SERVICE WITH STYLE: How are they to work for?

Never shopped for them, but their sample reports on their website seemed very long. So how is this msc in general ?

Thanks Much.

Been a long time, but used to do this pizza chain regularly years ago. Their platform was Prophet for those shops. No issues, straightforward, general guidelines. Fair fee and reimbursement.

Not sure how their shop style is these days.

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!
Been shopping for a long time. Either I have never heard of them or they never made an impression with me that I remember the name. Maybe they just did not shop in Southern California so I was never did anything for them. Would be nice to hear from others if they have big national clients and what the pay/reports are like.
They're on Shopmetrics now. Here's a link in case anyone wants to sign up. In my area of NW South Carolina, they seem to have restaurant shops. Not my cup of tea, but probably is for somebody else.... [sws.shopmetrics.com]
Nice, polite staff. Non problematic report as long as you do everything asked, ha ha. Long report, pictures, timings, minimal reimbursement. Think ACL like.
Oh boy. I haven't missed anything then. I don't need to work for another ACL-type company. There is NO problems with ACL, but I choose to find easier, shorter assignments.
Yeah, I'm not putting down the company. Seems like they ran a good operation. However, I'm looking for "quick hits", not things that take 3x as long and don't pay as well. I would rather do three $15 paying shops than to do 1 $50 reimburse (no pay) dinner shop that will have me writing for an eternity. If I really want to eat at the $50 dinner place, i can take the $45 pay I just made and enjoy myself and not be subject to the shop limitations and requirements.

I have never encountered a A-C-L shop with significant writing demands. Coyle, yes. A-C-L, never.

@ Rousseau Where did I say there were writing demands? Plus, I never mentioned Coyle but you did. I love ACL and Coyle. :-)

You said that they required "long reports." Not sure how a report can be long without writing demands.
I did several senior/assisted living shops for ACL. The reports were long and required a lot of details. One editor made things even worse. I have not done another one for ACL since.
Maybe things have changed with ACL, but I call them "too close of a look." They did a national pizza chain for a good amount of time (Lebron James invested) and wanted way too many details to make it worth it or enjoyable.

I have done some upscale dining with them too. ACL wants more detail than many other MSC doing similar shops. Everyone's definition of "long reports" or "writing demands" is different, but let's not act like ACL has the easier/shorter reports in the industry.

If I was a client, I would love the ACL reports due to the amount of details. As a shopper, I don't like the amount of detail required (for the lack of pay).
I only completed a single assignment for ACL, as the work:pay ratio was totally unacceptable to me.
I've done a number of their hotel shops over the past few years & all with great success. Suddenly I wasn't being accepted for them anymore, I emailed and the woman said I was no longer eligible for hotel shops with them.

I've asked for a reason why, if I did something wrong on a shop or something? Nobody will answer me! Super frustrating
I'm going to reverse-hijack the thread from ACL/Coyle back to Service With Style...

Have done several shops for them with a "micro-chain" of sports-minded gastro-pubs in my area. Reports are middling in difficulty, the writing demands aren't steep but you have to write SOMETHING, even if it's one sentence, on nearly every question.

Fees are meh. The type of shop I do, however, allows you to do it either alone or with a guest. Reimbursement of $50 max is the same regardless, so it's probably inadequate if there are two of you but if you do it alone, reimbursement is great, and that works for me (George Thorogood drank alone. I shop alone. "Yeahhhhh with nobody else"winking smiley. To sweeten the reimbursement pot, since it's a cash-only shop, your receipt won't include tip and they take your word on the tip and reimburse for it. My bill usually runs to about $40 and I'll tip in the $8-$10 range which gets me in under the $50 limit.

Schedulers are responsive, and accommodating regarding rescheduling if needed.

That's all I can add because they only have two clients in my area, the other is a "health-foodie" breakfast-lunch micro-chain and I'm not really into acai-berry-and-pumpkinseed salads so no insight there.

In my limited experience, good company to work with overall.
I completed a single assignment, in 2006, for this MSC. I only recall the job due to three unusual points. First, the E-notice stated I could visit any day the eatery was serving except Sat., Sun., Mon., Tues, Weds. or Thurs. Secondly, the fee of $10 was at the very top of what was being paid, during that period, for dining. Finally, I was required to enter the restaurant no earlier than noon and to exit by 01:00 PM.
This would be right up my alley, but once again, nothing in TX.

The shop I did 2 weeks back softens the blow though. Restaurant in a hotel close to the stadium. My better half was upset at me. I asked her if she wanted to cancel the shop as I did but she declined. The chef was standing next to a table by the open kitchen with a thermometer. He was checking every dish as it was being prepared. In his absence, two other staff members removed thermometers of their own. Interesting.

Best part came while we had the main course, duck breast and lamb chops. She was quiet for a while, then said, "This is the best lamb I've had in my life". I smiled.

I could feel the brownie points accumulating as the dinner progressed. This shop has been approved but I would have been ok if it did not.

Thank you all. You compared different MSC reports when possible. You shared your experiences, and my take-away is that working for Service with Style is a mixed bag. Some shoppers find it great! Other shoppers find no convenient work with them. Apparently, some shoppers have an excellent working relationship with staff. It is always a good sign when staff members are capable of developing good working relationships with the shopperforce. ! smiling smiley

From my experience amazing. The schedulers I worked with were helpful and very friendly. However most of the shops I completed was when I lived on the east coast. Sadly I am now west and have only come across 1 shop in my area.
