New Applebee's Shops

There was one time I did a Applebess shop and she told me to be there at X time. I got their at time but it took a extra 10 mins to get my food because they were supper busy.

I get it. It might be more convenient for you to do it that way. Whenever you have a question like that, best to ask the scheduler. They might say it's okay.

If I am further away from a location and know the food will be ready before I get there if calling from my home, I just wait until I am only 10-15 minutes away and find a parking lot to sit and call to place my order. It's just a habit because there are so many other MSCs who don't want you to tell the restaurant when you want your food that I just never thought about it. I think just letting them give you the time to pickup the food leaves little room for error, though, on your part or that of the restaurant. And I also think there is a question that asks: did they quote you an actual time that the food would be ready (ex: 1 pm) or just give you a time range (10-15 minutes)? Or something to that effect.

If you do email and ask, let us know what you are told, please.
The online ordering system allows ordering hours or days ahead, but of course we can't use that for this purpose. I decided to just go ahead with the usual method today - calling and pickup when it was ready.
Thanks to some advice here, my meal was much better than the last time. I got the fiesta chicken without the goopy sauce, without the cheese, and with the tortilla strips on the side. This time the salsa and lime slice were included. I also got the small steak with garlic green beans and the mac/cheese/bacon (for the niece) and it was much better than I anticipated. They may use some kind of tenderizer on the steak, because even at medium well-done, it was tender enough to cut with the silly plastic knife.
DID ONE LAST WK, NOT CLOSE EITHER! I NEVER GOT THE RECEIPT, FORGOT, TO ASK HIM SINCE I HAD CASH AND TOLD HIM TO KEEP THE CHANGE. THE TAG ON THE BAG WON'T CUT IT.
I have my credit card receipt so am attaching that with the list from the bag. Did you have to go back for a receipt?
I forgot to get a receipt for my second Applebee's shop. Fortunately, I hadn't left the parking lot so ran back in and got it.

I think that part of the timing is the elapsed time for the payment process, making this shop invalid even with a receipt. It would have worked if you had needed change.
Cash registers are databases. They can pull your receipt a week later. I forgot a receipt at my sports bar. I called and they texted it to me.

I landed a shop for this weekend at lunch. I also get 5% cash back through my debit card.

I need to read back and see what you all ordered and liked.

Won Ton Chicken Tacos, Three Cheese Penne (minus the bruschetta topping for me), Cajun Chicken Pasta, Oriental Grilled Chicken Salad (sub vinaigrette for the Oriental dressing--it's awful). Those are my favorite items.
I really liked the Fiesta chicken without the sauce and cheese; the 6oz steak and garlic green beans; and the lime plank chicken, which is my favorite so far. I got those first two items, along with two side salads (dressing on the side), for the 2 for $ 22 shop, and was very pleased.
I'm doing my first BJ's shop next week and have never eaten there so I'm studying that menu and would love suggestions.
Monday night is half priced pizza night at BJ's...If you ever get pizza, get the Tavern Cut, as it is thinner. The deep dish is very, very thick and doesn't have enough toppings for the amount of crust. The flatbreads are all good, but not sure if those are part of the half price deal on Mondays or not.

I like their wings, fried artichokes, stuffed mushrooms, honey sriracha Brussels sprouts, and their side salads (Caesar and House). The avocado egg rolls are okay, but I don't like the fact that the avocado turns brown when the fry them. The Parmesan Encrusted chicken is delicious and it's a huge portion.

I have had the burgers dining in but I don't do burgers or sandwiches on take out shops at any location because the fries are always undercooked and lukewarm. Most of the time they do not reheat well. Can't say if that's how it is at BJ's but it's just not something I do.
Thanks for the suggestions. I happened to pick a Monday and was thinking about the Tavern Cut pizza as it is half price.
I always get the 2 for $20. I would get the Boneless Wings, Riblet Basket with String Beans, and a chicken entree.

This time, I will do all ribs! The full rack for $20, fries and broccoli.

I'm the oddball who doesn't love ribs. I love how they smell and look and then somehow it goes downhill from there smiling smiley
On Mondays I get 2 Tavern cut pizzas, 2 small salads, and bone-in wings and it comes to just under $35.

Edited to add still talking about BJ's here.

I'm another oddball. I don't like the BJ's tavern cut pizza. I love their regular crust, very thick. They used to have a whole wheat thick crust but discontinued it.....maybe I was the only one who ever ordered it. Their boneless wings are my favorite. I also like the Fiesta Lime Chicken with the sauces and the cheeses on the side smiling smiley

I also get the 2/20 smiling smiley
Maybe you are lucky in that the ones in your area actually add enough cheese and other toppings to cover the pizza. At the two in our area, they don't.

I had the BJs ribs once and didn't care for them. I am not crazy about Applebee's ribs either, but I always think ribs are better when we make them or friends and family make them at a cookout. Or, if you order them at little BBQ joints. Love Texas BBQ, but Tennessee is pretty good, too. I think it might be a sauce and seasoning thing.
Hmm...I'm thinking one tavern cut pizza (I prefer thin crust); the arugula and gold beet salad with a side of shrimp; and the chimichurri or barbacoa chicken.....would hit a bit higher than $35, I know.
Actually, I'm mostly thinking of lunch...right now. Homemade chunky chicken soup with spinach and bbq chicken and carrots and black-eyed peas and celery and mushrooms smiling smiley

That's an interesting combination. I like soup. When you say bbq chicken, you just mean chicken cooked on a grill or are you using chicken with barbecue sauce on it?
Some rotisserie chicken from Costco; some from chicken I cooked on the grill with bbq sauce. I thought I had white beans but when I didn't, I used black eyed peas instead. The chicken stock I made last winter and froze...this is the last of it. A fridge-cleaning kind of soup.
My longest wait time is 19 minutes. No greeting, no beverages, nothing for 19 minutes. I called the restaurant after 7 minutes. The response was, "Yeah, yeah, I'll tell her"

I waited 12 minutes once. I called in and the lady told me to come inside. So much for Carside...
I had the brisket quesadillas when I visited my parents in August. I have had better quesadillas at a gas station.
