Why on earth does Maritz ignore the request for an email response???

I think part of the problem is that many of these American companies don't have Canadian schedulers for their Canadian jobs and seem lost when it comes to Canadian geography, even though the information is available online. It's not just Maritz who does this kind of thing, I've had other American companies sending me "close by" jobs that weren't even in my province and not seeming to be aware of the huge distance. I also see a lot of cases where MSP's are trying to schedule remote locations and don't seem to understand that their chances of scheduling for a paltry fee are almost none, let alone scheduling it at all unless they cultivate shoppers in that area or get creative in their approach (ex. if I wanted to schedule a shop in an area that has a sparse population and is going to be popular with hunters, I'd consider how best to reach the crowd that is going to those areas.)

I stopped shopping them for awhile because they tried to screw me out of about $100 worth of shops. They were on hold and I corrected them but the system would not take them so they dropped off and were reposted on the board. This is after I tried several times, called three times and they were so swamped that I did not receive the return call until it was too late. Fortunately I was able to threaten action so they paid me.

Yes, in the past, when I have played phone tag with them, I did have a lot of problems getting answers. I had totally forgotten that a relative of mine who is also a shopper had had a major problem with them before too and she had dealt with them on the phone but had had numerous phone calls and still couldn't get the matter sorted out. We also had a situation where they would be calling and leaving voicemail for her on my answering machine and vice versa because we had the same last name but we lived in different cities. Even after bringing this to their attention, it still happened. She finally stopped shopping for them some time back because she was very frustrated with the inefficiencies as well (and yes, like I said, she did do the phone thing with them.)

I got an email from them yesterday asking if I would do some shops with an incentive. I sent a reply with which ones I will do and they are on my list now. No problems with email there.

As for image size I just click on all my images and resize them before uploading. I use this

The problem is when you require an answer back by email. Sounds like all they had to do was assign you jobs and not answer any questions.

That does not sound like the Maritz I deal with. I suspect there is more to the story than them trying to screw you out of money. And I also suspect they paid you to get rid of you, not because they feared your threat.
When I first joined this board people were able to make a post without being made to feel like they were saying something wrong or being jumped on for their opinions. What happened? I'm not pointing anyone out in particular but it seems like every thread has to turn into some kind of argument of some sort. If someone says that they didn't get paid someone else will say 'it must be your fault they are great to me change the title of your thread' (exaggeration) We each have our own individual experiences with schedulers and companies does everything have to become an argument? I came over to this board because the other mystery shopping board was getting out of hand I liked the friendly personalities and the helpful attitudes of the posters. I know that I have been busy and haven't had time to post much but what in the heck happened? Why are some of you so mean.

Please don't jump on me.

I agree with you. I found some (but not all of the replies thankfully) a bit unnecessarily rude. Don't let it bother you too much, usually when people are hostile to someone they don't even know over something that doesn't even involve them, usually it is more about stuff going on in their own life that we aren't privy to.

Thanks, it doesn't really bother me I just had one of my random thoughts. It does make me hesitant to post any grievance that I may have against an MSC though.

OK, saying "get rid of you" may have been a bit harsh. Perhaps "to resolve the situation" would have been better. It just doesn't sound like the Maritz I deal with.
Post all the grievances you want but be prepared to back them up with details. Many one-hit wonders come here just to trash a MSC or a particular scheduler. Or they whine about not being paid for a shop only to find out later, after several follow-up questions from forum members, that they did not perform the shop properly. Of course we have the occasional troll who likes to stir the pot. These are all valid cases of why some forum members get fed up.
The last Maritz scheduler who called me knew how to use google maps and told me the exact distance from my door to the shop before I had it pulled up. They played hardball on the negotiation, but we split the difference and I did a shop for them recently.

This is the phone I picture them using when they call me:

No, that is not their phone. Their phone is black and hangs on the wall by the door. The mouthpiece is on the phone so the ladies stand on tippy toes and speak directly into it. The receiver is shaped like a tulip and hangs up and down in a cradle located on the side of the phone when not in use. I know this because my phone is exactly like their phone.

