What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Searched through the kitchen and rounded up excess flatware, crockery, an extra slow cooker, a rice cooker, and some non-perishable food items to donate. Packed same into several smallish boxes so that I and a fellow "little old lady" can easily load them into her car on Tuesday evening. She will take them to donate at a nearby place that serves mostly people who have lost stuff in fires or explosions, or who are newly arrived refugees. Tomorrow I will round up some excess clothing and bed linens to add to that donation. I also have some furniture that I need to arrange to have them send a truck and 2 strong helpers to disassemble and move out of the house. Then, I will start seriously re-imagining how to arrange my bedroom and dining room and what new items would be most useful.

I am delighted to add this less grim and downright cheerful post near the end of my day. Pain is much less! I got sleep, did my soothing affirmations for me in general and feet/legs specifically, and am stretching my back. This feels so good! All is well and quiet here. Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh....... smiling smiley

Its was a stay inside day. Raining, well actually pouring with cold hard winds. Good day to catch up on paperwork. Now I"ve got a tri-tip marinated in garlic, worcestershire sauce and bourbon cooking in the oven. Will serve with french onion soup and cesar salad.
Zek,
I will be right over! Set another place, please!

Clutching my hot, hot tea and pressing it against my chest. Feels fabulous! Unfortunately, I cannot do that all day. I must move along to more dry laundry (the items that do go in the dryer). Then, there should be more tea, more clutching, and more pressing.

I had some time between shops today. I went to my favorite international market.

The major thrust of restoring the living room. Mind you, I have been living here. Sounds appropriate. But enough is enough, and it is time to winnow down to the basics: tea caddy, one book (not dozens), and relocating huge fluffy unicorns. What. And yes, there is time for one more tea/clutch/press.

I think I was in every grade today. And they forgot I might need a break, at least to pee!

Las Tuesday's meeting to hand off paperwork that got pushed back will happen today. We live on opposite sides of the state, so each of our drives will be approximately 2 hours each way (with lunch in between).

It's that time of year! The movie, A Christmas Story, is running now on many stations, and if anyone has a streaming service like Roku or similar, you can find it on dozens of free channels right now. So maybe some of the kids saw the movie recently and wanted to see what would happen if they did it! Kids still DO the darndest things, as Art Linkletter use to say!
Art Linkletter was wonderful! So were the kids who had no filters and were pure gold.

My work from home lunch was a frozen rosemary chicken and potatoes dish from Aldi. It was delicious. My dinner was a homemade rosemary chicken and potatoes. Instead of broccoli I used red peppers. I will have the same for lunch tomorrow.

Wouldn't the scene from the movie make them not want to do it. Ouch!

No way! They are compelled to try it, to defy the odds, and to "win" if they succeed.

Need info and lessons. This floppy doppy chunk of hair needs to be incorporated somehow into the more-or-less hairstyle. Youtube? Sally? Here I come!

Since Hubby and I effectively spent the first ten days of the month dealing with Covid we're scrambling to get everything Christmas done. After cooking today's staff lunch, today is a trip to Target and maybe another store.

Technically, it is five minutes until a new day. But I know a lot about my Thursday.

1) no need to trim hair. use a scuunchi between "good"/curled days. easy peasy.
2) hubby is doing a fabulous job of insulating my usual area. these apartments have gorgeous amounts of windows, which are the bomb in the few warmer months. they let in wonderful light and splash that everywhere. they also let in views of a heathy landscape. this involves single-pane glass that bounces wintry cold around the entire apartment. brrrrrr! hubby will make all my spaces warm, including those designated for my new recliner that is for legs/feet and their new, deep soaker-massager-muscle-relaxing-skin-stimulating-multi-tasking thingy. soon, all will be warm. i mean well. or both! smiling smiley
3) we are determined to get me back to work. that requires more healing and the ability to wear shoes again. i believe that G has more lessons for me to learn from this prolonged situation. i hope there are only a few more lessons. one lesson from early on is never get ahead of G or otherwise go astray. so here i sit, hoping that the change i want is the next one that will happen and knowing that i do not control that. so difficult and vexatious for a control freak whose Inner Perfectionist will not necessarily prevail. and that is another of my lessons. something beautiful is the confirmation of it: i poured out my heart to my sis and she encouraged me to think about and live in partnership with hubby. just now, letting him work with my spaces lets him use his smarts, share of some useful belongings, and be praised many times for how smart and helpful he is.

that was a lot and we need a transition.

