Market Force - Lo Ball Payment

@kimmysue wrote:

What does it mean to be deactivated? Do they tell you they are doing it, or do you just realize one day that you no longer get shops from them? If you are deactivated, do they pay you for any jobs you have completed and not yet been paid for?

I have never been deactivated by them, but I know shoppers who were. They DO pay you for any completed, approved shops after you are deactivated. Sometimes the shopper gets an email saying that MF will no longer be offering them shops. The shopper is still able to log in, they just cannot access the search area and search for shops. They can still see their completed jobs and their past payments. Sometimes, there is no email notification, but when the shopper logs in the just cannot get to the search area. If the shopper sends an email question to the Help Desk, they reply and tell the shopper that MF will not be able to offer them future shops. Sometimes the deactivation is an error, and the shopper is reactivated after sending a Help Desk question.

You can deactivate your own account. I did that with 2 MSC. Both I did only a few shops for. The last one because I got fed up with the requirements of the shop. They only had one kind of shop in my area, a pizza shop.

Note to others:
They actually have (in his specific area): Comedy Club with drinks, grocery stores, upscale dining, casual dining, ice cream store, bowling, movie theaters, smoothies, 4 upscale hotels, and pizza.

So, deactivating is not usually a smart thing to do. You don't have to do every type of shop. You just have to do every type of shop that you do correctly and well.

I had been with them for a couple of years. The ONLY shops offered in my area (within 20 miles) has been a pizza shop and a hot dog shop. They don't even offer the hot dog shop anymore. DE activing my account was a good thing.

First of all, you can toggle my posts.
Second of all, we all know that you are wrong. I just did a search based on your area.
How would you know my area? So what if someone toggles another person's post. That's what the toggle is for. To toggle. That's why it's called a "toggle"

You told everyone here where you live.
Instead of, you mentioned where you live on this forum, it's You told everyone here where you live. That's the stank that had me wanting to pack my msf bag and fly to facebookie

OK...where do I live?

Feel free to go back and remove it from your old post. I am not going to make it easy for everyone.

Than you don't know where I live. As I've said many times. A Closer Look has just one shop in my area and that is for one pizza place. Since I rarely did the shop, it was no problem to de-activate the account.
Amazing that in this industry that you go into beg mode to do work. Only in mystery shopping do we kow tow to a scheduler, a stranger. It is like the first or second date that never calls back. Sooooo. Bad. Deplorable, as a matter of fact!

I’m just starting out. Any advice you could share with me?

Time your shops. I do cell phone shops when the stores open. If you go in the afternoon there is usually a wait. Do fast food or restaurant shops before or just after lunch or dinner, when they slow down. Group your shops together.

I never kow tow or beg. If I don't like a job I will not do it.
I am now doing caregiving for seniors. Doing a lot less mystery shopping. Most shops are not worth it. I do a lot of eating out. Those shops are worth doing and they lower my food bill.
I like audits. Its easy work, pay is higher and its more like merchandaising which I love.
Karen, I thought that working for a couple of years would open up new, better paying shops, too, I am at the 2 year mark and nothing has changed. Same boring, list. Same rates.
With MarketForce, I wait until shops go into "Make an Offer" status or until they call me. I'll occasionally do a burger shop at base, but only if it's just me eating or when I get a powerful craving for the place (which does happen!). I find that when bonused by them or when my offers are accepted, the work and the pay are pretty commensurate. When not, I just don't take them (their audits have yet to get up to where I'd do one, at least at what they pay here). The work is profitable for me, but wouldn't be if I took the jobs at base rate. Their guidelines are pretty much crystal clear (unlike those of many MSCs), they're fair (I've never had a report rejected), and when I've had to write to their help desk to give them a heads-up about something in my shop that I think might be problematic, they always respond. When we can't come to a meeting of the minds on a shop fee, there are no hard feelings on either end. I know some people complain about them, but I enjoy working for them.

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.

I can't speak to your situation, but my options are always increasing.... I've been at this about two years, too. Here is what has helped me:
* Getting into video shopping.
* When creating a route, asking a scheduler if they know of another scheduler trying to get some shops done in that area.
* Signing up for companies mentioned on this forum that sound interesting.
* Signing up for LOTS of companies.
* Always turning in quality work on time.
* Always being professional in my interactions with MSC's.
* Being willing to travel a little - if the finances are right.
* Signing up for a couple of "groups" through which I learn about more companies.
* Learning the patterns for when MSC's tend to bonus their shops and at what rate shops tend to be scooped up by other shoppers.

I work full time, so I take weeks off to shop sometimes. However, in the third month I was shopping, I earned $1,000. Now, I can earn over $3,000 if I push myself.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
Just happened to me as well. Account deactivated and I was the only shopper in my location for them. Oh well I am looking on to better things.

Moderator Note:

Post removed as it breached the Forum guideline which states, "Do not reveal the clients of mystery shopping companies". Additionally, it is usually an ICA violation to name both the MSC and client.

Market Force doesn't drop people for no reason. They don't drop people because they did nothing wrong either. We may not be able to come to terms with what we did wrong or how they keep score, but it's not for nothing. I never want to loose MF so I make sure to be absolutely perfect and I change my appearance and attitude and story when completing the same locations year after year. I never tell anyone that I mystery shop and that's also why I deeply disguise myself, as much as I can, when I do their audits and keep them very straight-forward with no personal input whatsoever. I park my car down the street also. MF is not a company that I want to loose.
And I carry a gun also. Don't bother badgering my techniques. I make too much money doing this than to be concerned with how serious, or not serious, that other people take my techniques.
