IPSOS in-person event?

I have a love-hate relationship with Ipsos. Based on the idea of the conservation of momentum, I assume they have a corresponding love-hate relationship with me. I think my attendance would be risky for both parties.

So the basic fee is, what, $35? Who was it that said, "Never pay a company for mystery shopping information?" Oh, yeah, EVERYBODY!!!

My thoughts exactly. Hate to sound like a pompous A-hole, but what is the purpose? After a more than a couple decades doing this I doubt there is ANYTHING new to learn. No thank you, shops don't pay that well.

As far as I see, the purpose for them is to spend OUR money (money they could be using to pay us fair fees and consistently denied bonuses) while rubbing our noses in it, laughing about it and promoting themselves as super trendy and fun.
IPSOS did a meet and greet at a Saturday Market and then a bar reception in the evening in Tampa. Both events were free. It was great to meet and chat with the schedulers. They gave out a swag bag with an IPSOS logo reflective vest and some other cool items.

Perfectly sums up my feelings. I could not have said it better myself. They can afford to hold these events and make people feel special, but they have to aggressively attempt to lower mystery shopping pay in the middle of an inflationary recession. It is insulting and belittling to the professionals that work so hard to get their shops done.

We have been shopping for years and years, and we do a great job. We travel to every remote corner of the Galaxy to get some of these locations done. We don't need any swag, and we don't need a workshop. We just need to get paid. I strongly believe they are trying to replace us. All of the evidence leads to that.

I am in north Alabama, and it is close enough that I gave it some thought. Being real though, I just plain don't like driving in Atlanta. I don't particularly like driving anyway, never did, but there is not another city that I have ever driven in my entire life that I like driving less. So no, I am not inclined to pay money to go to a meeting there. They'd have to be paying me, or at least have some kind of potentially useful incentive to make it worth the hassle and expense of the trip, and I am not seeing that. It is just far enough away, I'd have to stay over night, so more expense. I just don't see the value in it. I am seriously considering Pittsburgh next June though.

15 years and counting...I don't see what I could learn,
by spending money to earn more money (maybe).
In my opinion, it should be FREE to us !!
We make a TON of MONEY for them, and we get the scraps
thrown on the floor !!
So did anyone end up going to this? Did you learn anything? How was the Panda Express? Did they thank you and ask for a donation?
I live less than 30 mi from the Atlanta event and I hate driving in Atlanta. 30 mi could mean 45 minutes or 3 hours depending on traffic. I didn't go but wonder if anybody else did?
I think ColoKate63 was the only one openly saying they were considering going.

Would be nice for @ColoKate63 to let us know if they attended.
I paid, but had the death of a close friend and did not attend. Was flying and staying on points, so I only lost $60.

Sad to hear this. Please accept my condolences.
There was a group photograph on the website with the Queen in the middle, but it is only of a small amount of people, 11, I think, plus cardboard Fred. Maybe the others were editors and associates?
Can you provide the url/link to where you can see this?

Well, now I see they added that photograph on the main screen at: ishopforipsos.com Right on the left the little picture window shows it as the first frame. Then the frames advance to each new section. You can click on the first dot below whatever frame it is on to get back to that first picture and zoom out to see the folks.
Yup, just viewed it. If you right click on the photo, it should have an option to "View Image" or something similar. Choose that and the image is a little bigger. On my laptop I can "Ctrl" and "+" to make the image larger. One does wonder if that's all that showed up!
Being just a state away, I looked hard at it, and am also curious how it turned out. I just couldn't justify the time and money it would have ended up costing me to go. Also, I do understand that we are independent contractors, but depending on the circumstances, charging admission for this is almost akin to charging for a job interview, or even an employee meeting. That in itself was just plain odd. Even in contractual relationships, I have never, ever in my entire life, and I am not a spring chicken, seen a charge for such a meeting.

First of all: how embarrassing.

And, yes, they could EASILY figure out who are their top shoppers and throw them a couple of bones. However, if they did that, they would ACTUALLY BE HELPING shoppers. That goal is at the bottom of their totem pole, if it even makes it there. Instead, they will charge so that it helps them.

I think their idea of throwing a couple of bones to top shoppers would translate into free swag so they would benefit from free advertising.
So sorry for your loss. My condolences and sympathies.
