BARE payment

I've heard of a shopper getting such a large check one month from them that they were not allowed to receive direct deposit. To make sure accounting didn't mess anything up I believe was the excuse given. You would think Sassie would have a way to keep track of what shoppers are paid. But I'm not an employee of an MSC, I don't know what goes on behind the scenes of these websites.

Are you not in the USA? I am just confused about the fact they don't do DD in your area...being out of the country is the only reason I can come up with at the moment.

As I have just updated my profile for them, I see they now offer "electronic payment similar to DD". This has not always been the case. I generally update all my registrations for MSC at least every nine months or sooner depending on the number of shops I do.

Clicking on update edit does not mean one has to read everything, this time I chose to read everything that did not look like it was there when I last updated. But like I said I am pleased with the check issusance. smiling smileysmiling smileysmiling smiley
I've always been paid reliably by direct deposit, so far... but last month I got my payment pending notice (or whatever you want to call it) on February 13th. Now, it did say to "Please allow several business days for payment to arrive"... but wow ~ it took a whole week.

My payment email has always stated "Please allow several business days for payment to arrive."
It has always arrived as promised. On the rare occasions there was an error, I either emailed my scheduler or the person listed on the on the payment email.
DD is fine but I do wish we could have the PayPal option.
Direct deposit is always my first choice otherwise there is a delay of a couple days before it gets to my bank. For accounting purposes, I run everything through my bank account.

I have always been paid on time and by DD with Bare. Last payment was Feb. 15th by DD. I received an email 2/13 telling me it would take several days to show up at my bank. I do a lot of shop for Bare, they pay pretty fast and I enjoy the shops. The editors almost always have something nice to say or a gentle correction, if needed.
I can't complain about them either. Normally there are just a few types of jobs in my area. One only pays $10, but since it takes 15 minutes on site and another 5 on the report, they make great fillers. The second I like is an upscale car wash that is mostly reimbursement. Since it is the place I go on my own dime, the reimbursement and five bucks for another really quick report is worthwhile.

Wonder why we got the email notice on the same day, but your payment arrived in two days, and mine took seven? Could the bank it's being deposited to cause a delay?

I love my scheduler from Bare... and yes, the editors are nice, too. I love that $10 easy shop Lisa refers to, and love to find one open along a route I'm doing. I'll also just do four in a day (the allowed limit) around town when I can get them, too.

Unless your payment was missed and had to be resent, you may want to check with your bank. ACH (direct deposits) processed on one day will normally post to the receiving bank on the following day.

I trust them more than I trust some newbie troll whose first post is an unsubstantiated slam against a perfectly reputable company.

After writing my response, I looked and did not see the poster online. My guess is he is a one hit wonder who just wants to slam Bare.

I've never had a problem with BARE. I've been paid both by check and direct deposit with them over the years and I've never worried. Plus, the scheduler that I worked with doing video for is very good with communication and usually answers any questions that same day.
I have always been paid by Bare, but I had (still have since they never paid) a HUGE problem with their (now defunct?) video division. I have posted ad nauseum on the Vorum about it. I even tried to escalate a complaint to the MSPA with no results. I'm always skittish about taking their jobs now.

I'm not here to slam Bare. I only came here to see if others have had a problem getting paid. I received my payment notice by email Feb 13th. It's now March 12th and I still have not received my check. Their policy is you have to wait 30 days for them to issue a stop payment which they charge you $30.00 for and then they will re-issue you a new check. Direct deposit was not offered to me when I started doing shops for them. The schedulers have always been friendly and made nice comments about my reports.
I have worked for companies in the past that had financial troubles and had problems getting paid and in one instance I never did get fully paid. I went to court and got a judgement against them and even then I was only able to collect about 20% of what they owed me. I have been burned before so when I get the checks in the mail story and it never arrived I get worried. I not doing the shops for my health. This is part of how I make my living, so not getting paid is a big deal to me. I've sent bares payment department an email with a return receipt asking for them to do the stop payment and reissue another check. I have not got an acknowledgement that they have even read my email. I've called them several times and no one answers the phone.

