Chipotle Shops

EIGHT shops?! Wow, I had trouble scheduling four.

I noticed that this month's shopping window has been expanded to 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. That works great for me. I am trying the ROFL taco(s) on my first shop today. I have eight shops assigned for February. As much as I like Chipotle, I can't handle that much food.

It gets worse: I was just assigned another, but this one is near my house. They really need more shoppers in Southern California area. With all the colleges around, one would think a student would be interested in a free meal!

You would think with all the actors there would be more shoppers! Between the flexible schedules and the "free" food, MSing is a win win.

How do you schedule 9 shops? I do my shops on Sundays so I can have leftovers for lunch. I have four Chipotle shops this month and a California Tortilla. That's pushing it for me.

I love their food also, even the chips. Every bite of my bowl has a different flavor. I'm hooked on the fully loaded carnitas bowls. Tomorrow will be a simple taco, and Sunday will be two rofl tacos.

Okay, I went back two, three, even four pages looking for the definition of rofl tacos.. I never found it...are you rolling on the floor laughing because you got such a great deal on a taco instead of a burrito? What does the rofl part mean?
Thanks

It's relating to a member of this forum with 'rofl' in their name.

Basically, just order a single taco, but order typically what you would get in a bowl or burrito.

sandy, the roflwofl pos with the taco recipe has disappeared, as well as the quotes. rofl said to get a single flour taco and load it like a bowl so you get a bowl for the price of a taco.

I wonder why it disappeared.

the recipe is in a different thread...[www.mysteryshopforum.com] near the bottom of the page. It's in roflwofl's response to Caligirl925

This one is confusing. HonnyBrown, the description is in your original "Chipotle Shops" post under Mystery Shopping Discussion. There are now two mega-threads on the general topic. I am going for the ROFL taco, too. I think of it as a loaded taco or perhaps a tostada is a better description. - shredded lettuce, beans, a bit of protein, salsa and cheese. Yum.

Chris, thank you for the clarification!

Ahh, rofl refers to roflwofl...i always call roflwofl shopper roffle waffle. I remember the taco description but missed that it was named after roffle waffle. How great is that to have a taco named after you! And a waffle.
Chris provided the link, but here is the text for the rofl taco:

When I order a single taco, I actually order exactly the same ingredients I order in a bowl. The only difference between my taco and my bowl is that the taco is served in a soft flour tortilla, which I usually discard. When ordering the single taco, the server asks if I want flour or corn and then asks what I want in it. In my flour tortilla, I get rice, beans, one meat, green salsa, corn salsa, cheese, and lettuce. I ask for sour cream on the side. My taco is usually so so large they put it into a basket but it still has the single-taco price. Servers seem to have a problem gauging portion control on a build-your-own taco, so my taco usually ends up half, or sometimes more, the size of a bowl.

I did a shop today. I ordered two crispy tacos (not rofl tacos) and kids chips & guac. My total came to $8.75. I ate one taco in the store, and the other one will be for dinner.

The kids chips are small (the bag). They are maybe 1/4 the size of a regular size bag. The chips were $0.95, but the guac was still $2.13.

Good to know about the size of the kids chips. I must say that I like my Ziplock bag of leftover Chipotle chips that I keep in the freezer. That said, the smaller kid-size does provide an option for folks who cannot resist eating a whole full-size bag in one sitting.

In my area, my usual order of a sofritas salad (no drink) and the regular chips is $8.75. BTW, the import tax possibility on avocados is causing quite a media stir in relationship to Chipotle corporate. Chipotle is a huge buyer of avocados. Here in SoCal, we get local avocados but you know the price will be same as imported. It is amusing that the topic is being tied to Chipotle and its menu offerings. While on the topic of guac, I recall that in training we were told that if we get a veggie entree (fajitas, no meat) it is supposed to come with guac included. At training, I ordered three tacos and the server forgot to put the guac on. I haven't tried the all-veggie version since then.

Depends on the manager or crew member of the visit, since that particular coupon requires the order of an entree (3 tacos, burrito, bowl or salad).

Nope entree is considered a taco..... a burito etc

not just a beverage for example....

LOL, In my head that;s how I pronounce that username, too. It sounds like an entree at IHOP, but now we know it works for Mexican, too. smiling smiley
And the coupon requires that you give an email address. I get enough junk email without doing that. It isn't worth the one-time gain for long-term scam.

It is included! I get veggie bowls all the time because I love the guac more than the proteins and can't justify the calories unless I omit chicken or carnitas or whatever else I would have gotten. Just order a "veggie" whatever (bowl, salad, burrito, tacos, etc.). The salsa person at the end where the guac is on the line is almost never the original person who took your order, so they won't offer the guac, but if you ask for it, it comes with it (kinda like the fajitas veggies which no one ever offers me and I always have to ask for). They'll start to tell you that it's extra and ask if that's OK, just tell them you got a veggie bowl. Good luck on your guac endeavors. I am a guacamole proselytizer, spreading the good guac word where ever I go. grinning smiley

I saw this in the Tech Time in an article about 2017 growth plans for Chipotle:
"Will patrons also see changes on the Chipotle menu? Not really, as new menu items will not be a significant part of the business today given its drive for simplicity and faster lines inside stores. Chipotle, however, is currently testing a dessert item that adds a single ingredient not already found in stores."

I am guess bunuelos - anyone else have a guess? This would just require cinnamon sugar which is a very inexpensive ingredient.

nope google for a free one with NO email required it is out there

Thanks for letting me know. I did the "game - whacka-guac" on the Chipotle site - at the end it asked for a email. I will do a work-around. I have a shop to do today.

Edited to say I wrote this in response to PuaM and after my reply was in saw that CaliGirl had already answered her. But i will leave in my response and you can skip it if you want.
I have been ordering the Veggie salad for a long time and for several years I always had to ask for the guac to be added. It was never offered and half the time when I asked for it they told me it would be extra. I ended up having to educate the crew about that. For the past year or more I have never been told I have to pay extra and most of the time they ask me first about guac. I have never gotten the taco but the other day I went and did a fake online order to see what would come with a veggie taco and the guac was listed there as free. So go for it and just tell them you are having veggie so guac comes with it if they try to charge.
By the way the last few times I ate at Chipotle the guac has been thinner with no chunks and a brownish green color. Then I heard about the price issues with avocados and figured they must be thinning it out some to keep the price down. I did report this change in consistency.

Pua, that's exactly why I like the kids chips. Last month, I ate the entire bag of full sized chips on the drive home.
