I am owed about $700. You got off lucky.

Oh, wow.... That's really rotten. I'm sorry you got caught at the wrong time (to say the least). I guess I was lucky; they never had more than one or two shops in my area, so I only did two for them. Thankfully got paid for both.

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.
Edited to add: I see the confusion - the old threads don't have the word "bankruptcy in them

You don't have to search - it's pinned to the top of the page - NSS Payment Issues - READ THIS FIRST

Then there is this one: [www.mysteryshopforum.com]

Tried to search for NSS + Bankruptcy -- no results that had the term bankruptcy when using ctrl+F on the first several pages of results. I guess search feature doesn't dig into the meat of the threads enough. I don't think I could have ever done as much as $700 with as few shops as they had in Kentucky. Whew. That's a couple weeks worth of pay for some people sad smiley

Out of that $700, most of that was promised bonus money. When I look back at how much I made off this company over the years, I came out ahead. It still stings, though. It's a good thing I didn't really need the money or I would be screaming about it.
Yes the bonus money is what I am perturbed about. I can write off the cost of the purchases I had to make but I never would have done those particular jobs without the bonus. So the work I and many of us did was for the bonus which we cannot write off from what I understand. The jobs I did had no fees. Fortunately for me it did not amount to too much. Jasflalmt that amt really stings.
If you have written documentation of the bonuses, I would think that would qualify as a contracted part of your shop "payment". "Think" being the operative word here. Although, technically, bonuses are taxed at a higher rate, my guess is that most shoppers include that as part of their shop pay. If scrutinized by the court or the irs, you'd be screwed though.

I lost over $500.00 with them mainly in bonuses for shops with state agency. And you should look for Business Index Group and not for NSS.

Shopping Eastern Pennsylvania since 2009
At a bankruptcy hearing, (with the Trustee) creditors are allowed to attend and present evidence as to why the debtor should be obligated to pay. I intend to move forward in showing why I think something is not right about all this and the Trustee would be very interested. The Trustee's job is to find assets, whether they be hidden, not reported or mismanaged. If they tried to move assets away from NSS and into other properties, this needs to be looked at.
If this is a "business" then what you are owed is accounts receivables. All businesses can write off uncollectable bad debts. Once I complete an assignment, I am owed and I have an a/r. If I don't get paid, whether my fault or not, I have a bad debt. If you use certain accounting methods.
Did anyone get a notice from the U .S. Bankruptcy Court about filing a proof of claim?

I just did! The trustee has reported that a payment of dividends appears possible. I have to file Proof of Claim with the Clerk of Bankruptcy Court. You can also file online. There is no fee for filing a claim.
I got mine out of the mail today. I might go digging around to see my proofs. $17 isn't a lot to chase, but I know it could mean a lot to some folks. It might mean paying your kids lunch bill.

I got a letter about them filing for bankruptcy but nothing about where I could file a claim, is that a separate letter? And I can I file a claim without it?
I also got my letter today.

This is the URL to file claims: [ecf.caeb.uscourts.gov]

I just filed my claim (#24). My only proof was the emails of my assignment confirmation. Their site doesn't seem to exist anymore, they didn't send e-mails when reports were submitted, and I paid with gift cards so I don't have a screenshot of any transaction history I can post. I went through job confirmation emails to find the dates and bonus, and used the usual cost of the pizza ($10.99) as the reimbursement amount. After I submitted, I realized I still have photos of the completed form and pizza I could've included. Anyone know how to add documentation or edit a claim?

I'm not really expecting to get anything, so if something does happen it'll be a nice surprise.

I also got the letter today....have to figure out what to do next. I'm only owed 60.00 and don't have records as it was over a year ago.and I didn't expect to get paid. Thanks for the link.

Whew I’m glad I got screenshots of all the payments I was owed before they took the site down. Thanks for the link, will be filing a claim
This is interesting but I'm still not expecting much. I really wish I had better documentation to submit. I wasn't able to get anything off the website before it was down. Much like a previous poster, I just have the email confirmations showing the agreed upon reimbursements and bonuses. I suppose I could go back through my credit card statements to show the in store purchases. Not sure if that will do the trick or not. But I do have a lot of money at stake...thinking it was close to $300 or something. In this context, does anyone know what dividends are?
Does anyone have a list of the items we should include or are the best to include. I have not deleted any of my scans for these shops yet so I not only have emails but I also have pics of the pizzas. Think they would be interested in them? They do include the job number so it is proof I did the shop I guess. I do not want to overdo this with too much info.
I tried to call the number thinking it was the number to the law offices but it was the number to the court and that got an automated response.
Not sure, I didn't do any pizza shops for them. I sent in all of the confirmation emails which showed the job assignment ID numbers and agreed upon bonuses and reimbursements. I then also sent in credit card transaction printouts which showed purchases on those dates. Fortunately, the credit card transactions also show the location so it jives with the email confirmations. I also wrote up a cover letter explaining the situation and money that I am owed. Probably more time wasted but I am interested to see what happens. And I was out $246. So definitely worth a shot. Good luck.
I am filing my claim right now for $743.64 (worth a shot to get both fees and reimbursements) but the problem is, my screenshots of NSS website that I captured before they shut the site down are PNG and the claims site will only take Adobe PDF documents. I don't know how I can covert them or if it's even possible. Therefore, no photos are going to be able to be uploaded either, folks, since those are generally Jpeg. Any ideas?
Don't think they need photos, if you have other proof jobs were done...good luck, fingers crossed.

Open the photo.
Hit the print button.
When the printer menu comes up select the option let you print to PDF. How is dependent on your computer but windows now has a built in PDF printer.

The screenshots are images of the website pages showing the jobs completed and how much money they owe me, not photos, but others had mentioned they had photos as proof they completed the jobs. My documents are actual images of the website pages showing the job ID, address, and amount I am owed for each month. They can't be uploaded because they are in PNG format and the court website only takes PDF images. I have the proof, I just need to convert the PNG to PDF and I can't figure out how to do that.
The process is still the same.