And the phone number is WA(ntagh) 1-1710 and there are 3 other people who have the same number and you should hang up if someone else is on the party line. Or don't and get the latest gossip. Wasn't there an old song about PEnnsylvania 1-5000, or something like that?
The song was an instrumental (and later had lyrics added) by Glenn Miller and was PEnnsylvania 6-5000. [www.youtube.com] It was (as still is) the phone number of the Hotel Pennsylvania which is located just across from Madison Square Garden in NYC. Here are the lyrics: [lyricsplayground.com] If you prefix the number with the area code, 212, the Hotel Pennsylvania switchboard will answer even today.

Ahh, no wonder I kept getting the wrong number. Thank you myst4. Actually I have been in that hotel several times. I didn't realize the phone number never changed, nor could I remember it correctly.
Maritz has what I have come to call a Twentieth Century mindset. They exist in a Monday through Friday nine to five world where people communicate mostly by telephone. It drives me nuts, too. That, and oh, the fact that they owe me more than one hundred dollars for shops that they never paid me for. Why didn't they pay me? I uploaded only one copy of the receipt instead of two.

My wifes mother is 89 years old. She pays her bills online. Albeit, my wife and her sister monitor her accounts every couple days, but so far, not a singular issue! My mother on the other hand is 75 and won't touch a computer, she will blissfully look over my father's shoulders and read what's on the screen (or view pics of the grandchildren), but she will not even touch the keyboard!

Maritz chooses to communicate on the telephone. That's the way they do business. I would rather use email. They don't care. I want to work for them. I adapt.

It's got nothing to do with who is old and who is not old. I'm old. Most of the ladies and gentlemen there are younger than I am.

If you can't adapt, then you are the one who is truly aged.

I'd remind you that I am not the one who said anything about people's ages, that was other people on the thread thank you. As for "if you can't adapt, then you are the one who is truly aged." I beg to differ. My time is better spent working on jobs that can be efficiently done, that's just a fact. When a lot of time is wasted via inefficient processes, that job begins to be less and less valuable to me considering all the time and frustration it entails.

I performed two similar Maritz shops at the same location two days in a row. I didn't realize I had to submit my invoice twice on each shop and it was a headache trying to get paid and more time on the phone than it was worth. If I had not received a bonus on the shops, I would have deactivated my account. Everyone was nice on the phone, but I received so many mixed messages that my head was spinning.
I like working for them but I never have to email or call them. I usually ignore their calls when they call me. They like to call when I'm at work. When I whisper to tell them that I can't talk right now they cant hear me & I have to repeat it like 3 times before I give up. Now I just ignore there calls. Theyve gotten too cheap w/the bonus $ lately so not worth the aggravation.

alannajm, That is what they want. Submit the receipt or both receipts as your invoice. You will get paid promptly. If you have not gotten paid $100 that is owed to you call them. They will send you to someone who can resolve the problem and you will get paid. We may joke about their phone system but they are good people and do not, not want to pay you what is owed.

I used to scan the receipts into my computer and then discard the originals. This was a mistake. Due to computer problems I no longer have the receipts that they want duplicate copies of. I was in touch with someone at the company about this issue, but after awhile they stopped responding. I can understand why they would not want to reimburse me for the required purchases without the receipt (although they do have one copy of the receipt), but I sent them an invoice because I feel that I am still owed the fees.

"Evolve thyself and lose all hate...." Orphaned Land
Just like any MSC you have to use and follow their system. They have an independent platform and a lot of what you all are complaining about is built into it and they can't change it. I assume the invoicing system comes under that heading.
If you don't want to work for them that's fine, but let's be clear that it's YOUR issue if you can't work within the invoicing system. It's just one extra step that takes about 1 minute. You have already presumably scanned the receipts or business card into your computer. All you have to do is upload it one more time.
You would be entirely and utterly wrong. But I'll bet that happens a lot in your life. Not that you would know, given your obliviousness to your shortcomings.

Naw, they still owe me $100...and I just completed 15 bonused shops for them in the past three days.

Do not read so much, look about you and think of what you see there.

I'm not sure who your post was directed tp but pretty stupid to do 15 more shops if they really do owe you $100. Will u be back here in 30-45 days to com[plain about not getting paid for 15 bonused shops? Did u invoice all 15 shops?

Are they saying they don't have the first copy you sent them of the receipts? If they do, I would think it would be possible for them to simply copy it over and resolve the issue. P.S. Wow, some really rude responses to you on the thread, ignore them, some people apparently can't disagree or state a point without being hostile.
