Market Force - Lo Ball Payment

They have a new scheduler in Georgia, or one that has never called me before. She called yesterday, her name starts with a V and ends with an i, she almost experienced my wrath. I am accommodating her phone call, while stocking 12 packs of Bounty and 100 oz Tide and she has one shop, a two hour drive for $18 plus a sandwich meal. She says they distinguish between paying for a mileage bonus but not time. I had explained that I dont have any other shops there so it would be the same I got last time for all shops there. She told me to call her back when Im ready to talk about it after she said I was talking too fast and it must be because I am used to the overseas schedulers. Uh, NO, you are slow, get to the point, yes you will accept my offer, counter offer or get off my phone line!

The only shops I ever see from them are grocery stores, wireless carriers and the fast food restaurant with the huge amount of fries, every once in a while I see a fast food Chinese, Do they fo other shops in other areas?

I've seen smartphone, fast food and gas station shops here.
And the Store that was the "it" store before wallyworld, a French (ish) restaurant, tax shops (two different types), Jewelry stores, book stores, 3 different types of gas station assignments, hardware stores, furniture (temporary) shops.

I wonder why they don't have automobile interactions, banks, hotels, credit cards, etc. I'm actually really surprised that Maritz has that bank and Market Force does not. If Market Force had it they wouldn't have to farm it out and I could go to bonusland each and every month with those!
The only non-bonused shop I'll do for them is an occasional burger shop--when I either haven't taken anything from them in awhile or I'm craving the burger. Otherwise, I use the "offer" function or wait till a scheduler calls me.

I actually like working for them and do those occasional base-fee shops so they won't deactivate me. But I don't know if that's really the case or good reasoning on my part. I figure it can't hurt....

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.
My bday came and went with no bonus offer this year. But when i used to get them they were $2. Of course there were never many shops mid month and all were at fees of $3-4 for base pay shops a month away.
Jas a route through LA ,as I am sure you know, would probably take me as much time driving as a 300 mile route in the boonies! At least though I can sleep in my own bed. Sometimes I average 8 mph on the streets of LA. Throw in 10 min or more to find parking each time and 8-10 shops could take all day and a lot of stress on the roads.
Actually, she isn't new, I have her phone number saved in my phone book and have been negotiating with her for about six years off and on. When I need help negotiating bonuses when there are no "make me an offer" deals, she often can help me out. She pretty much knows I am not going to even go 20 miles without some sort of decent compensation.

She was new to me, I should have mentioned. I usually get the other one that has a long drawl and I love her. She says Well, my name, I've got blank blank shops and so far it's going for. And I say, I would love to do those shops or I can do them for blank blank amount and she says Well, my name, let me put it through and see it they take it. And then she says, ok, we got it. And I say thank you, have a good day, weekend and she says you tooooooo. Pau.
Anyone completed their oil change shops? I’m not due yet so hopefully they will keep the client for a while. It appears to be much easier than the previous MSC and the reimbursement the same. Seems worth it.

I've done many oil change shops for another company. They're easy and the shop is less than a mile from me, so I've gone often.
I was curious if anyone else has had this experience. I've been MS with marketforce since february this year, just as fun on the side. I like burgers, so to get paid to eat there, why the heck not?

Then I got a call last month from a scheduler whose name starts with M. She was super friendly and talkative, and offered me an $18 shop and $25 shop for burger and wireless respectively. I went for it, I was off on president's day and it was worth it! She said to call her anytime I had one in mind and wanted to make an offer.

Since then I've tried calling her, left messages 4-5 times (over the course of a few weeks) and have never been called back. That's the only time I've even been called, and the rates on the website are just too absurdly low to be worth my time otherwise. Just wondering if anyone else talks to schedulers directly a lot?

A while ago, I called the number that I have saved in my phones to reschedule a shop for the day before. No answer. I left a voice mail. No call back. I think they only talk to you when they need something.

I was told the same thing by one the schedulers - to call him if I see any job I am interested in and so on. I did call him several times without any success and finally left a message, of which he did not return. So I tried another scheduler just for the heck of it and did manage to reach her. However, she was not very helpful in helping me with the bonus I was requesting. Therefore, IMHO, we are much better off waiting for them to call.
I used to have a scheduler whom I called. She gave me the approximate times she worked. She gave me some good tips about accepting different types of shops. She gave me a heads up that bonus-only shoppers are often let go. This was years ago, mind you. I label my MF folks in the phone: V ends in I - awesome. MF - foreign, MF Sue Stingy and so on.