I'm not sure why you quoted my post or felt that it was directed at your comments on the first page of the thread. My post along with the one by itsasecret were directed at the person who referred to Bare as cheats and went so far as to use the slam in their alias name. Members who are truly interested in finding a solution to a problem, like you, will provide background information so others can offer advice.

My suggestion would be to call Bare again. I have had luck getting through to someone during normal business hours and they are located somewhere in the east. If you cannot get through to someone in payroll, keep trying schedulers. David is one I have been able to get on the phone even if it took more than one call.

After no response either by email or phone for 5 days. I tried calling them and kitting 0 to see if i could get a person on the line. most of the time they don't answer the phone but on my second day of calls I got a real person by and was transfer to some one bgy the name of Kim who could supposedly fix my problem. I got their voice mail. I Didn't get a return call by the next day so I got back on the phone again and this time Kim answered. I was told that there was a 99% chance they would put a replacement check in the mail on Wed. On Thursday I call to see what the status is. The check didn't go out Wednesday, and it's not going out Thursday either. I said to Kim what about the 99% chance my check was going out on Wednesday and now it's not going out Thursday either. She said we send out 3,000 check a month. This was the justification for not sending out my replacement check as promised. I have to wonder, how many of the 3000 check do they have to send out replacement check for (at the shopper expense). It shouldn't be this hard to get paid for money that was earned. Bare hold shoppers money longer than any of the other companies when there is no problems.
My experience with Bare has not been good. I have to wonder if they have cash flow problems and by loosing some checks each month they can afford to operate?
Is there a reason you don't do direct deposit? Just wondering. I don't believe Bare operates under the "lose checks so we can pay our bills" strategy. They have been in business for years and years and have had a stellar rep all of that time. There of course is an occasional glitch with any business and it may be you are in the middle of one of those and that is unfortunate for both you and Bare.

Go do a bank shop, get paid to open an account, and use that account for all your direct deposits.

I wish they ALL did direct deposit. I've got a few who pay by check and I'm always stressing that I might lose one. And now they want to cut back on mail deliveries, which will further delay paper checks getting to you.

The mark of good customer service is not things work when everything is perfect but how they handle problems. The way they are treating Moffett8 is terrible. This is, of course, ironic due to the business that Bare is in. It is not Moffett8's fault that the check was lost and he shouldn't have to pay for it (either literally or figuratively). I had the same issue with Maritz a few years ago and they put a stop payment on the check, gave me the check number so I wouldn't cash it if it reached me, and issued a new check. This is the way it should be handled. Granted direct deposit would mitigate this problem but that is not the point. Moffett8 did the work and he should get paid.
I think if they are going to make Moffett8 pay for the stop payment order they should be required to provide proof of mailing. which they won't be able to do. We are supposed to take their word that they sent it but they won't take our word that we promise not to cash it if it ever shows up.

When I initially signed up with bare they didn't offer direct deposit in the US

Bare is charging me $30.00 for the stop payment. That's the equivalent of doing 3 post office shops for them for free, ugh!

I would tell them not to put on the stop payment, but just to replace the check six months from now. But that's going to depend on how much the check was for, and how quickly you need the money. If it was a $150 check, I would wait. If it was $600 I might spend the $30 to get it now.

The situation with Bare checks is this......If you do not receive your check for the previous months work, they will issue a new check for the full amount after six months......If you opt for another check to be issued immediately, they dock the amount of said check by 30 bucks and send a new one ( $30 less ) via priority mail.
I actually do a lot of shops for these folks, never had a problem with them but one of their biggest clients has three shop scenerios and the last one requires a large outlay of funds...too much for the pay amount so I will just do the first two types of assignments for this client. Right now I am holding my breath waiting for a rather large check that was mailed out on March 13th. I don't know why I never signed up for Direct Deposit with BARE like I have for so many other companies but I just did.

My current problem is that about 10 days ago I opted for the replacement check. I was told last Wednesday that there was a 99% chance the replacement check would go out on Wednesday. The check didn't go out on Wednesday,Thursday or Friday. On Friday I sent an email requesting a update with a read receipt and they read the message and but no one replied. The last reply I got was from Kim at Bare on Thursday saying they were only one person......
Either Bare is really messed up or has cash flow problems. i sent another email today and didn't get a response.
