Marketforce payment

Yeah, Honny, I got a DD in my bank this morning for 2 June grocery shops...but NOTHING for May yet!! I, too, cancelled my 3 July shops with MF yesterday, and told them why. Won't be doing any more shops for them till this is all cleared up!!

You are so very, very correct.

Fortunately, when their payments began stuttering about 6 months ago (yes, stuttering), I branched out. Now instead of 80%-90% of my shopping income, they are less than 50%.

But I still live paycheck to paycheck, and the $800 they owe me is a significant amount of money to me.

Not paying vendors (which is US) is a big red flag.

Before sharing my opinion, I was fired by Market Force in 2010. No reason was ever given nor was any required.

In my 16+ years in this business, every MSC I recall that folded did so after experiencing non-payment to contractors. The story was always the same: Disbursement problems they were working on solving. Could this be an exception? It certainly could and hopefully will.
if you can, try some of the task like apps like Field Agent, they pay by Tuesday about 2:30am via Interac or even shiftsmart etc or you could do a tradition hustle looking for odd jobs, sorry that this happened to you. I work so many companies, I need the MF money but I have rent without it thankfully.

They are the most unreliable financially these days, I'm definitely not going to shopping with them as often if at all, as someone who mostly shops this is disturbing.
I bet if all their shoppers cancelled their shops they would FIND the money today!!! Just
CAG, according to some of the schedulers I've spoken to recently, many shoppers have cancelled many shops.
I had a call from them last night to do 2 shops. She haggled the price on one shop, and I ultimately didn't get it. I feel that they are planning on paying, otherwise they would just allow you the fee you demand.
I received $27 deposited yesterday. All but two of my May shops are missing, and the $27 does not represent to the two shops showing. I honestly cant reconcile how they picked $27 to pay. Its obviously a mess over there. I will need an itemized statement to feel comfortable after they figure this out. It is the least they should do to restore our trust.
I got several calls yesterday with offers but ultimately I did not take them because they were quite far. Now if I was sure that everything was ok, I would have taken them, but I am playing it safe.
Managment is investigating what was suppose to come out of the meeting with Help Desk. As much as they are investigating, it will probably be a week before you know, lol.

I've been emailing them frequently. You know you can also google MarketForce Executive Emails and send emails to their corporate office. I did.

Would you be so kind as to share those executive emails here?? I have Googled but am always brought back to the Help Desk. I would love a couple of executive emails!! I'm sure quite a few others here would, too!

Carol - have you tried this? It should at least tell you what the $27 covers.

On the MF website home page click on your Shopper ID in the upper right hand corner. Then click on My Account. Click on Payment Details and then click on Payment History. Finally click on the total amount shown for 6/24, or any other date shown, and you will see a line by line recap of each shop paid with the fee and reimbursement for each.
I got paid today 60 bucks instead of the 400 bucks I was owed. I feel like a fool since I smelled a rat 3 or 4 months ago. Right now I would say I have a 50/50 chance at best of this working out. Add on the 300 they owe me for June and it looks like I might of just got me a $700 hard lesson.
Todays shopper message:

'We wanted to update you regarding your shopper fees and reimbursements from May. We have made progress on the issue that delayed payments, and some of you will begin seeing your payments as soon as Tuesday. We continue to work on this issue, and expect to continue our progress in the coming days. We will keep you updated. Thank you for your understanding.'

So has anyone seen their payments for May yet? How many of you are understanding of their problem? Since the message states, 'some of you,' do you think that is just another, blah, blah from them?

I'm not sure which issue I feel the strongest about. The fact that MF is being shady about whatever this issue is, or the fact that there are active shoppers who don't know that we are "independent contractors" and think that the Labor Department can do anything about this. Both are concerning.

*Edited to help this comment make sense. Apparently my frustrations are causing a lack of focus too!
Totally agree with you. How can they not know they are independent contractors if they read anything they agree to.
I gave the situation some thought today after my earlier post made it clear to myself what my concerns were. I may be a total idiot but I am taking some cancelled shops at good fees. I will have lost very little if they don't pay and gained quite a lot of they do.

Fortunately I started looking for other shops many months ago so MF is a very small part (tiny, in fact) of my typical shopping income most months.

Same here. I received one payment today for 14.12. It does not represent any shop I've done for the month of May.
I received the following email from the Help Desk just a short time ago....from the second line (I have added emphasis below), the inference seems to be that apparently they ARE getting cancellations because of this....
==========================================================
The payment you received was for approved shops you completed in early June. The May shop payments are being processed and should be out this week.

