FIVE GUYS IS BACK!!

I guess the dollar jump from $9 to $10 for the fee is supposed to help cover the increasing cost of the food. $15.45 won't get you a small hamburger, small fry and drink. Don't even think about cheese. I need to start bringing a piece of cheese from home.

Yeah, since we get taxed on the fee, I would much prefer they actually reimburse the full cost of our food.
In addition to the Daily Bulletin, the MSC sent a computer-generated email dated Sept 8 advising me of the general availability of Five Guys in my area. I noticed this in the second paragraph "All required purchases will be reimbursed." I haven't tried it out yet, but that's how it used to be with Arby's.

As I recall, the Five Guys fee was $6 before Covid. If $10 is the new fee, that's a 60% increase in about three years. Shoppers in my area are becoming more comfortable doing in-person shops. Here, it's no longer a given, or even likely, that the fee has to be raised much, if any.
Just got a call from the scheduler to do a shop that's out of the way for me. I usually get Samantha offers of $21, but was offered $28 this week. Told the scheduler that I'd take it for $28, but nothing less. She had to put me on hold while she waited to get permission to submit it, and supposedly finally did. But when the shop was assigned, it was only $20. So I called back and the person I spoke to said that the scheduler had made a mistake (not clear whether it was in what she asked for or in entering the amount to schedule it). Told me that I could email the help desk and/or unassign it, but she wasn't particularly clear. I ended up unassigning it, and now I don't see it to take anymore, so I suspect that even if I respond to the Samantha email, the system won't let them give it to me. Not the end of the world, since I was only going to take it to be nice to the scheduler.
Scheduler called and offered me 3 shops for the fee I wanted. I checked my email later and Samantha sent requests that were higher than the fee I got from the scheduler.

Is Samantha drunk? Got an email from "her" a few days ago for a shop offering a $22 fee. That's a bit lower than my normal price but the dates and location were in line with my plans for weekend so what the heck. Literally saw the email come into my inbox and responded immediately.

No response. OK, they must have assigned someone else. But ...

This morning Samantha emailed me again. Same location, same dates offered, fee now $29. Now we're talking. Maybe the person who got the gig flaked or something. Good for me. Again, saw it within a minute and responded immediately.

Silence again. I don't think I'm out of favor with the MSC because I've done a ton of work for them lately with no issues. And I've always gotten the assignment on Samantha offers in the past as long as I was quick to respond.

Job is still on the board at a lower rate. Anyone else run into something like this with Samantha?

I rarely get a quick response from Samantha job offers. One time I also have a very generous offer at a location near my daughter and submitted for it but never heard back. I figured maybe they were trying to get someone to do it for less and holding out on accepting my offer, even though it was at the price they had offered me.

I posted earlier, but it went to moderation (update -- it just got posted above), so here's a shorter version.

I got a call from a scheduler earlier for a location that I rarely do. I had gotten a Samantha offer of $28 for it (my usual offer is $21) today, and the scheduler offered $18. I told her I would do it for $28 and no less. She had to run it by a supervisor and eventually had to call me back to say that she was submitting it. But when I checked online, it was assigned to me for $20. So I called back and got someone else, who alternatively told me to unschedule and email the help desk. Ended up canceling the shop, and it's no longer available to take (which I think happens when you drop a shop), so I'm guessing that emailing the help desk or responding to the Samantha email won't result in my getting it. Don't really care, it was out of my way anyway. Their loss for not being honest with me.

I don't usually get quick responses from Samantha either, if by "quick" we mean "nearly instantaneous" which I sometimes get if my MAO is accepted. But 2 days? (I'm referring to the first offer which is now 2 days old.) Got to be quicker than that, Samantha.

It's dependant one someone paying attention to the inbox. I get the impression they don't.

And yeah, I've also gotten called about a shop with a lower offer on the phone than the e-mail. Seriously, how disorganized can they be?

In my experience, they will regularly offer less on the phone than what is even listed on the job board/website at the time, which is beyond frustrating. I also haven't had much luck negotiating fees on the phone for a long time, so I usually just try to wait for MAO on this MSC's shops now (although Five Guys in my area never gets above $15 given how popular they seem to be).

The phone people will never put in a request for more than you've previously been paid for that location.

As for their offering less on the phone than currently on the website, it's either incompetence or intentional deceit.
It could be a simple mistake too! I had an offer of $30 but listed $20. I texted back to the scheduler and she fixed it right away and apologized. I am in Canada and my scheduler in Atlanta. She is great.
They will go lower. My scheduler called me on Friday to fill 3 shops this weekend. He asked if I could do them for $20. Nope, $25 each.

I got a call tonight from them, amusingly for the same shop they had assigned at $20 even though I had asked for and thought that we had an agreement for $28 and subsequently dropped (and which I still do not see on the website after dropping it). She offered $20 again, and I said no, and then hung up as she was saying something else. She called me back to say that she had another shop and offered me the shop at my local FG (she should have offered that one first), I must have just gone back into rotation for it because I had not seen it previously, and it was this week's lunch shop. She was able to give me $25 for that one because that's my usual price for it (but distance-wise much closer than the other shop). I still have one more AMEX $3/15 offer to complete, so I am happy to get the shop.

They’ll always offer lower. But will have a much higher chance to meet your last fee, which is why it’s very important to keep a close tracking on your highest fees paid by location in your back pocket.

As for increasing the fee, I found it arguable to bump it $1-2 compared to my previous highest by luck over the phone.

Does the MSC reimburse tolls for driving into the delivery zone for a FG delivery shop?!
No. If you want more money, you must wait until it is bonused to the level you want. Also, the reimbursement amount for delivery food is lower than for food purchased as part of a traditional shop, and the prices are generally higher. The report for a delivery shop is very easy, I have decided that I am not going to lose money in order to eat food that is at best lukewarm when it is delivered to me.

That's awesome!

With my regular scheduler, he rotates the same locations. It was surprising when he initially offered the lower fee.

Scheduler called while I was working my day job. I was distracted so I only got one shop for this weekend. Normally, I get three. Hopefully, there will be some flakes nearby!

How often can I complete these shops at same location? Could I complete a delivery today and dine-in tomorrow?

Yes, that would work. The delivery shop does not take you out of rotation for the in-person (although it used to). They won't schedule the in-person and delivery shop for the same location on the same day, even if a different person is doing them.

Interesting questions. I don't believe so, as Tolls and Parking is meant for YOU to get to the shop location for on-site visits.

It's now almost $18 for a burger, fries, and a drink. I do not understand how they stay in business.
I ended up taking a $22 Samantha offer for Monday at a location I get $25 or sometimes more for, as it's a distance for me. The shop wasn't on MAO yet, but I'd scheduled two shops the same day near that location. I didn't want to hang around waiting for it to either go to MAO at $25 or for another Samantha offer (they usually finally get up to $29 for that location).

But the fee more than covers my gas cost, so.... But I hope I haven't jeopardized my future fees at that location! They have great food and service there.

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.

Has anyone else noticed that the shake shops seem to be gone? The delivery shops haven't had one recently, and the in-restaurant shops for the next month (for the locations I'm in rotation for) don't have anything other than $15.45 reimbursement.
They just showed up again in the last day or two here.

OK, I found one after searching a few different areas. I did notice that some idiot took this coming week's lunch shop already, presumably for base pay (a location where I always get $25), maybe it had a shake. But the delivery shops have not had shakes for a few months now.

It’s about that for Shake Shack too?

They stay in business because there’s still a demand for it for those prices.
