Five Guys listens to us. They raised their reimbursement.

I did a shop on Friday for a $12 bonus. I got a Little Cheeseburger. The burger, fries and a drink came close to $15.

For me, FG usually passes the post-fast food crash taste. I don't have the energy crash or that "gross feeling" afterwards. But, I also only take a few sips of the soda and throw it all away and I eat only about 5-10 fries and take the rest home for a separate meal. I ONLY eat the burger primarily.

I feel way better than when I do my Sonic shops or eat other fast food. Of course, I feel even better after a Chipotle veggie bowl! I have super-hero energy after those. smiling smiley

re: calories Not all calories are the same. Something with lots of calories could actually be healthy. I'm not saying FG is particularly healthy (I think it is relative to other fast food), but it does seem healthier than other ff, Tarantado. I usually load my burgers up with all the veggies. But, I also change it up occasionally, because I don't want to get spotted as a shopper. My veggie heavy burgers might stand out.

Does anyone get the post-ff crash with FG?

Your overall caloric intake is still very important to your health... point black. For example, eating 5 avocados isn't so healthy, as much as I like avocados. Much like eating 1/2 pound of almonds isn't so healthy either.

Very infrequently shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado these days.
@jay225

the buns also contain the dreaded soy. anyway, the location near me hasn't raised the prices again yet. little hamburger bowl costs me 10.78 yesterday. first time getting the bowl, as i usually opt for the lettuce wrap. think i'll get the bowl for now on, as i like how they put the condiments on the side as well as giving you a separate bag for the fries.[/quote

I have been doing these shops for a few years now. I have always come just under the reimbursement. The last shop I did was about a month ago and the small cheese burger, small fries and medium soft drink cost about a $1.00 over the reimbursement. I am not sure if I will do to many more shops.

Many people are sensitive to soy, and may not know it. It's not as healthy as people think it is. My vet told us to avoid dog food containing soy. It can cause skin problems, as it did in one of my dogs. We went round and round with his terrible skin allergies until the vet asked what we were feeding him and said to try a food without soy. His skin and his digestive problems cleared up. I never buy dog food with soy in it anymore. One of my friends was drinking soy milk as a "healthy" alternative to dairy, and had problems with it. Not everybody does, of course, but it's known to be a food that people are allergic or sensitive to.

Me too and when the report asked why I spent over 15 I said they raised their prices again.
The hot dog cost more than the grill cheese where I live. The cheapest thing is the veggie burger at $5.05
$12.26 here for little burger, little fries, small drink, and tax. But I usually order regular fries so I can take some home. The MSC really needs to either up the reimbursement or the fee, because if people have big appetites, probably no way they can come in under reimbursement.

Health-wise, if you get a little burger in a bowl instead of a bun, you eliminate 240 calories right off the bat. I love getting that with lettuce; tomato; grilled mushrooms, onions, and green peppers; and sides of mayo (used lightly) and A-1 sauce. Without the bun, you can really taste the other stuff. Of course, it's still not health food, but better than what you can get at many other FF places. Calorie wise, the burger in a bowl is only about 100 calories more than the veggie sandwich. To echo someone else, their dogs are very tasty.

I can understand if someone is shopping and trying to keep costs down, but why is a veggie burger at $5.05 even on the menu? I would think most people would opt for a subway veggie sandwich. More filling, less expensive.

proudly shopping in the D.

Good points. I should watch my diet more.

Also, does anyone see customers ordering hot dogs at FGs? I don't think I've seen a single customer order one. They always go with cheeseburgers.
I love doing 5 Guys, and thanks to the advice on this forum when the scheduler from far away asks if I can help them for $6 or $8 I say I'm sorry. Can't do it for less than $12.00. Reimbursement here is $12.50 and I get a cheeseburger, little fries and regular drink for $13.03. I love their food enough that spending $0.53 out of pocket is fine with me. If you have to buy a milkshake, I think the reimbursement is $18.00.
I did a Five Guys shop last week and got the hot dog. I loved it. Ketchup, mustard, onions, pickles. With little fries and drink, it came to $10.88. My husband likes to order the hot dog more times than the burger when we go together.
Wow. My last visit: hot dog 5.39, little fries 3.59 and regular soft drink 2.49. Total before taxes 11.47
I can get the little hamburger, little fries and a large soda and still stay under $12.50 where I live but it used to be under $12 several months ago so here the prices went up but just not over the reimbursement yet...
I needed a change and tried the BLT. What a joke. Tomatoes were hard, not ripe, two small pieces and one was the end piece. Barely any lettuce and pieces, so they kept falling out of the bun. Lots of crunchy bacon pieces. It was basically bacon pieces in a hamburger roll. Terrible.

Soy has phytoestrogens in them. As with beer, a pretty lousy thing for a guy to have. I haven’t put my masters to use in a while, but part of me wonders if the effect of that in women would be akin to what happens to a guy doing steroids after some time. Either way, the Chinese have left a shipment of soy at sea that the US tried to dropped on them. I loled.

That doesn't make them any 'healthier.' I measured out the weight on the 'little fries' I had on my last shop (yes, I count my calories), and discovered that the extra scoop of fries brings the total calories of the little fries up to around 600-700 calories ALONE depending on the scoops we're provided. Add to that, a plain burger with a single patty and a bun is already 450 calories by itself. Even drinking just a tea, water or other 0 calorie beverages (which isn't good for you as well aka aspertame), the meal is extremely excessive with again, an abysmal amount of protein for a 1,000+ calorie plus meal.

Hence, why the best way to eat at Five Guys is to go bunless and literally eat a 10th of the little fries with just an iced tea or water.

Calories alone aren’t bad. I used to eat “healthy” and I still carried a bit of a gut on top of a buried set of abs. Ditch the fries and the bun and keto your way through these shops. Heck, my mom was all about fruits and veggies and she was no model of health.

You probably carried a gut because you ate in a caloric surplus, meaning you took in more calories than you burned daily.

The 5 guys in NH are $10,.55 for little burger little fries and drink. I was offered $6.00 for a shop 50 miles away. I see them on the webiste for $18 and would get calls for $24
I pick up these shops when I travel. There have been a few times when I order the smallest of everything and pay $3-$4 more than in my home market and lose money.
Even the milkshake is over $5 in my area. I had a shop recently where a milkshake was required and ended up costing $5.29 after taxes. I really dislike losing money on required purchases.

"We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl -- year after year..."
That’s cute. They just yell “one dog” here. With a hot dog, little fries and regular drink the total is $12.38. A milkshake after tax is $5.43. And a little burger, little fries and regular drink is $13.79. If I do a tourist trap location it’s $14.23. That $0.25 does not help anyone.

The MSC called me and asked if I could do a shop the same day for the standard fee, $5. I said no. He eventually got up to $15! (Btw is it just me or is it impossible to get them off the phone??)

So I accepted. I ordered the cheapest possible, a veggie sandwich, and the order still came out to $13.50. From now I’m only doing these if they’re bonused. I barely eat this food so I’m not missing anything. When I do the delivery shop, I throw the fries away.
In my area they increased the purchase price by 75 cents. I emailed the MSC and they increased the reimbursement by 25 cents. I am not going to do the shop until they increase the reimbursement based on the principal that they used to cover it and now they don't. And they never offer a bonus more than $7. And eating just half of the meal is about 800 calories so I feel a little guilty every time I accept a shop. Gotta watch my weight if I do too many FF shops.
