Beyond Hello Cancelling Shop After I've Completed It.

Was anyone else doing the plumbing shops for Beyond Hello? I had a shop scheduled for today and the opening hours were 9 to 5 so I dutifully completed my shop. Then I get an email from the scheduler at 8:15pm to say that the shop had been cancelled. Fortunately I had not written the report yet and hey, what else would I rather be doing on a Saturday afternoon than hanging out discussing double vanities just for the fun of it! Little bit put off Beyond Hello now by this. They don't have a lot of shops in my area and the ones that I have done have had no issues and I was getting the impression that they were a good MSC. Has anyone else had this experience with them?

I would protest vigorously. But first make sure that you didn't have to have the report in within that time period before the cancellation notice. They owe you something for your time and effort and if they don't offer you an acceptable compromise, ditch them. I have not worked for them for a long time--long enough ago that I don't remember what the issue was.
I did that plumbing shop this past Monday and everything was fine. I think I might go check and see if it shows on my job board as completed, though.
Being overly passive, I had been prepared to just let it go but your responses inspired me to contact the scheduler. Apparently it was a mistake and the email was not meant for the shops scheduled up to that point. Phew, I really like Beyond Hello and I didn't want them to disappoint me.
Good for you Harriet - stand up for your rights. I'm glad it worked out. In my view they owed you the full amount as you carried out your end of the agreement.
I'm also glad it was a mistake. I hope they made things better with an apology or perhaps a leg up on shops you want to do in the future?

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
Hi Everyone!!

This is Greg, a scheduler from Beyond Hello, and I hope I'm not imposing. I'm just INCREDIBLY sorry for the frustration over canceled plumbing shops...

If there's anything I can do for any of you or if you still have a dispute with us at Beyond Hello, please do contact me directly at my email address, Greg@BeyondHello.com.

You could also call my extension at (800)-321-2588 EXT 857. I generally work 9am to 5pm central time on weekdays. I'm on during some sporadic hours as well...

Anyway, I'd like to be sure that everything is set right with you all.

Thank you, everyone!! Have a great day!!!
Greg, thank you for your reply. I don't shop with Beyond Hello yet, but now I'll probably register!
Great!!! I'm more than happy to hear that! I hope you'll enjoy working with us!!!

Greg is good people for Beyond Hello. I never had a problem with him, he will take care of you.

Arguing with fools is like playing chess with a pigeon...
...No matter how good you are, the pigeon will s@^t on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

Not scheduling for ANY company.
Greg, I have to commend you for your response to Harriet's post. Ihave had that happen to me on a few occasions, and the MSC usually gives me the FO, even though I have submitted the report. So kudos to you.
Thank you both, DanteInOH and sethd85, so much for the kind words!! I really appreciate it!!!
Well, I signed up for Beyond Hello. Unfortunately, there are no jobs within 50 miles of me! I am in a dead zone with a number of shops just outside that 50 mile circle. Hopefully, some assignments will come up later.
Beyond Hello was one of the first MSC's I worked with in 1995 or so. I have never had a problem.
Hi kamarkim,

You will likely see the most assignments in your area toward the beginning and middle of each month. That's generally when waves of shops are sent out by us.

So, please just hold on, and please keep an eye on your email if you're signed up for email alerts... I hope that's alright!! Sorry I can't be of more help!!

Hello Sandra Sue,

It's great to hear you've been around with us for so long!!! After all, we were only founded in 1991!!!

I'm very glad you've never had a problem, and I hope you'll continue working with us into the future!!!

Yes, that is unacceptable. I just had something similar happen with another MSC last week. However, they did return the shop to me and agreed to pay after listening to me.
I'm signed up too and just applied for my first shop. If I'm accepted it'll be $25 with no adjustments, because it's within walking distance! (I'm going to miss this house when I move. Right near the seventh-biggest mall in the United States. Do you have any idea how many shops are in there?)
I'm glad you ended up getting the shop!! I hope you enjoy conducting it today!!!

Wherever you move, I'll bet there's more work with Beyond Hello!!!

All good and fine that Greg will (or might) solve it now. But there should not have to be more work on the shopper part to reclaim something that was his shop in the first place. If you are scheduled on a date, perform it on a date, there should be no issue. If a client pulls then it is between store A and shopping company. The shopper should not have to be in limbo will I or will I not be paid for a shop they performed.

I haven't done anything for them in years now. I think I'll check them out to see if they have anything in my area again.

Willing to travel, Alberta, Canada
BKR, if you're in Houston, my sister's looking to rent it while she's in Australia . . . don't get too excited, though! I'm going on Saturday to look at an apartment that's only two miles away!
CANADAMOMMY,

I believe all issues with this cancellation have been resolved at this point. At least, they have been to my knowledge... Thank you for checking!!!

I certainly understand what you mean though!!!

My cancellation email could have been more specific for people who already completed their shop or were due to complete their shop on the same day as the cancellation.

My email was as follows:

"Please note that the Kohler plumbing showroom visit you were assigned has been cancelled - our client has made a change in the program dates. Please watch the Job Board, as the shop will be rescheduled the end of May.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your assistance."

I recognize now that it could have been more descriptive and explanatory. So, thank you for pointing that out!! I will certainly improve any contact in the future should this worst case scenario happen again... Let's hope that it won't...

We live and we learn, Greg! Thank you for going above and beyond to rectify the misunderstanding. I'm glad it all worked out because I really enjoyed working with Beyond Hello.
I have had this issue with other companies. All the work I have done for Beyond Hello has been paid and the plumbing shop ws rather extensive as I recall.

I had another shop scheduled with another company and I got a message from the scheduler at 8:35 PM that they had the dates wrong. She told me to go ahead and submit the report if I had done it anyway (Of course I had, I am not a flake). It is showing pending payment on my board.

I also know schedulers who have made mistakes on dates when assigning jobs. They have sometimes paid the shoppers out of their pocket if they were unable to contact the shopper and the report was submitted and approvable (except for the incorrect date of shop).

I hope Greg makes this right for you.
Greg,

You are doing a great job!

But you mentioned the clients name: "_______ Plumbing" in your cancellation letter above...We are not supposed to mention the MSC and the client together (since you are BH) in the same posting thread. smiling smiley
