if you earn less than $600 for the year in non reimbursable $$ from a particular msc they do not need to send a 1099. CSE was the only company I should have gotten a 1099 from. I did get one from another company that failed to back out the reimbursements.

If a company uses Paypal to send you money, they are not supposed to send you a 1099 under IRS rules. The burden shifts to Paypal, but the threshold is not $600, but rather much higher. This is from the PayPal website regarding their obligation to send 1099K forms:

"PayPal will track the payment volume of your account to check whether your payment volume exceeds both of these levels in a calendar year:

$20,000 USD in gross payment volume from sales of goods or services in a single calendar year
200 payments for goods or services in the same year."

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
More and more of my companies use paypal every year. The IRS rules leave one more headache off their taxes list so it becomes a plus for them even if they pay a fee to use paypal. They still would need to file their own taxes but paypal would be smart to offer that service to them, maybe they do.
Be careful when reviewing your PayPal tax statement. Last year I noticed that there was a cash back website payout listed right along with my MS and other work payments.
What is CSE?

Yes, filing date set back -- IRS will not accept returns before Feb 12.

I, too, file based on my own records. 1099s are just back up for me.

Maritz was not purchased. Martiz sold their MS operations to IPSOS. MS was a very small part of Maritz. Maritz continues to operate in their core, non MS, business.

Those companies that pay via PayPal ought not issue 1099-MISC. The funds are covered by the 1099-K issued by PayPal. Amazingly, many MSCs do not understand this.
The big discrepancy is that we get 1099's if we earn $600 directly from the msc but nothing from Paypal unless it is over $2000 or whatever their minimum is for having to send their version of the 1099. I did not receive anything from Paypal and earned over $600 from CSE.
Not me. The only one I've got so far is from Intellishop. I've done my return and just listed Ipsos/Maritz together, but separated the different parts.
I received mine from Maritz. They will be separate from IPSOS. I was wondering if anyone has received the 1099 or if they know who to contact. The general e-mail rarely responds. They are supposed to be mailed by the 31 of January.
Well, I've printed my 1099-K from my PayPal account.
Unlike the Maritz 1099, it only shows the total amount paid through PayPal.
For me, as I have limited my MSCs to just Maritz/PayPal and no others it should be a simple process.
If anyone else has done this (limited to this particular MSC(s), the simple solution for this year is to go to the old platform (I Shop For IPSOS - formerly the Maritz platform) and print out its detailed report. On it, there should be the Shop Fee, Product Reimbursement and "Other" Reimbursement (incentives, etc that should be included as part of the additional Shop Fee.
If IPSOS does not send a detailed 1099 as Maritz did, life shall become a little more difficult in future years, as tracking all of this shall be up to the shopper.
I'm already creating a spreadsheet for myself for this year for next year.

PS: I might also add that we should be cautious in accepting payments from other parties such as selling something and agreeing to accept the purchase amount via PayPal. Just one more thing to explain to the IRS.

Today, I received a 1099-NEC from IPSOS.

Here is the important part: This 1099-NEC includes the entire year!
Meaning (unless I am wrong), the Maritz 1099-NEC should not be reported.
How do I know?
I referred back to the old Maritz platform (now referred to as I Shop For IPSOS) and totaled up the entire year's worth of Shop Fees and Other Reimbursement. The result is the same as the IPSOS 1099-NEC.
Happily, IPSOS only shows in Box 1 Nonemployee Compensation, only the Shop Fee and any other payments like incentives, etc. It does not include the product purchases.

BTW, the Maritz 1099-NEC covers the 3 payment periods of January 15, January 31 and February 14.
Received my Ipsos 1099 today. I'll have to check to make sure that the reimbursements were not included. Last year they had to send out a corrected 1099.
In Illinois this year there is a new law starting with the 2020 tax year that Forms 1099-K (PayPal) must be submitted electronically to Illinois taxpayers when four or more separate transactions exceed $1,000. The federal threshold is $20,000 so this is a big change. This means that if you received more than $1000 in PayPal payments in 2020 PayPal issues you a 1099-K. I am assuming that that the companies will not also issue 1099's to Illinois taxpayers.
I received two from IPSOS today. Both with the same ID# and address, but each had different amounts. I haven't received one from Maritz. I'm wondering if one was for Maritz before switching to IPSOS and the other from IPSOS. It's going to be a PITA to go through my pay statements to try and figure it out. Should I be expecting a separate one from Maritz?

Do like what I did. Go to the old Maritz website (now called I Shop For IPSOS) and review the payment options. You should be able to see every transaction for year 2020. you should be able to discern what you were paid.
That's it. One of the IPSOS 1099's totals exactly what my Maritz payments were without reimbursements. I'm surprised someone stated above that they received a 1099 from Maritz then. Mine is clearly from IPSOS. So one of the two I received from IPSOS is for Maritz shops and the other is for IPSOS. So, confusing. My taxes are already completed, but I like to check the 1099s anyway of course.

greetings i have yet to get my 1099s but i have the amount, I need the Tax ID to file for my taxes. Can someone tell me how to get it? or better yet copy of my 1099?
You don’t need their Tax ID for a schedule C, you just list the company name.