Please have a fabulous day. No one deserves a fabulous day more than members of this forum. ! smiling smiley

I was communicating with a fellow member of an organization I belong to, who was saying he would record our next business meeting AFTER HE GOT PERMISSION. I was able to tell him (without revealing why I knew) that we live in a one-party state and he doesn't need permission.

I can't figure out why, but I feel like quite the Grinch today. Would prefer to go back to bed and hibernate, but gatherings await.

A good day. Even started the day with Yoga.

My week is just about over. On a treadmill and will continue doing so. I am loving it however. Ugly Christmas Sweater Party on for tomorrow. Everyone so excited. Tonight I will make 2-3 lbs. of baked ziti. Ordered a 6 ft. hero as I am always afraid there will be not enough food. Will make my salad tomorrow and hope that everyone brings a delicious pot luck dish. #'s 1 & 2 picked up my Mom after cleaning and doing her wash. Mom finishing up our gift bags of handcrafted ornaments as I write. They are beautiful. Yesterday, our work break was trivia. I won 2nd place and a $25 Starbuck's GC. Who shall get it in their stocking?
At the end of the day, I get classical music, an extra back stretch, the prospect of a largely debridement free day tomorrow (yay!!!!!!!!!!!! today was horrendous!!!!!!!!!!), and soothing activity. I had been coloring my free-form designs and studying my randomly chosen color palettes. I might do a few more because this brings together what I need: smooth, even breaths, calm and focus for affirmations and prayers, and the pleasure of color. Best of all, I use less Rx and can wean from it in time for next year's whacked budget. That bit is my Christmas and New Year's gift, all in one money-saving package. All to the good!

Have you EVER lost your cell phone??? I lost mine today......for about an hour!!! I was out grocery shopping and had been to Dollar Tree, Walmart and Aldi....it was at Aldi, just after I had left the produce section, when I realized my phone was NOT in my jacket pocket!! EGADS!! I felt sure it must have fallen out somewhere in the produce department. I looked but did not see it. Another customer was with her young daughter, and called my phone while her daughter and I checked opposite sides of the store. Nope...nothing. So.....I drove ALL the way back up to Dollar Tree and Walmart (4 miles up the road), checked the parking lots and looked under cars, and asked everyone I could think of inside the stores if anyone had turned in a cell phone....nope. A lady at DT also called my number to see if it rang in the store, but nothing. So....back down the road another 4 miles back to Aldi. This time, I approached one of the cashiers and asked if anyone had turned in a cell phone. He replied, "We have it in the office" WOO-HOO!!!! I retrieved it and asked who had turned it in, and where it was found. He was not sure who turned it in, but.........it was found in the PRODUCE section, like I had originally thought! I think it must have fallen out while I was looking under boxes for a decent cauliflower (which I found). Apparently, my ringer wasn't up too loud....I'll make sure it's all the way up when I go out from now on. So.....that all took up an extra hour of my time today, but I'm so THANKFUL that some honest person turned it in! Phew.....I'm all spent over that one, haha!!!
Glad you found your phone!

I lost my phone somewhere between a shop and home. Luckily, it was in my car.

Yesterday at Costco I purchased the wrong size long underwear for Hubby's Christmas present. Today I returned to the store and righted my mistake. That means my shopping is DONE! At the grocery store I scored a great deal on boneless chicken thighs, which will turn into a meal to be determined for the church staff after the holidays.

Later this afternoon will attend a display of Nativity sets from around the world. It should be interesting.
