You will need to call in advance to find out if they are open. If you find out without going there that it is closed, you will get a much-reduced fee, but you won't have to leave your house. If you HAD to go there to find out that it was closed, you get a reduced fee also, but I didn't remember the calculation for that scenario.

I got a call yesterday from a scheduler asking me to do a shop for $15. I told her that I had never gone to that location for less $16 and since food prices have gone up, to offer me less money is insulting and that I wanted at least $18. I expected a counter at $16, but she told me $15 is the current maximum. I declined. I have been offered (and I accepted) as much as $35 to go there in the past. $22 had become the norm to go there. I am not going to accept $15 because the next time they would use that price against me. I am not going to bid against myself!

I am truly shocked that this many people shop/eat at Five Guys! I've never eaten there.
To each his own, everyone has their system and needs and wants. But I find that this week the FG shops - are lightly bounced, HALF of what they normally would be. Speaking just for myself - no way. I was tempted to take one but if I do I feel why would they ever raise the fee then? I'll hope for a flake....or, just wait till another time. If someone 's gonna lower my pay.....it's not gonna be me.
I haven't seen any discussion on the 5G delivery shops. They are much underfunded.
Why are you shocked? there are 1700 Five Guys restaurants. That puts them in the top 50 by number of stores. There are many in the top 50 that I have never visited, largely because there are none anywhere near me, but I am not shocked when people say they shop and visit Jack in the Box (for instance). Same for In and Out Burger.

Actually they raised the reimbursement recently, and they're not too bad, at least for me. Ordering from the FG pp or website will be cheaper than a third party. However, if you order from a third party like Uber Eats or DoorDash, you can use one of their coupons, which i get frequently. The price is definitely not a good deal at only $5, and it only goes up mid-month, and they never call to offer more or put it on Make an Offer. But it's a very easy shop.

The weekend shops went to MAO at $15. I put in for my usual $25. Got a counteroffer of $20. I'm not going to accept it. I can play the game if they want.
I'm just surprised. I've never eaten at one and there's 8 within 30 miles of my house LOL. Just never appealed to me, but then again I haven't eaten at McD's in over 20 yrs.
Two of the three shops in my area are still available, including the one they rejected my $25 offer on. It's now up to $20, but I can't submit anything higher than $22. Have not gotten a call this weekend after being called the last two weekends when I was away and unable to shop.

Just posted and it got moderated for some reason. So I will repost a short version saying that the scheduler called me and offered the same $25 I had been rejected for, so I took the local FG shop.

Honestly, it wasn't even worth it to me to do the closed/reduced fee scenario. I knew I could, but I wasn't up for it. I was tired and very busy with my other paying work.

So a shop at a hard-to-fill location that's a fairly long drive from me was on the board for today only at $30 with MAO. I've gotten $40 there in the past so that's what I asked for. I got the infamous and seldom-seen "counter offer." In this case, $35.
OK, I'll play. I dropped my ask to $37. "Counter offer": $35.
At this point I kind of felt like they were rubbing my nose in it, so I let it go.
They didn't get the location shopped (it's still on the board), but by god they saved $2.

As of late they are not making it to MAO here. I only did one in August and that was one a remote one that someone flaked on. It came back on the board at $30 with no MAO, so I grabbed it.

This weekend's shops are $15 and on MAO, but I am hesitant to make an offer for my usual amount because it was rejected last week and I had to wait for the scheduler to call me. Will probably wait until the shops are up to $20.

They have fewer shoppers in my area, obviously. Or at least those willing to do it for the posted price. One location that they always have trouble filling has both shops available. Hoping the dinner shop stays available as it has, since I will be nearby for a dinner shop next Wednesday and would take the 5G if I can do it on the same trip. Another one that is closer to me has an online order dinner shop available. I might consider that if I can get my price, get the burger for my wife and pick up Chipotle for me nearby. The dinner shop I wanted to do on Wednesday was still available and up to $25. I put in an offer for $30 and it got accepted. That's what I had gotten in the past. Had to wait to request it because it was only available up to Tuesday before today (although I'm sure I could have rescheduled it).
The flakes in SoCal haven't been so flakey the last month. I need more flakiness. It's been more than 1 month since I've done one and I am not doing them for less than $20.
Also, a location in my search radius actually closed a couple months ago, so that limits my availability to about 6 locations that are reasonable distance/effort.

Got an offer for one for $36 that i couldn't do. When I clicked on the link, it was $35. Weird.
MSC (fully within their rights to budget how they please) is banking on - -- eventually the shoppers will just accept the lower fees. They'll get used to it and just accept it. They might be right. Speaking solely for myself -it's not my thing. Not looking for more. But significantly less than so many previous shops - and many times no reasonable counter-offers is why I haven't done the MAO shops. Focusing on 2 other companies and while storage stuff is a bit boring, so be it. Could have easily completed 3 MAO shops this week but I didn't bother. In the end -if our pay gets cut oh well- - I just don't want to be one of those who helped cut our pay. Had chicken breast at home yesterday - not as yummy but certainly healthier than the Five Guys yummy burger. Silver Linings lol.
