What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I have the Kindle app on all of my devices. With my Echo, I can have them read to me. I got my Echo Auto for that purpose.

It wasn't that long ago that I said I would never read a book in electronic format. Now, I can't remember the last time I read a hard copy book for pleasure.

I am reading Quentins by Maeve Binchy
I am listening to Blue Shoes and Happiness by Alexander McCall Smith
And on my phone, I have The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. I keep a book on my phone to read when I am awake in the night.
But no reading today. House guests are arriving.

I find all the formats have their use.

Thankyou and sounds like an interesting book.

I am reading 'In My Time' by Dick (and Liz) Cheney. It opens with his description of 9/11 events as they unfolded where he was and describes what people who hunkered/bunkered with him were doing in response to no, little, and eventually more information. The anniversary of that is less than two months away, and it seemed good to get a reminder of why it not a good to wage international (9/11) and domestic (rioters now) terrorist attacks on the good ol' USA.

Your reading list sounds wonderful. Enjoy your house guests! smiling smiley
Well, in about 2 hours, I begin my......COLONOSCOPY PREP!! UGH!!!! But....it's gotta be done! (But first I am going to go do a nicely bonused grocery shop). Gonna fill up on liquids today! Warm veggie broth actually tasted pretty good as part of my breakfast!
Good for you! Time to remind everyone that keeping up with your colonoscopy schedule is a HUGE factor in the very high survival rate for folks who do. Finding and removing those pre-cancerous cells is the key. I began this journey 40 years ago and remain cancer free.

Tomorrow I get to visit an Amazon Fulfillment Center. This is the big warehouse that stores all the stuff we consumers order. They have self driving forklifts and other robotics at this location.

Work. Errands. Grocery store (not a shop). There will be no time for reading, but I can think about the movies I watched yesterday: 'Prayer Never Fails' and 'Good Fences'.

On the way back from a shop in Baltimore I will stop at a large grocery store to see if they have on-the-stem tomatoes in stock. (Preferred for better taste and keeping qualities.) I may also grab a couple of made-to-order cheese and steak quesadillas (2 for $8) at a Dash-In along the route, to freeze for quick small meals.

When Hubby gets off work in five minutes we'll officially begin our 40th Anniversary Weekend Extravaganza.(The actual day is Sunday) It was supposed to be a trip to somewhere exotic, but thanks to COVID concerns we're settling for day trips from the house and a blessing at Mass on Saturday night.

Congratulations, KathyG! That's so awesome!!

Had my colonoscopy today and not even a single polyp...YAHOO! Gotta do it again in 5 years though, because of family history of colon cancer. But I'm glad about today's results!
KathyG, Happy Anniversary! 40 years and no bloodshed?

I visited the fulfillment center today. It was nothing short of amazing! Customer orders from NY-VA go through this center. Vendors send their items in bulk there. Robots (nothing like C-3PO, but more like arms and skateboards) organize the items. People get our orders packaged and labeled.

To say I was impressed was an understatement!

Work. Long nap. Wearing the next size smaller jeans and still breathing. Gather the largest pants and give them away with or without a donation shop. More of book and projects.

Oy ! Barbage, thanks for reminding me that I need to call my plumber ! My handiman is out of town until mid-October and I have a toilet that needs to be replaced long before then.

I LOVE it! There is a tremendous amount of opportunity for growth. The put out a blog today that they got approval from the FCC to start a space project to create internet access in underserved areas. Space!

I took a look at some of the jobs. They were all in Washington state. They had a position that was identical to what I did at NASA.

As an employee, I get stock vested after 2 years. An employee bonus every year on my start date and anniversary. That money has to be returned if I leave, so I have it sitting in a money market.

Keep buying from Amazon!

Household errands at garden store, UPS store to drop off an Amazon return, maybe a stop at Aldi, depending on the length of the line, ATM deposit (the remote deposit app is acting up, again). At home: deep conditioning my hair and then a couple of loads of laundry. Some of these chores may spill over into Sunday afternoon.

Seeing the new show at the History Museum about the Suffrage movement. Tonight we're having an anniversary blessing at Mass and dinner our somewhere. In between, produce shopping and miscellaneous.

The windowsill garden has oregano cuttings with a lot of roots, basil and a spiderette.

The deck garden has basil, sunflowers, bachelor buttons, kale, tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelon and green onions. The cilantro mint and spinach died horrible deaths. The watermelon plant has a bud. The green onions look funky.

Tomorrow is a trip to Aldi's for grocery shopping and to exchange the broken food chopper. My salad was so pretty.

I got a letter from the IRS with a proposed settlement that separates me from my ex's sketchy. Instead of our joint liability of $7,000, I owe $96. I am very happy with that.

Working (early job started late). Fuel, grocery store, and car wash (not shops). Sort something. Clean something. Be grateful for something.

Hike around a county park, produce run, and Zoom call with family tonight.

Thanks wales! Hanging in there with the garden or Amazon LOL!

I really love my job at Amazon. I'm glad I hung in there too. They are a great company to work for. They have ongoing training for managers. My coworkers are amazing. My manager, whom I've never met in person, is very supportive.

As for the garden on the deck, I have one watermelon plant in a container with a cage. That one has the bud. The watermelon plant in the wide box is starting to travel. You and my Mom said they need a lot of ground cover, so I plan to remove the cage and give it to the cucumbers.
