was given wrong town for maritz gas station...

so they put the right address, but wrong town in their listing. i assigned the shop yesterday, and found a few other little jobs to do in the town to make it worth it. if it was my first stop of the day, i'd have google mapped it, and would've figured out the problem then, but it wasn't, so it wasn't until i was in the town(45 minutes from my home), googling the place, that i realized it didn't exist. the right location was another 40 minute drive further. i called them, explaining the issue, and asking if i could receive an extra $20, as their error was going to cost me about an hour and a half extra time on the road.. the supervisor was completely not understanding, and refused the bonus. she told me that they had already left a note with the client on the address of the location, and only the client could change it. i don't see how in the world maritz could just leave an incorrect listing on the board, knowing it's going to send people to the wrong place, that's not showing any care towards shoppers. i do have to admit this though, i have actually been to the location twice. once in 2015, once in 2016. i must've picked up on the error in the past, but didn't remember this time. i mean, i go to a million locations, and am not a robot, how am i supposed to remember all of them? this particular town is huge, and has a handful of blue stations, so the listing didn't seem out of the ordinary to me. do you guys think an extra incentive would be the right thing to do here, or no?

Any chance this was north of Boston? I cancelled a job with them twice days ago because of this before I realized that I also corrected them on the address on this location last winter. Guess it didn’t stick.

Also, you’re going to need to edit out the client name from your post. Rulez

I still fall for that occasionally, and kick myself each time. As someone who's also gone to a million locations, I should know better. (And so should you, lol). I do sympathize - 80 minutes driving really is a big deal - but these types of address snafus are not uncommon in this business. I just write off the loss, and hope I can make it up later when they have to bonus more because other shoppers cancel. An extra incentive might be the right thing to do, but it's unlikely to happen, in my experience..
It happens. It seems to me that some locations are based on zip rather than town. They will assign it to the nearest town in the zip code it is in, instead of the town it is actually closest to. I've taken one that is too far away for less than I should multiple times now, because of the town they say it's in (but it's not.)
I wouldn't beat my head against a wall waiting on a bonus. i typically suck it up and get a good bonus when I can, and for sure that time will come. When I figure the money I make against one intractable supervisor, well, the money wins every time.
Not to be nasty, but this problem happens and its up to you to have made a comment in the past that the address is not correct. I only say this since you assert you have done this shop in the past. If you had not, I agree that it would be easier to just do it and add the comment that the shop's address was not correct. Asking for a bonus is not going to help at all. That just makes you look unprofessional.
For me, when doing new shops, I always Google the address to make certain of the site's location. It also can show you pump amounts, etc.
Also, when doing shops that you have done previously, you should keep a file on your computer, under Maritz, then the brand, then the town, and finally the address. This is helpful for reminding yourself of the peculiarities of the site, the amount of pumps and perhaps, any previous problem areas that were found.

BTW, I have done shops that have different addresses, depending upon the highway, freeway, etc. I've commented in the past that the address has different street and highway names or a general address for the overall site, but a specific address for the site itself. When its still listed as is and I've commented in the past, I let it go and just await the editor's request for an explanation of the shop address differences. My explanation has always been accepted.
It appears there is an ICA and Forum violation in this thread with MSP and client listed.
sorry for name dropping the client at the end... it was late, and i was fried. what really annoys me is that maritz was aware of the problem beforehand(i probably alerted them to it, as did others), but they never bothered to change it to the right town. i don't see how that's ok under any circumstance. telling me they're "not allowed to change it" doesn't help when i've already made the trip,

