Is it just me or has everything suddenly stopped with them. January-June they were crazy busy and July there is very little. Has anyone else noticed this? and is everything Ok with them?

They are playing their fee game again. Start out at $9 raise it to $11 today it is $15. These are the card replacement shops that take way more time than a $9 fee is worth.

I haven't seen any shops near me this month either. Pretty much card replacement was all I was seeing near me lately. I hadn't seen the doctor office restocking/change-outs in quite a while.
Big Sky I wonder if 9 is their lucky number. So much seems to start off there.

Wrosie I thought those doctor office changeouts were every six months. I only saw one in my area.a few months ago when there were a lot more in the fall. One place I went to back then hadn't been done in 5 years according to the date of the papers that were there.

The last time I saw the smokeless product was in September. They were paying a decent rate compared to Merchandiser who was paying less than half to do the same thing.
The smokeless product was purchased by the very large tobacco company and stopped the merchandising when the purchase was complete. Hopefully when they begin to start their merch program they will go back to Customer Impact.
Good morning! This time of year is always a little slow in our merchandising world. We should have a lot more projects picking back up as we get into August and September, and out Q4 is always very busy so hopefully we can get you all going with lots of visits again soon!

Also an update...the large program we did replenishing brochure displays in Dr's offices was sunsetted by that company at the beginning of this year. We hope to do more work with them but they are no longer providing that brochure program in offices.

And the above poster is correct, once the vape company was fully acquired, all 3rd party merchandising ceased with the new owners. Our hope down the road is they will re-consider 3rd party merchandising support again, and if they do I feel we would obviously love to start it back up.

We do have some more new customers and projects coming up as well as some large projects with our classic customers. Stay tuned!

When I did my route last month, they had $50 re-stock shops for cards all around west Texas. Today...none. Hopefully they will rise up back to the level they were at the end of this month--I have another three day route planned for west Texa.
metro - email me at dprice@customerimpactinfo.com and let me know what days you plan to hit west TX and where...we do have an upcoming project that will have some out that way. Stores we normally don't always visit for this customer but the in-store work should be fairly easy and quick.

Hope to hear from you soon!
Pretty dead in my neck of the woods.

Or maybe they are mad I bailed on a handful of footwear resets because the time requirement as posted was off by some 300% and they were not willing to pay more to get them done.

Have synthesizers, will travel...
Dave - great to hear you guys have some new customers and projects on the horizon. I really enjoy your projects and love working with your team. They are responsive and friendly and super organized - really helps make our jobs smoother. Kudos!

My guess is that for at least two of their clients who sell seasonal stuff, this is the doldrums. Next month may have a reset shop or at least by September.

Do not read so much, look about you and think of what you see there.

losing the brochures stinks… i always did a lot of those. prepaid cards is still a huge one but what i’ve noticed over the years is at most of the stores the spots they get on the planogram have become less and less almost everywhere. like when i look back to a location i did in 2016 and see 20 pegs plus checkout lanes for a card, that today in 2023 has only 2 pegs. i hope these cards won’t eventually be phased out.

I've thought similar, especially with the rise of things like cash app, zelle, etc, but all of those really serve a different purpose. I googled about the prepaid cards and was surprised at the numbers, and don't know if they'll be going out of stores anytime soon.

I can't name the client here so I'm not going to paste in the link but this is from one of the articles I saw:

According to the most recent available statistics, the prepaid card industry was valued at $1.73 trillion in 2019 and is expected to reach $6.87 trillion by 2030. The most popular type of card is a general-purpose card, followed by gift cards. The popularity of prepaid cards is due to the fact that they allow the end-user to set their cost limit in accordance with their budget. Furthermore, prepaid cards are becoming an alternative to cash and other cards for both personal and business use where users would prefer not to link a card to a credit or debit account.

I did several Customer Impact jobs last year, mainly cooler checks for a large beverage distributor, and always found the CI team extremely responsive and helpful. Hoping the cooler check jobs come back this fall!
There is a lot more direct outreach via email before posting. Given the company employee's email, I guess it makes sense if it is slow, just lock it in from someone if not much is going on. If it does not hit the board at all or a posting delay, easier to entice. The low fee stuff works for some people if you are in an area where work is dense, bundling between companies or projects for a decent route, bundling for the simple convenience of fast work near the house. The high fees are good, I will road trip for that in the right combination of factors, but sometimes the trade-off for reduced fees works out given gas prices or family responsibilities.

