I don't go into Walmart, nor will I try to convince or try to get an unsuspecting employee to do something that could get them in trouble, or do something illegal. So that basically leaves me out of more than half of Bare Internationals shops.
On this forum, the rule is not to name the clients of the mystery shopping company.

I haven't done any jobs like that.

Morledzep,

These are not the shops you're thinking about. They are just going in and asking you to send money to a person and then cancelling the transaction.

I've done several recently at grocery stores when they get to $30.

If the customer service person knows what to do it's an easy 15 minute shop. If they don't it's still a somewhat easy 30-40 minute shop.

I haven't done a Walmart shop because I think I'd have to wait in line to do the purchase and then the cancellation. I might be in line trying to cancel longer than the maximum time to cancel without penalty.

Perhaps do it at low volume times, early or late.
Thanks!

I believe that in the Walmart ones, you have to return the next day with a "complaint." That's the deal-breaker for me.
They never pay at all. I did one years ago. The scheduler kept coming back to me and making things up that I did or I did or didnt do then refusing to pay. I did the shop correctly. They made up everything that happened. They werent there. Why have things mystery shopped? They tend to do this with all their shops. Im a veteran shopper. 25 years. I wont do their shops.
I've done their various money transfer shops in the past. I avoid them now because it'll become a huge time-suck if you get a clerk who doesn't know what they're doing.

I was never a huge fan of Bare, but even less so now. They're using schedulers based out of India (I know this because of auto-signature contact information in an email) who don't understand Bare's own shop rotation rules. I'm used to dealing with non-US-based help when I call about my credit card - Bare has taken it to a whole other level.

They just bonused the Wal-Mart shop in my area and dropped the requirement to return the next day to complain so I accepted at $35.

It was the fastest and smoothest money transfer and cancel shop I've ever done.

My guess is since Walmart only charges $3 and everyone else I've done charges $5, the employees see a lot of these interactions.

I do agree with the two posts above about the scheduler not knowing, but luckily for me the editor understood.

I forgot to take a picture of the front of Walmart. I uploaded the Walmart receipt with the address and date and time in it's place. The scheduler told me to go back to get the picture and the editor said I'll make a note and sent the shop along.

Now let's see if I get paid.

My fault, but I wasn't going to ride the bus for over an hour to take the picture.
Not that it is our problem as shoppers, but when you ask for a $20 transaction don't they KNOW you are a shopper? Who does that? Actually who uses WU at all except for international transfers? And then when you cancel they definitely know at that point, since they have been pulling this exact same scenario forever! Again, what normal customer would do any of this?

In these assignments, it's always to someone in another country. I do wonder if they recognize a shopper, especially for these assignments at the little stores where it's always the same clerk working there. I wonder if it would be different at walmart, where they have so many staff members.

The one I did last month at the Walmart service desk was the fastest and easiest of these I've ever done. The employee was very familiar with both processes. I'm guessing it's because they do alot since their fee is less and Walmart is frequented more by the people who use this service.

When I've done them at a grocery store chain, the employees normally have to find someone to help them.

Now granted there was also no line for the purchase or cancellation when I did the Walmart shop. I've waited a LONG time when using their service desk for returns and stuff.
I enjoy these. I think they are easy. The only thing about the Walmart ones that I don't like is that I normally have to wait in line. Avoid going after 3pm, near the end of the month, or near the beginning of the month. The Walmart Money Services counter also handles bill pay, which seems to be what most people are doing so lines can get long at certain times.

I do get the same person from time to time at one non-Walmart location. I'm not sure if they've picked up I'm shopping them. They tend to just being going through the motions and are often distracted by other things going on in the store.
