Twice a month (the middle and the end) are "big" grocery shopping days. Today I popped in and out of multiple places stocking up for both the people and the cat who live in the condo. The bag I keep vegetable scraps in the freezer was filled so this afternoon I'm making broth.

Slept until 4 AM. Astonishing! Having two free days is amazing!
Workout, work on something, and read.

Rolled out of bed at 6:30, threw my breakfast food in a bag, and was out the door by 6:50. Drove to hospital, where I had (fasting) blood drawn in anticipation of doctor visit in a couple of weeks. Ate breakfast while driving back home, and whole project was completed in an hour.

Now, trying to decide if I want to go outside and walk before forecasted rain starts in an hour.

I finally made an appointment to have the lump removed from my lower eyelid. I go in at 1:30pm. I chatted with Verizon to switch my FIOS bands. I was able to get my smart plugs connected (Alexa, turn on the bedroom light).

I finally got around to using my food processor. I cut the cauliflower head into small florets, placed some in the bowl, and hit pulse. Nothing. I thought it was operator error. Amazon said bad circuits and processed my return.

Never try to rice cauliflower by hand!

Work. Two projects. Lots of little house tasks.

I combined a purchase/optional return shop at an outlet mall with a whole bunch of errands to fill the hour until I could return the item I did not need.

After another day of online learning, we went to the Forest Park for a small picnic. We cleaned out our storage last weekend and donated a truck load of toys to a good developmental therapist who needed them. It was bittersweet parting with the earliest memories of my daughter's childhood but I know they went for a good cause.
Tomorrow I take my new glasses to the optician to get lenses. After that is work. Today was a chill day! I took my cauliflower shrimp fried rice for lunch and it was delicious.

Forest Park as in St. Louis?

Work. Nap. Sort something, clean something, read something.
Workout.

A couple of days ago I bought a new quilt for my bed at a thrift store. Today I went hunting for a flat sheet the right color to make a dust ruffle. Would you believe I found a ready-made one that I think might work!?! The color isn't exactly right, but it has split corners to accommodate my vintage bed frame. And it was only $4, so if I find something better I can get rid of this one with a clear conscience.

I love thrift store finds!

My Mom got a NWT Chanel purse for $6. I got some great deals also but I can't think of what they were.

@HonnyBrown. I have a small Ninja processor that I use for ricing cauliflower. It is cheap and takes less space on the countertop. Of course, you have to process in batches.
I believe it's this one though I bought mine years ago for $22.

After dinner Hubby and I drove across town for our walk. At the end we stopped in Shake Shack, where I used a free shake coupon a manager gave me months ago. The manager on duty, who I had the most interactions with over the years, greeted me like an old friend.

I miss Shake Shack. Not enough to pay for it myself. But I wonder if they'll ever start being shopped again.
I am finding bits of cauliflower in every nook and cranny of my kitchen. I will stick to frozen riced cauliflower and bottled pesto!

Work. Errands. Spend a few minutes re-arranging stuff and placing my new decorative plants.(I love real plants, but I need a certain constant size in the available space.)

It was a fairly cool morning and the small front garden was in shade. So, long-time housemate and I carefully decanted pails-full of mulch from the bags that were stacked in the hatch of my car. Even together, we could not pick up a full bag. We then settled on a system where she was able to sit down and decant mulch which I would then take to dump and spread in the garden. This was slow work for 2 little old ladies with back issues, and we had reached our limits after an hour.

We have been battling successive great rounds of weeds out there, and waiting for a relatively cool spell to do this project since early June. Every weeding session has been followed by 4-7 days of heavy rain and excessive heat. That invited m yet another crop of weeds since there was not enough mulch to restrain weed growth. All summer we had "rinse-and-repeat+ cycles of weeds Until now there has not been enough of a break in the heat for us to safely tackle the mulching. My reliable teen neighbor boys, who had been glad to work that garden, have aged-into better paid work with far more hours than I can offer them.

Tomorrow or Monday we will do another hour of this task. That will finish the current mulch supply, but not the task.

I may have to look into having Honny's landscaping fellow do some work here when funds become available. Maybe next spring ?

Bike ride this morning, then came home to take what I wanted to be a 15-minute nap. Forgot to set my alarm, though, and woke up 45 minutes later. Now I'm groggy and out of sorts.