$9 for 30 min !!! Why would anyone take these ???
Travel time and fuel is needed too !
I thought it sounded easy and I considered it until I read the part about needing to ask for the back stock. Nope, once you have to get an employee involved it can be a huge time drain.
Customer Impact seems to have totally exited the MS industry in favor of the merchandising industry. Not sure why people still post about them in the Mystery Shopping forum rather than the merchandising forum.
i doubt any of these would take that long. looks like it's just 2 sku's we need to put stickers on... could be 5-10 minute visits. i agree though, nothing is worth $9.

I have done a lot of "sticker" placements for them, NEVER for $9 !
The lowest, was $18 and took a average of 22 minutes (2 years ago).
ok, if i thought it'd actually take 30 minutes i wouldn't have assigned any. putting stickers on 2 types of blocks of cream cheese is not going to take very long, i've done a lot of sticker jobs, they go fast, and once you get in a rhythm, lightning speed. maybe if you did ones at lowes taping up packages or removing pallets or whatever, it's different. this job is straight forward, no variables. maybe i'm wrong, i'll let you know.

Sorry, I'm worth more then $9 (plus travel time and fuel).
Enjoy your low pay ! McDonalds and other jobs (at least in Delaware, start at $15 an hour)I'm not working at those either. Was a manager for fast food back in the 80's and 90's. 5 stops = $45, minus travel and your own time and fuel. (then waiting to the following month to get paid !)

How about if you have to locate the dairy manager or associate to look for back stock? Or checking in at customer service as a vendor? Easily either of these could tack on an extra 15 min each. These are just 2 ways the "simple $9 15 minute" job goes off the rails.
I agree with Jay that usually once you've done a few, you can move quickly on your next visit.

I also agree with Claabe - Yes, this is absolutely where things can go off the rails. Or a customer service associate who doesn't understand what you're there for, so they call 3 different people over to talk to you. Stores being remodeled so no one knows where to check for backstock. Or 5 old ladies blocking the cream cheese area. Etc.

claabe: you beat me to this question! I too think $9 for any shop is not worth it. Get the employee/back stock involved and whamo there is way too much time involved.
Just to sum up everything...States 30 minutes per stop, finding back stock, getting someone to help you and then dealing with consumers shopping. I have done Tyson and other products at grocery stores (never Lowes). It is more time consuming then you think. Where I live (At the BEACH area), there are tons of tourists !!! UGH sad smiley sad smiley
Even doing card placements or expired removals, can get tedious (customers)
No matter how you slice it, under paid !!
i never check in anywhere unless it's absolutely necessary(wouldn't be for these). i used to check in when i was just starting out and all it did was waste time and occasionally cause issues and awkwardness. i'm not there to deal with that. i'm there to get the company the data they need, and get out. remember, we have our lanywards on, so we look the part. i keep an LOA in my pocket just in case(when there is one) but no one ever says anything to me unless in the smaller stores sometimes. when you ask the guy/girl if there's backstock, 90% of the time they say "everything we have is out on the shelf." if they're really low in stock, then there's a chance there's backstock.

Just as jay225 has said when I recently did an Observa shop at Walmart I just did the shop without registering in the vendor book.

When I asked about the back stock, the supervisor then said she had to contact the bigger supervisor who looked at the LOA and asked if it had been sent to them previous to the shop.

I said probably no, and he wouldn't even pull up the back stock on his hand held computer gizmo let alone let us check in the back. His reasoning was, they hadn't been notified.

I can completely understand that

Luckily my Observa shop was approved without the picture of the back stock.

BTW, I did a Observa shop today that took about 30 minutes. I did it a month ago for $8 because I was in the grocery store. The same shop I did today because I was in the store was only $6 and I said I won't ever do the shop again, even if I'm in the store.

I thought since it was a lower pay it might have been a different shop but it wasn't.