We apologize for the confusion and for the delay in the correct payments being made. We completely understand if you need to cancel assignments due to this issue with the May payments.
==========================================================

That email must be going out to quite a few shoppers, because, as I mentioned a few posts above, I already HAVE CANCELLED my July shops until this is all cleared up! I truly hope they make good on all of this!

Really interesting that they are paying for some of the June shops, but none of May yet. Also interesting that earlier emails from the Help Desk stated that the payments received by some were not for shops completed in June. One would tend to think they would get the story straight before sending the email. I am guessing that they are hoping that if a shopper is receiving a partial payment that the shopper will complete more shops for them while still waiting to get their May payment.

No payments at all for May 2019 which should have been last week on approximately June 21, 2019. I have MF shops starting again for tomorrow, but I am either canceling or rescheduling until the assignment fees and expenses have been paid for May.

NEW UPDATE - Shopper Payments

May Shop Fees & Reimbursements

You will begin seeing Direct Deposits for the May shop fees and reimbursements in your accounts starting Wednesday, June 26, and continuing Thursday, June 27, depending on your bank processing times.

Thank you for your patience while we worked through this matter. We do apologize for the delay.

Their messages have been mixed so I will believe it when the money is in the bank.

Same here. Paid for two shops in June, no payment for four that were completed in May.

Ok, so, first of all, I want to say I have been doing shops for them for about 2 years now. When I first started payments normally came in between the 10-13th of the month. Then my payments have came later and later during the month. This is the first month that the 25th has come and gone and still no payment. I think Markerforce has too many contracts to just go belly up. However, their financial management for the last year basically, excuse my french su--ks. Other companies that do the volume that MF does pay twice a month on a regular schedule. Janice of MCX does a fabulous job and always helps me with my invoices and I always get paid on the 15th and the last day of the month. TS pays on the 6th and the 21st like clockwork. Both of these companies adjust accordingly for weekends and holidays and send notices when something deviates from expectations.
The fact that several of you have received some money for June and none for May tells me that something that embarrasses them happened with the May accounting. First, they are keeping the issue confidential, this implies that it embarrasses them. Secondly, the fact that they paid early for some June shop and not for May tells me that something happened to May's payment. There are several possibilities as I see it. One, there could have been some sort of data disruption that is causing everyone to have to go back and manually recompute the May payroll. This can be from a data loss or a computer glitch. This does not imply that the company is folding, but the issue only involves May's payroll. Therefore it's easier to pay for a few June shops while they tried to put records back together to figure out exactly what is owed each individual for May. The second possibility is much scarier, and I sincerely hope this is not what happened. That possibility is that someone put a virus into their computer system and had all the direct deposits rerouted to an offshore account or an executive embezzled the funds thus deviating the month's payroll to another account. Again, I hope nothing as financially devasting as that happened as it could financially affect the company as a whole.
I think personally that this company needs to update its payroll policy and procedures. They need to come up with a set date for everyone's checks to be deposited and no matter when that individual's payroll was done being processed it does not go into their account until everyone's is done being processed and on a set date. For example, Alta360 pays everybody on the last day of the month, regardless of when they are done completing their payroll. This would prevent the HelpDesk from being bombarded every month would give everyone stability. Let's face it that's all we want stability and dependability.
Unfortunately, if you have a tenant renting your property and at first their rent comes on time every month, then gradually later and later this is a very bad sign and almost always ends in eviction.

I have never had to pay a late payment unless it was10 days then it was just a one time payment.

If I get a chance to get off this scary Ferris Wheel ride alive this time I am going to get off it. I cancelled all the shops I had for the rest of the month and up to the 11th of July. If I actually get paid the 400 they owe me for May in the next couple of days I will count myself fortunate. I will the wait until the 11 of July and reschedule all those July shops as far out as I can. If it gets to the date the shops are due and I have not been paid for June yet then I will begin to cancel them. If they pay before July 20th then I will finish the July shops. If I get out of this with my 700 bucks I will thank the gods for giving me a second chance and take a nice long 6 month vacation from this company until hopefully their payment issues have blown over.
It’s unfortunate that this is happening with Marketforce. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for now. I work in accounting and understand that if they lost an internal accountant OR switched to a new accounting firm, these glitches can happen... so for now, I’ll put the blame of their accountant.
@myst4au I completely agree, I just don't want people to have a coronary event because MF is being screwy. I'm sure if I had more money tied up, I'd be more upset as well, but it's just a few days into this (for now). If it goes on, absolutely I'd start to panic. For now, though, it's just speculation after speculation in this thread as well as the others.

If this episode ends like I think it will, we'll all be happily shopping crappy FF shops next month lol. One thing it should remind us, though, is that in MS and in all aspects of money, don't put all your eggs in one basket.
