What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Early job is early. Yay! This means that typical work is on time and extra work and still ore extra work will be only moderately late. Hmmmm....

So hiatus officially begins today. In a perfect world, I would be making pierogi and other goodies today. But this is my world and there are other things to do first. One of them is to wait and see how high bonuses will go for local shops. 'Will they go higher, will someone take them low, ... que sera, sera!' Or something like that. grinning smiley

Standing Friday morning meeting, then apartment shop in a part of town I'm not too familiar with. Last time I relied on Google maps it steered me wrong. Hope it behaves better today.

I'm not leaving the house. Yesterday we got inches of rain, streets flooded and now they're calling for thunderstorms, hail, 70 mph wind etc. I just heard my recycling bin fly off the back stairs, hopefully when the rain stops enough to go get it, it's not floating down the street or in the bay.

Hope everyone working in this mess is safe.

It's the first day of class after first semester grades were finalized.... It's the day where I have countless conversations with parents and students who tearfully believe that their grades should be raised by anywhere from 1% to 5%. So far today:

"We had four exams this semester: A, A, D, C. Yes, after a curve, you scored an A on the final. The B in the course stands."
"Yes, you have an 88%. However, I cannot justify raising the grade of a student who had 41 absences and tardies (mostly unexcused) this semester."
"Your daughter is a wonderful young lady and, considering that she got a "D" in the prerequisite course, even being at a C+ is most impressive. However, she scored a middle "C" on the final, which was below the average score school wide, putting her final grade solidly at 78%. I cannot justify a "B."

Ugh....

Added for a groan: The student with 41 absences and tardies first semester who wanted his grade raised is... absent today. #@?!

Lots of nasty ice and snow on top of it today. So I am ignoring my emails and watching the wife's email while she sleeps. She trades in the stock market so I have to alert her if she gets any emails from Shwab.
I'm laughing at all the folks here in TN that can't handle a half inch of snow. Sounding like the kids won't see school again until June.
You want to come to my house next? lol

I volunteered at the food bank this morning. This month was my church's turn to sponsor breakfast. I had to be there by 6am!

I bought plywood inserts for the dresser that's becoming a media stand and painted the interior. Hoped that I could get by with one coat of 'paint plus primer', but it's going to need a second coat.

wales, it really was! Knowing that we were there to help the less fortunate played a large role.

I was invited to a fancy fundraiser by a Jewish Org. I belong to...having it March 5th at the Hilton in Beverly Hills, went to buy new dressy top to wear with my good black suit. Quick lunch at Whole Foods, great one close to me and back on computer. Doing a job for a Focus group on the 15th, worked for them years ago, glad they kept my name, pays well.

Live consciously....
Folding a ton of laundry; reports; kitchen and fridge clean-up; freezing some meals for the future; having a power nap to make up for a poor night last night.

Went to my hubby's cousin's daughter's birthday party (I know, lots of apostrophes, LOL). I managed to do 2 convenience stores on the way, had hubby drive so I could finish the reports on the app while he drove us to the party.
The usual; work at 2 AM followed by extra work and more extra work until mid-morning. Then, there were errands and projects. It was enough.

Cleaning and reorganizing the entryway. I always have an image of it becoming one of those cute and functional HGTV style mudrooms. Never happens.
I feel the same about my kitchen.

My entry way is a two by two bit of nothing. Simplicity itself!

Mind you, I could steal space from the small adjacent living room, but that would just be... wrong.

My church had a Black History Month celebration after service. It was very well done! There was a lot of food and I ate with my eyes. Afterwards, a friend stopped by and brought her dog over. I planned on making us brunch, but I forgot because I wasn't hungry. Luckily, she was making lasagna when she got home.

For brunch, I was going to make corned beef hash with fried eggs.

We had our condo inspected, and it got a clean bill of health, but some of the tile grout fell out in the shower yesterday. I'm using that as my reason to do a handyman shop. If the price is at all reasonable the person will get the job...it would take Hubby weeks to get to it, and I'm not a fan of showering in a bath tub.

My best friend from high school just lost her mom about an hour ago. I wish I could go to be with her now, so sad.
Aw JAS, I'm so sorry!

Yesterday, I put together the piece of IKEA furniture (a desk) I did not have time to deal with Saturday (due to my stupidity, leading to a 2nd trip to IKEA and costing me over three hours) and reorganized our home office. Thereafter, My wife and I watched "Ford vs. Ferrari" - great movie. smiling smiley

Today, I'll spend most of the day torturing teenagers with methods of integration and trigonometric graphing.
