I have a question for those of you who have experience in doing these shops.
I took one last month and they give you three scenarios from which to choose. I chose the scenario where you don't have to bring a pay stub as long as you bring printed bank statements with a direct deposit line, since my current employer pays me via direct deposit. It says specifically in the guidelines, bank statement from current employer noting direct deposit and a letter from employer and an internet printed transaction history. So I brought all that.
In my city, we led the fight a few years ago that cracked down hard on payday lenders. So when I went in to do this shop, I told the girl that I had my bank statements showing my direct deposit. She made two different phone calls, and then told me that, since my city has passed new regulations regarding payday loans, that I must have a pay stub and that they would not accept a printout of my bank statements showing my direct deposit line, and she suggested that I go to another store outside of my city limits to get the loan. So I reported that in my shop report.
Yesterday I accepted another one of these shops for today, and as I was noodling around on my shopper log, I noticed that the shop I did last month was invalidated because I did not have a pay stub, even though I selected the scenario where I didn't have to have one (because I have direct deposit, and proof of direct deposit, as per their very own shop guidelines.) There is nothing in the guidelines about local laws prohibiting me from selecting that scenario, and that was the first of these payday shops that I have ever done.
I emailed the scheduler to ask about it and I am still waiting for a response. I don't want to do the shop that I have scheduled today if it's going to be rejected outright. I feel like I've been slighted by Intellishop in this very peculiar situation, since I did the shop in good faith, I adhered to the shop guidelines, and I probably also gleaned some new information for Intellishop to consider in their instructions. I had no way to know that the local laws changed in such a way that would have precluded me from using the valid documents that I have, and I don't think Intellishop would have had any way of knowing either until someone came along and actually did the shop per their very own guidelines. (And, honestly, a part of me thought that the girl really didn't know what she was talking about, since she had to make two phone calls, so when I scheduled another shop for today, it didn't occur to me to try to do a shop outside of my city limits- it's not my fault if the people I'm supposed to be evaluating don't know what they're talking about, I just report what happened.)
So... what should I do?