So are you able to reach v-i much? I have started denying shops for insufficient fee/reimbursement and they gradually ratchet them up a dollar at a time. It's just tedious. Have asked for some website improvements to their software development team, maybe they'll do some of them!
That's so funny, because I also label my schedulers, not just MF. T and ends with an A is Da Best,Answer etc. They also tell me to call them also if there's a shop I'm looking at. However, only the guy, Jason, has ever really come through with that. He is the ultimate scheduler. He's professional yet friendly, on-point and to the point yet ends with a pleasant closing! We need to clone him.
We in NoBonusland must be subsidizing those in Bonusland. I would have a coronary if I ever saw a $60 bonus. I high-five the dog if I get $10 bonus, and I even high-five the cat if I get $0 bonus for a competitive shop. We live in a different world, don't we.

It would probably make more sense if MSC paid everyone a medium rate rather than low-ball for most and big bonuses for a few.

For the first time since I started shopping there are shops left on the job board in my area and it is just a few days away from my birthday. Maybe I will actually be able to take advantage of my birthday bonus this year! This is in a town with several hundred shops in the beginning of the month but none by mid month usually.

I didn’t get a birthday bonus email this year! sad smiley

Oh my. I guess they can no longer afford to give me $2 after paying all you people who live in bonusland (instead of lalaland where i live and get no bonuses) your hefty $40 and $60 bonuses you are always writing about. More power to you who can get those. The extra $2 does not make it but it does make my day that they even thought of me. Well a few more days and I will see if I get a bday bonus.
No one is subsidizing anyone - it is called supply and demand. The highly bonus jobs are being offered intermittently (months and even years), and are usually located in the boonies (80-100+ miles RT) where when in a pinch resulting from either flaked or lack of shoppers, the MSCs have to pony up the money in order to meet their contracted obligation. I do a fair share of the shops at the base fees if the location and the shop time fit in with whatever task(s) I have to do anyway.
This year I was not offered a birthday shop, but I did get a couple of Samatha shops for around $30 to $35 but they were in opposite directions and 80 or so miles away one way.

Noticed that some shops have dropped from$14 down to $12. What the heck. I guess I should have plucked them earlier but had to wait and see how the Thyroid surgery went. And If I would be doing any more work this month. Well, it went fine but I look like the first attempt at Dr. Frankstiens monster. Not really horse but that may change after a good long sleep.

I wonder if that is the same Jason from 8+ years ago? If he was still in my contacts, he'd be: MF Jason Da Bomb!

Glad you made it through 2Stepps! I understand about the Frankenstein-look. Join the club, I have the scar in the fold of my neck as well. Sure beats problems with the thyroid!

Yes, some shops change in fees. Probably something with their algorithms. Keep it moving and look elsewhere.

To get the big bonuses, you have to live in an area that doesn't have a lot of shoppers AND be willing to drive at least 30 miles one way.
I gad a high rating and last week. I got canned. They said i was not entitled to know the reason.

That's what it means to be an independent contractor running his own business. If you decide you don't like one of the mystery shopping companies, you can stop accepting shops with them or completely deactivate yourself, and don't have to contact them to tell them why you don't want to work with them any more. You owe them no explanation. By the same token, if any mystery shopping company decides that it does not want to work with you any more, they don't owe you any explanation. In fact, most companies don't even tell you when they don't plan to work with you any more. You just suddenly don't get emails any more, you see nothing on the job board, and they don't answer your inquiries - you may think they lost their clients and no longer have shops in your area. Market Force is one of the few that actually lets a shopper know that he is no longer going to be offered shops. And in most cases, they do not tell you why.
@huguetguy wrote:

It seems like the mf shops are all around 6 or less for a shop fee...is that the norm?

If you are talking about fast food, yes. Usually there is a small fee and a reimbursement for the food. Gas shops pay a little more, $8 plus a reimbursement for gas and a small convenience store purchase. They have a couple of dining shops that pay $8-10 plus the restaurant reimbursement. Generally, they will bonus shops near the end of the month. Near the end of the quarter or the end of the year, the bonuses are bigger. In some areas, if you are willing to drive 30 miles or so to pick up out-of-the-way, hard-to-fill shops, the bonuses can be quite large.
