What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Laundry, kitchen chores, hair conditioning, maybe a nice nap. We are having another few days of bloody hot and humid days and nights before we get another break when temps will actually dip below 90 F. Everyone is sort of slouching toward September.

Got in a short time ago from a special shindig for our Pastor. He has been at our small church for 23 years now, came in August 1997.(We've been there for the past 14 of those). Plus his birthday is in August, so every year we have a combo BD/Anniv meal at church for him. We had BBQ, Chicken tenders, pork & beans, potato salad, cole slaw, 3 bean salad, grape salad, banana pudding, oatmeal choc chip cookies, potato chips, canteloupe, watermelon, PLUS.....his birthday cake!! SO much food!! Everyone was able to take some home. We have enough for tomorrow's Sunday dinner!
No coronavirus where you live?
SoCal, Yes, there is some coronovirus here in SC, tho the numbers are finally trending downwards. We are a very small church. There were less than 20 at this get-together on Saturday. We are the same bunch that always meet on Sundays and Wednesdays. We keep our distance, elbow bump and everyone carries and uses hand sanitizer! None of us have had any symptoms of the virus. Our Pastor was tested about 10 days ago when he went through out-patient surgery to have his gall bladder out, and was negative. Hubby and I were recently tested so I could show my son I was negative so I could go visit my grandbabies. So we are careful when we get together, but we are small and are cautious not to get too close. At our Church service on Sunday, families sit together, but others sit several rows apart and/or across the aisles....and we use our hand sanitizer!!
I'm using my home warranty to get my garbage disposal and microwave fixed. I found the glasses I wanted at Amazon for half the retail price. Now I just have to figure out how to use my vision insurance and get reimbursed from my health care benefits.

Workout. Finish book. Start next book.

Sort something, clean something, and monitor the live rodent trap (we have attracted a wee mouse and would like it to live somewhere else).

Went to Costco to stock up before the college kids (returning to in-person learning) potentially explode our city's COVID curve and it gets more dicey going out. smiling smiley Have one year's worth of toilet paper now from months of stocking up.
Work-- eventually. Supplies are as late as they usually are on the weekend. I hope everything is okay! If ever that ends (and it might not end before noon if we fill in for people who have to go to their day jobs and need a sub for early work due to the late start time), I will just take a nap and do a gentle workout.

Bike ride before it got too hot. Aldis for a couple of things. Maybe getting hair cut.

So four jobs and nine batches of work later, we slithered home... it was hot... we were draggin' butt... and now we can start on the originally scheduled task list. It will take us until next Tuesday to finish everything! Meanwhile, I looked at the post above and asked myself, "Self, what is your hurray moment?" Self said, "Ten more minutes of exercise than I did yesterday." m'kaaaayyyyyyyy.....

I bought my house in 2018. I have a very tiny plot of landscaping in the front and slightly more in the back, within my wooden fence. After going back and forth between hiring a landscaper and DIY, the weeds have overtaken it. I finally contacted who was highly recommended on Next Door. He also gave me his business card at a gas station.

I sent him a picture and asked him to give me some ideas with an estimate. I liked his vision. $250 cash, and he is doing the work on Saturday.

It's raining today. I printed my label to return some Indian borage cuttings I got from eBay but will wait til it stops raining to go to Post Office. Going to make homemade chicken vegetable soup. That will make me feel better. I will prolly do surveys and read my Kindle. I always watch Let's Make a Deal at 3 pm ...lol

Our condominium complex recommended we have our dryer ducts cleaned, and offered a special rate to make that happen. Hubby thought that since we have no idea of the condo's history we should take advantage.

My window was from 8-10 am, and the crew of two arrived at 9:59. Once they left I skedaddled to run errands and do some post office shops. They were all pretty close to each other, and I was able to get a walk in between each.

I had a leisurely 7 minutes to spare this morning before work. I put frozen chicken breasts in the crock pot and topped with an open simmer sauce that was in the fridge. When I got home 10 hours later, I shredded the chicken and added water and rice. It was Butter Chicken.

Yum!

Mozzarella. Watched on Jamie Oliver show and decided to try. But, didn't get to it today.

Work. It was so early we left home yesterday to get supplies for today's work! It was a few minutes before midnight, but still... that is prompt!

Gazing alternately at eom shops, enm (early next month) shops, potential routes, hairy legs, and remaining projects. Hmm. Beyond the piles of project stuff are my beloved books... my beloveds are waiting for me... what is the real priority here, eh? grinning smiley

I did that once years ago. It was pretty easy.

Planning a late September trip in the Shenandoah Valley. Might make a route of thrift store shopping (Not MS). Later today, storage shop 1 mile from home with a hefty bonus, errands at garden store, Aldi and Tuesday Morning. While I am out of the way, housemate will clean main level floors.

Well, our AC died 2 days ago. Our AC guy came out and tried to fix it, but no-go. So, we are having another unit installed today. We have been fortunate enough to stay with a brother/sister in law who live about 4 miles from us, so that has been a huge blessing. We left several back windows open and when we left our house Wed around suppertime, it was 95 in there!!! We have gone by each day to pick up our mail and check on things. The AC crew is there now, while my husband is there making sure it all goes OK. Me, I'm enjoying the comfort of the AC at my brother's house!!
I need a new pair of walking shoes. (I hate the current style with a mesh top; the pair I bought four months ago already has holes where both of my big toes are.) Went to store, decided I didn't want to spend $65 for something of the same mesh-y style, and popped into a thrift store to see if they had anything. They didn't, but they DID have a quilt and sham set that I decided would look good in the bedroom.

Will look for shoes again tomorrow.

This morning I went to the wrong location for a community event my job was having. It was close to work, so I went to the office and checked my email. The location changed. After another wrong location, I found the right place. I got my nails done after work.

I am so glad today is Friday!

Work. Long nap. Prep kitchen for a) further diy attempts to fix the problem and b) in worst case scenario, an actual plumber, who will not arrive until next week. Try not to snivel about the missed lucrative work opportunities; that feels like water down the drain, ya' know?

Put the bikes on the rack and drove halfway across town for a ride. Along the way stopped in to visit Youngest Son-first time we've seen him in about three weeks. Later today church and dinner out.

The landscaper didn't do the work today because the ground was wet from torrential rains. He stopped by to do a visual and assured me he will return tomorrow. When he saw the weeds trying to enter my front door, he asked for more money ($50).

Gladly!

There was a sound coming from my phone. It sounded like running water. I don't know what triggered the sound or what it was. I had to reboot my phone to make it stop.

Work. Nap. More of plumbing. Relax. Perfect!

I returned a broken food chopper to Aldi's and bought a beefed up one from Amazon. I am having a ball using the different blades. Cleaning is simple(r) with the brush that was included.

My front yard looks so much better now that it's landscaped.
