What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Finally, my doctor's office is open and taking routine exams and follow-up visits. Today I will have the annual check-up that they had to cancel in early March. Then a quick visit to the grocery store and home for some kitchen clean-up and a load of laundry.

We want to purchase a screen door for the deck. For many reasons, we will pay to have it installed. Home Depot has changed their procedures since the last time I've dealt with this project. Today an estimator came and took measurements. When his information is in the system I can go and purchase the door.

Other than that, a produce run and some other mindless errands.

Work. Nap. The back is better, so it's -erm- back to the hubby's project.

A scattered day. Abandoned weeding, now mop and bucket are in the way. Need to mow lawn if grass dries.
Need to finish floors and weeding.
Plan meal for guest tomorrow. First guest in months!!!

Aldi's has a muffaletta salad that I have been craving, but I'm pretty sure it's a seasonal item. Since I finally unpacked my food processor, that will be the first thing I make.

what is a muffaletta salad. Never heard of it but I like to try new foods. I will be near Aldi tomorrow so I might be interested.
Work. Nap. More of project.

Among other things, drafting a proposed 1 year extension and amendment of the house-sharing agreement with the lady who occupies the basement apartment. She has been here just one year and the water and electricity bills have really jumped. So, even though her rent is not changed, I have to get more for utilities. The rates have not changed since the last 2 folks occupied that space, and there was no hiatus when it was vacant, so it is what it is. I am asking that she pay half of the difference which seems fair becasue the other housemate and I have not changed our use patterns, which have pretty much held power and water use flat for over 10 years, (Rates went up early in that period, but usage has not moved as much as 5% over the period until this housemate arrived.)

Trip to Costco, and then church for a quick (less than two minutes) volunteer activity. They've having weekly concerts on Friday nights, and have bright blue social distancing circles painted on the parking lot.

Muffaletta is to New Orleans what a cheesesteak is to Philadelphia. The salad is an olive based spread that goes on the sandwich.

Early this week, I put spinach, basil, mint and green onion seeds in 4-inch containers and put them in the sunny kitchen windowsill. I covered them with plastic to retain the daily moisture. I went to water them this morning, and they were sprouting.

Clearing a path so that the heavy duty Geek Squad that will deliver and install the new dryer has a clear path. In the front door, through the hallway, down the basement stairs, sharp right turn and into the basement apartment and into the open slot in the laundry room where it needs to have its new vent, plinth and cord installed before it is lifted into place. Whew!

Having done that, waiting for a phone call that is supposed to give one hour notice for delivery, supposedly between noon and 6 PM. After delivery, cleaning the floors where it traveled and then re-laying the area rugs and non-skid pads along that route, re-installing the shoe rack in the front hall, etc.

I think maybe I should spend some time trying a new recipe for supper, while I am between dryer-related activities! Maybe a Tex-Mex sort of shrimp casserole ?

I have an appointment with the Census Bureau to complete my Enumerator training at 2 pm. (I am more of a morning person, but that was the time slot I was given.) I want to make sure I get there on time, so I keep Googling the traffic to see how long it will take. The office is in a Federal office complex in an industrial part of town, with not much to do around there to kill time if I arrive early.

Getting together my mango bags to drop off at neighbors. My big mango tree is more than a month ahead of its usual ripening schedule and they are all coming ripe at pretty much the same time, so it is time to flood neighbors and friends with mangos. Still plenty to make a mango crisp for dinner, freeze some and make mango jam.
The new dryer is installed atop its plinth and looking just plain gorgeous. The Geek Squad was two pleasant, strong, very efficient and talented fellows. They emailed ahead to say that ETA would be 1:15 and that is when the doorbell rang!

I have steamed the shrimp for the Mexican style shrimp casserole and waiting for them to cool enough for me to shell and chop them. Other ingredients include corn, enchilada sauce, chopped jalepenos, corn tortillas and lots of cheese.

Today is housework and grocery shopping at Aldi's.

I accidentally threw my debit card away a few months ago. I have to use Samsung Pay in stores. I ran into a banker at the nail salon and asked her if I could get the card replaced with the same number. She said to wait it out since all cards are being replaced due to a bank merger.

Work. The last two tasks for this phase of the hubby's project. (Huzzah!) New-to-me workout.

My trip to Aldi's proved that muffaletta is seasonal, so I will have to make it from scratch.

My interesting Aldi's finds:

Melting Romano cheese crackers
Everything Bagel seasoning
Chipotle salmon burgers

Work a few hours at the regular job, cook about 10 pounds of ground venison and freeze ( have many friends who hunt and share the meat), give the chickens some frozen corn on the cob they love on hot days, watch the birds in the back yard. The back yard is 2/3 acre, there are doves, cardinals, robins, blue jays, and many others I don't have a clue. I'm fairly close to San Antonio so I am backing off anything else for awhile due to COVID spiking again.
I didn't have time to stop at Aldi for the supplysiesanyway . What season is it going to be available
I shouldn't say "seasonal." It's a Weekly Special item.

Among other things, prepping for tomorrow when I will do my first 2 MS shops since March 12. A cabinet store and a convenience store/gas station. Making this week's grocery lists. Trying to figure out what recipe(s) to try out next.

Today was a hike with my friend and her dogs. After, I stopped by the grocery store to give them my schedule of days that I can work. I cleaned up the kitchen and did some laundry.

I made a purchase from Amazon. I wanted to have it delivered to the Amazon locker at work, but it was decommissioned. I had it delivered to a nearby locker instead. This will be my first locker pickup, so I am excited to see how it works.

Quick run to the doc for my SO's first post-op visit. Planned to stop by Aldi's on the way home but they don't open until 9. Stopped by Sam's for cheap(er) gas and picked up a few things. 10AM now and it is oppressively hot. Headed in for a nap because I was up much too early. Then I'll deal with the rest of the day.
Work (early! yay!!!!!). Zillions (well, maybe only dozens) of teeny tasks. After all this time, it feels like zillions. Make schedule for thyroid events and add to collection of stuff to donate during upcoming assignments.

Going with hubby to Target later on, so he can pick up a new Consumer Cellular flip phone. The one he's had for the past 5+ years now has something loose inside the connection port where the phone charges. It's real finicky and you have to get the micro USB cord in there just so, and then tape the cord down so it doesn't move! Nah....time for a new phone. He loves his flip phone and it works for him, so we'll go with another one of those!
