Genghis Grill Mongolian BBQ, my very favorite. They have a frequent diner program and I have filled two cards - 2 free meals. My son and I will eat free tonight (not MSP "free" - but REALLY free) - and no report! Yum! And maybe a trip to Dairy Queen for dessert if I feel really frisky!
I am pretty much cooking for a few days....maybe the whole week. I put in a Perdue oven roaster chicken and going to make a large baking dish of spanish rice ....also a sirloin tip roast beast. I will prolly put in a few russett baker potatoes to fill the oven totally! Woohoo!! ~
A 25 pound turkey, courtesy of my loyalty card at a grocer. Freezer space couldn't accommodate it until Thanksgiving, so we had it early. I make cat food with poultry, so when we tire of turkey salad, sandwiches, tetrazzini, and hash, the rest goes to the kitties.
Who knows? Heading out on a 3 night road trip. Since I cannot drive at night, dinner will depend on who delivers food to my no-frills hotel.

Making turkey taco's and salad. I'm also baking healthy carrot muffins using wheat flour and apple juice instead of butter, and cutting the sugar in half, adding walnuts, raisens and cranberries for texture. Losing weight before the holidays, not eating out much.

Roasted grapes and sausages. I wanted to serve it over polenta, but I'm too lazy to make it tonight and Trader Joe's was out so it will be mashed potatoes instead. Great for a cold, rainy fall day and easy enough for a week which will include 3 solid days of cooking to get ready for Thanksgiving!

I am at my sister's house where we will start co-cooking holiday dinner today, as we have done for almost 30 years. I will make chili for the family dinner tonight, with shredded chedda rand corn bread. Yum! She will be making 4 kinds of pies while I saute the veggies for the stuffing and simmer giblets for stock, and write MS reports.

Snacking all day and going to friends tomorrow...bringing my homemade cranberrie orange sauce and carrot raisen nut cake.

Snacks (brought by the guests) during the Packers-Lions game. (We are Wisconsinites originally, so go figure the odds.) Then, Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans almondine, califlower/broccoki mix with parm cheese sauce, fruit salad, home made cranberry relish, at least 5 kinds of pie and coffee. We take a couple of hours to rest and visit between dinner and dessert. During that time my BIL also strips the turkey carcass and assembles the soup pot (Which is a huge lobster pot) to make the basis for future turkey noodle soup. That's a big family tradition that is one of many that has helped inspire the young men of the family to see cooking as something that real men do. So too is the one about the young men peeling 10 lbs of potatoes during halftime of the football game, lol. Even the single male guests have been inspired and bring home made appetizers!

We "cook big" so that guests can all take home the makings of a "turkey lurky" dinner, complete with pie, gravy, etc. My sister and I have been co-cooking Thanksgiving dinner for nearly 30 years now. Lots of work, but also lots of satisfaction.

I hope that all of you have happy rituals for the holiday. If you are alone, please go out into the world, to a senior center or a shelter, to share with others.

Hubby cannot eat meat or wheat this year, so what he'll have for Tday dinner I haven't yet figured out! It's just us and our 17 yr. old daughter as our other kids are with their inlaw families this year. But, we're taking dinner to an 87 yr. old lady and her mentally challenged son and will find a neighbor who needs leaf raking services so we feel useful today.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Roast chickens, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole from scratch with real french green beans, sweet potatoes with cranberries and maple syrup, dressing, corn pudding, cranberry orange relish, cranberry champagne jelly, herb rolls and pumpkin pie. Since it's 60 degrees and sunny I will also be smoking a turkey breast that's been in a cranberry/pomegranate juice brine since yesterday. I should open a freakin' restaurantgrinning smiley

Happy Turkey Day everyone!!!!!!

LisaSTL...you go girl!!! Going to friends, so don't know anything more than having turkey, since her ex is a chief and will be making turkey, will be good. Making my own small one tomorrow (Friday), so, my favorite food in the world turkey sandwichs will prevail.