you say i was being unprofessional, but they're the ones who knowingly kept the wrong address in their database. that's professional? i don't see how that isn't a lot worse than me calling them up, and asking for an additional $20(it's 2017, that's a pizza) for making me drive an extra hour and a half. i do like reading people's opinions, anyway, so thanks for giving yours.
I had a similar communication issue (based on closure not incorrect address) with another MSC and a appliance rental company. So the first month, I visited the location and reported as closed indefinately. I received a half price fee, which wasn't too shabby at this was a large bonus and I had another bog bonus job in that same town. The second month, I assigned the location as a web inquiry. Well, knowing the location was closed the week before and I reported it to the MSC, I was curious how the web inquiry would go. Of course, with the web inquiry I was defaulted to another location nearby. I emailed help desk to let them know. They wrote back saying something to the effect of "we see you reported this shop as closed last month so we will remove this shop from your list." So I am thinkiing, "Well good...its fixed." In a few days I got an email from their automated scheduler offering me a bonus on the store visit like I had done the first month. I responded to the email in caps THIS STORE IS CLOSED INDEFINITELY. Then I get a magical shop for ths company on my list of completely shops... I am curious how much I am getting paid for basically giving this information to them. We will find out in about a week hehe. Its like, is this company so big that they cannot ccorrect these things first time hehe.

Based on my experience: Maritz is difficult to work with or for. Their schedulers only care about assigning jobs, they do not listen to shoppers concerns.

There are two gas shops I have done for Maritz that I have done MULTIPLE times where the address assigned does not match the actual address of the station. In one case, the owner has listed their home address as the business address EVEN ON THE RECEIPT. In the other the owner's home address is the address on the assignment, but the location of the store is five miles away (closer, yay!) and the receipt has the actual site address. In both cases I've reported it every time it happens to Maritz and yet they never make changes. The joke is I did the second shop twice before realizing the address for the assignment was wrong. That's because these stations are in a rural area and I'm forced to know where every gas station is. So the first time it was assigned I saw the town and knew exactly where it was. I don't know why I googled it the third time and went off course, but I back tracked and did it just like the other two times.
There is one client (at least) that has no clue where their stations are, whether they're open or closed or what the hours are, even on their own website.
Here in the 4 corners area this happens all the time with the first shop for the towns are not found on MapQuest or Google Maps so I have to get the right name of the Station and then check the directions again. It is hard to get anything more from Maritz CX or another company once it has been assigned.
They also will NOT NOT NOT pay for a closed location even with a phone call before that someone did answer. I know some say they have but I am still waiting years past.
They always pay me for closed locations.

I wouldn't go the extra miles without the extra pay. Maritz made the mistake (knowingly) so they have to deal with the consequences. They can only abuse us if we allow it.
I got my payment for a bonused shop (because it was so far away). I didn't have to call before hand. Got there and not only was it closed, the realtor's sign was in the window. Took my four pictures and submitted it got my money. Interestingly enough, it has reopened as a different brand, and I can shop it again...if the company ever decides to bonus it.

Well, okay then. Did you do the shop?

I don't think I would have.

Since you did call and informed them of the wrong address and then asked for a bonus - subsequently denied. If it was that costly to you, would not the more prudent thing to do is ask that it be removed from your assignment list? I've done that before without nary a problem.
IMO, and, I suppose it is hindsight, yet, a learning experience, I would not even have called them about a wrong address and asked for a bonus. I would not have performed the shop. I've done that in the past. I've taken a photo of the cross streets or something as instructed to back up the claim of the incorrect address. Then filed the report as the station was not at the address given.

Bottomline, IMO, if you have a problem working with this MSC, then don't. I have certain MSCs that I've felt have shortchanged me, asked for too much for too little or have just been mistreated (IMO) by them. I don't work with them (even though they Email, text me, and call asking for me to perform their shops).

I happen to like this MSC and appreciate the tools they give the shopper to make the job easier.

That's just my opinion though. No criticism of your methods.

If I went to a location and it wasn't there, I'd Google Maps it to be sure. If another town or address showed up, I'd likely cancel the shop. I don't think it would be invalid to call or email a client/company and tell them after using their system and an additional atlas/map, it appears the address is incorrect and you are unable to perform a shop at another address. It's not unreasonable at all to ask to be removed from a shop when there was a clerical error, be it payment, address, or info.

agreed. i always map out address ahead of time for all shops. if somthing comes up funky, i go to the clients website or do other searches to get right info. maritz is =useless in trying to correct these problems.

once ive been to location w/wrong address i make comment in excel so i have reminder if i want to take it again.
