Where Are You Shopping Today?

Ah. Dental. Been there. Done that. This afternoon. Was supposed to receive a merch kit today by end of business and schlep it a few hours away from home.. End of whose business, btw?! grinning smiley I was clever and did not schedule shops because I did not know exactly when I would leave home and when I would arrive anywhere. I do not mind explaining away the lateness of my arrival.'I traveled all the way from [my town!] and the highway was [whatever sounds right!] and my materials arrived later than expected and puppy dog eyes and the head tipped exactly so many degrees on the angle and... ' wala! they will let me work this thing on the last night of the project. I mind that I will have to grab a nap at the least bad rest area on the way home because I will need this bit of sleep before the early job tomorrow.

@JASFLALMT: Am chuckling at the difference between our worlds... I could work at so many places in one day only if I worked in five cities in one day!

Voila, I was able to do it all in about 5.5 hours including drive time, even with the traffic jam on the interstate on the way home. And the round trip drive from my house was about 40 miles smiling smiley
Suh-weet! smiling smiley

(rt for me would be more than 200 miles and, depending upon the day, more than 300)

Wow, JAS, good luck at the dentist!

My original appointment was for a filling replacement and I nade the appointment over a month ago (this was the first available). Coincidentally, Friday it started getting infected and by Sunday morning my left side of the face was so swollen I had to go to the emergency room. I've been on antibiotics and ibuprofen, but it's still very swollen. Chances are they won't be able to start the reco work and I will have to wait another month, which is frustrating.
That sucks! :-( Sometimes, it is acceptable to use a cold cloth or cold pack on your face. These were given to me after significant dental work. I mention this because if nothing else, they could cool the area and provide some relief...

JAS, hope your dental issues get resolved sooner than later!!

Today I have one bonused grocery shop and one revealed HP Ink audit.
No, they didn't give those to me, but I have been using ziplocks filled with ice cubes and wrapped in a damp cloth way before any dentist told me it was a good idea (retired massage therapist knows about reducing inflammation and swelling). I started that Friday night when it first started getting infected. But thank you.

So, I need a root canal on one tooth. My dentist doesn't do those so she gave me a referral. They did numb the area and replaced a filling on the adjacent tooth, at least. They gave me prescriptions for Motrin and Tylenol, and I have a few Vicodin left from the trip to the emergency room. I have to call another place about the root canal, but they advised I wait until I finish the round of penicillin I was given at the emergency room and the infection and swelling have subsided.

Meanwhile, the grocery store shop I had to do was two blocks away from my dentist and I had them call my prescription in for me, so I sucked it up and did the shop. It originally was scheduled for tomorrow, but I quickly changed the date on my phone and went. I looked like a freak with half my face swelled up like a papaya, but meh, who cares this early in the day, LOL.

Oh, funny thing about today's shop: they had ribeye steaks on sale for $8.99 lb. I went to the cooler endcap and saw 5 packs of beautiful ribeyes that were marked "manager's special" at 1/2 price, $4.50 lb. I looked at them and saw nothing wrong with them, so they went into my cart. As I walked away, a pretty young blonde walked over to that endcap and had a puzzled look on her face as she lifted and examined each package, then put them back. I watched her walk over to the meat counter and say to the young man behind the counter, "I didn't see them anywhere." The meat guy said, "Honey, I just put them out a few minutes ago, are you sure?" He was walking around from behind the counter as I left the area, LOL. This MSC has no place on the form to note any unusual circumstances, it's all "yes" and "no" with no narrative anywhere on the report...oh well.

Well, if nothing else, no one would have suspected you as the mystery shopper!!!
Oh, it gets worse. My regular dentist on Tuesday had done x-rays and said my tooth could be saved but I needed a root canal, which they don't do. I was able to get an appointment with an Akron dental group for today and was there this afternoon. The place was dirty, to begin with, and they didn't get me in until 30 minutes over my appointment time. While I was waiting in the waiting room, a woman was sitting near me and said she had an infected tooth. I said that's what I had, and she said, "They will want to pull it." I told her my dentist had referred me for a root canal, and she said, "Doesn't matter. They pull teeth here and try to sell you expensive dental work, and that's what they will tell you, will see." So I get back there, they do their own x-rays, and the dentist, Dr. Jimmy, seemed pleasant enough. But sure enough, he examined the tooth and told me that the tooth was fractured. He said I needed to have the tooth pulled and that I could opt for an implant or a bridge (about $2k-$3k). As I was looking up, I noticed the black dust and dirt on the ceiling and the open room full of patient chairs with the sounds of drills, no partitions, no separate rooms. Anyway, the hygienist wrote me a quote for the expensive dental work options and I got out of there ASAP. Within 10 minutes, I got a phone call but I was driving and didn't answer it. The voice message was from Dr. Jimmy saying that I needed to have that tooth pulled ASAP and wondering why I left. A few minutes ago someone from his clinic called again and left another message. Apparently, they were going to go ahead and pull that tooth today. I thought it was really weird that he numbed the gums and tooth before doing the exam, right? Then, I was feeling around with my tongue and there is a big hole in my tooth, the one that he said was fractured! He pulled out the filling and didn't put a temporary filling back in, because he had planned to pull the tooth (I never agreed to that) and I left too quickly. So now I have a hole in my tooth, which is already infected, and I have an appointment with my regular dentist on Saturday (already had made it to replace some other fillings), but meanwhile I am in a bad place...sorry to vent. I am trying to get an appointment with another dentist to get this root canal done but not sure when that's going to happen.

Edited because that was yesterday, not Monday. How time flies when you are in pain!

JAS, dang, that was a bad dentist! I am so glad you had the presence of mind to leave.

Yesterday was an insomnia WaWa. Later I did two compliance shops. One of them was an age compliance verification and I didn't realize it until I got home and did the work.

Today is an Onsite inspection and WaWa.

My stars, JAS, that's just awful! That dental practice should be reported for doing unapproved work!! Hope things will work out for you, and very soon, too!
I managed to get into my regular dental group today with a different dentist who cleaned up the tooth and replaced the filling that had been removed by the quack. When I first met her this morning and gave her some background on what was going on, she said that it was possible Dr. Kristie (my regular dentist) had missed the fracture and that they often don't show up on x-rays. But, after she was done examining the tooth and prepping it for the new filling, she made the comment, "Yes, do get a second opinion. To me it looks like a root canal and possibly a crown might be fine, but I don't believe you need that tooth pulled." So I feel pretty good, the filling has been replaced with composite, the swelling from last weekend is nearly gone, I have an appointment with a reputable clinic that does root canals on 8/19...who knows, maybe by then I won't even need that?

I felt so much better that I went and did a CVS audit about a block away from the dental clinic! Now I am home sipping tea and feeling much more relaxed about the whole thing. Thank you for your sympathy and support, everyone!
Today is an onsite inspection, two WaWas and a hardware store.

It's nice weather today. My mouth feels pretty good. I am going to do an audit this afternoon since I have to pick up a prescription anyway.
JAS, I'm glad you are feeling better!

JAS, Glad you're up and about!

Only one simple FA job while I was right in the store. Too hot to do anything else!!
Moved merch to next week. It has a generous time frame, and a day next week is better. It also fills up a work day, leaving me free. Free! Freeeeeeeeee!
