Snarky Schedulers and Editors

Is anyone else finding schedulers and editors are just getting snarky? I simply asked about payment for a job done 6 weeks ago and got what I interpreted to be a snarky response telling me to read the FAQs, which I had and there was no mention of payment in there.

Editors are getting the same way. I get told I am being too picky at a gas station job then the next time at the same location I get dinged for not noting the same problem I noted last time. I am starting to really be picky about the jobs I do. There just seem to be some jobs no matter what you do you don't do it well enough. I figure why bother let someone else do it and spend 2 days answering their questions or reading their negative comments. The yellow and red gas stations are the worse. No matter how careful you are and how much time you take to look at everything they will always find something to complain about. So unless they are offering a good amount of money I let someone else do them.

I would say overall no issues but there is one that I know I am going to get something nasty every time I need something or have a question but I end up getting paid and doing the work. I still find it hilarious to ask ipsos for bonuses and what responses you get. This one is not really the schedulers fault though.

I find that dealing with the snarkiness is just part of the job. I feel like I'm probably both loved and hated by schedulers and managers. I'm hated because I won't do jobs at base pay and I expect to be paid a living wage. They hate shoppers that expect to be paid a living wage. However, they love me because I will go anywhere, anytime, if the money is right. I'm extremely dependable, and I will get things done right up against the deadline if I feel like the pay is worth it. Of course, they hate paying me that. They hate the fact that I expect to get paid fairly for what I do. That's where the snarkiness comes from. They expect us to work for less than a with living wage, and when we ask for a living wage, they feel like we are being unreasonable. The snarkiness is the natural product of that attitude.

I had a scheduler go mental because I had the audacity to ask for a bonus on a $0 fee shop.

I had a job kicked back to me for "not following instructions," but I followed what was on the guidelines. When I asked the editor for clarification, I just got a "do what I said" reply, with no clarification on what I was supposed to do--which still wasn't clear. I muddled through it, and it was accepted. But I could just as easily have done the re-do wrong and had the report rejected.

You try to do a job right and try to be pro-active in making sure the instructions are clear, but sometimes it's not appreciated.

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.

I go up the MSP’s ladder… and I let the scheduler or editor know what I’m doing. (In other words, none of that passive-aggressive BCC stuff.)

Between Linkedin, Google (for email addresses) and Twitter, you can figure out how to reach any MSP manager or owner these days. A simple forwarding of the offensive email up the corporate food chain, together with the message “Do you want <this person> representing your company in this manner? Is this behavior in the best interest of your clients?” has gotten me positive results every time.

Used sparingly, and for good cause, this has worked 100% for me.

I hate when they hold up a report by asking questions about things that were already in the report.

I feel the same. I often wonder if they ever see or read the comments. I will usually explain stuff in the comments only to get an email asking why I didn't do something.

I hate it not only when they ask me about things already in the report but also when they decrease my score because they "have to" contact me about things that were already in my report.

I had a rather rude response the other week when I asked a question. I was told to go read the guidelines and report form. Turns out, it was supposed to have been updated but missing lots and lots. A day later, a mass email went out concerning that job. SMH. I was polite and professional.

I had a rural route planned and wrote a scheduler offering to do an add-on shop in the town of Sixtymilesfromanywhereelse for a modest bonus. Her response, "No. You're going to be there anyway." OH REALLY? There were so many things I wanted to say about that but just let it go.

Same scheduler, I applied for a shop on the website and put in the (mandatory) note box the specific date I needed. I get scheduled for a different day. I write in asking to be removed from the shop, adding that I had included the date I was available in the note box. Her response, "Nobody reads those notes."

Nice.

Those are the jobs you laugh at because no one will take them and since they were rude you won't either. I have gotten to where i tell them when they are begging me to take a job. I feel great saying you know i would but i was treated so poorly the last time that i devote myself to companies that actually appreciate me and my hard work.

I never tell a scheduler that I'm going to be somewhere anyway if I am asking for an appropriate bonus for the distance. Of course, sometimes, a scheduler will already know I'm going to be in a certain area that if they scheduled those shops as well. However, there's no need for them to know if I'm going to be in an area or not.

Me either but my other shops were with the same MSC and this scheduler actually looked somewhere to see that I was going that way. AFAIK, I can have any reason or none at all when asking for a bonus, right?

That kind of snippy attitude gets the response “Never mind. I found something else to fill my time in Sixtymilesfromanywhereelse. Have a blessed day.” from me.
