New Applebee's Shops

Is the 405 ever bearable?

I believe it's fairly new, there's a cute area in Chatsworth near the Topanga mall...the end of San Fernando valley. They are all in odd towns, but next door is The Habit, Stone Fire Gill and a couple thai places. Freeway was unbearable at 2:40.....won't do it again. Calories in the fried won ton...OMG.....

I didn't have to take the 405, this wasn't in the city, but in the subs....I took my freeway (5) to the 118 which is easy, but coming home on the 5, construction closed down 2 lanes. I'm going to the city tomorrow to Melrose, but taking Coldwater Water canyon into Beverly Hills, then over to Melrose...parking should be fun, but love this Parisian store and will play around, so much fun for me. The purse I have to look at is $1700.00, someone want to get it for me...just askin...

Yes, I take it almost every week. 90% of the time, I am very lucky.
I did an Applebee's shop on Tuesday. This was a 7pm or later shop at the location 7 miles away. As I'm driving there, I call to place my order (about 7:30). I ordered the Cedar Plank Lemon Chicken, Caprese Mozzarella Chicken, and the boneless wings. This was the 2 for $20. To my surprise, the entrees were not available on the 2 for $20. I asked him what was available, and ordered the Fiesta Lime Chicken and the Sirloin Stir Fry.

It turns out, I had been looking at the wrong menu. The Applebee's close to home is a different franchise altogether!

I'm doing a couple jobs in Brentwood and Santa Monica tomorrow (405) fingers crossed, not going at rush hour.

HonnyBrown. When I did my shop a few weeks ago I got the Fiesta Lime Chicken it was good.

In fact my wife took me out to eat last week and we went to Applebees and I got tbe Fiesta Lime Chicken and it was good.

Irene. Good luck on your shop
FYI: When I did my shop a couple weeks ago the server said that Applebee’s was in the process of changing their menu items.

OH GOOD, IT'S A LITTLE OLD.

I SOO MISS THEIR CHICKEN WITH DEMI GLACE...
I think I got that because you said it was good. Either you or JAS. I had to try it. The shop was Tuesday, and I haven't tried it yet.

No I hadn't tried the Fiesta Lime Chicken, I was a huge fan of the Oriental Chicken Salad and the Chicken Won Ton tacos. I don't care if they have too many calories, they are soooo good. But I think I will have to try the Fiesta Lime Chicken now too. Thanks. And looking forward to new menu items, hurrah!
I'm looking forward to the new menu as well!

Thanks for the recommendations. This time, I tried the Chicken Won Ton Tacos and the Cedar Chicken - both were very good. And - on the phone, I was referred to "honey, dear and sweetie." At pickup, I was "darling."
I am to. I hope they don't take the Fiesa Lime Chicken off the 2 for 20.

When yu try it let me know
I ate it for dinner last night. I didn't know there was cheese on the chicken. That was a nice touch. It was delicious! I have to add salsa to it since the little cup didn't provide enough for the amount of rice.

The sirloin stir fry was just okay. Some of the sirloin chunks were very tough. Amazingly enough, the broccoli was crispy.

I'll order both dishes again. These shops are great ways to try out restaurant food.

Do any of you know the shop limit rules for these? I emailed the scheduler to ask, and her response still wasn’t totally clear. It says there’s a limit of 4 on the signup page, but still gives me the ability to assign more.
I haven't been keeping up with this thread for a few months, and can't believe the number of pages that has amassed! Wow! In reply to a few comments/questions which are somewhat old now (but still relevant):

Spicy1 - I have had the same issues with some folks rattling off the phone greeting faster than the speed of light (Chipotle staff would kill me with this). I've never gone back and asked them to repeat what they said as I think it may red flag me as a shopper. When it comes to the report, I put "Name not understood" in the name box and add comments in the narrative explaining what happened. I've done this with other MSCs and clients as well, and never had a problem with this method. I will try the method Kenasch uses next time, though and just say, "What was that?" to see if that helps.

I use Call Recorder from the Play Store on my phone. It is free and you can turn the recorder off and on for phone calls. It only records on speakerphone, though, and on my phone I need to keep the speakerphone volume down low to make sure I get a quality recording that I can play back.

I recall seeing somewhere in the guidelines that you should at no time order alcohol, so I think the wine for the late evening shops may be a no-go, at least for the MSC that does the Carside shops.

Thanks to Honny, JAS, Isaiah & others who have posted reviews of different items to get. I am going to have to branch out and try the Fiesta Lime and Cedar chicken dishes next!
Stay away from the burgers, that's all I have to say!

The burgers are awesome in my neck of the woods. Here, stay away from the ribs as they are teeth breakers, more like that beef jerky you left in the car a couple of weeks ago, open. I'd rather have anything at Applebee's than at BWW, except for the TVs. At least I don't have to have watch as my waitress passes me by 5 times because she's waiting on the 4 top of male drinking admirers.
Ugh. The burger I got tasted like the meat was frozen. Twice. It was that bad. BWW, I never had a bad experience there.

Speaking of which, does Burger King soak their burgers in water or something? They were awesome growing up, I had one the other day and it was awful. Had to have a pint of Ben and Jerrys to get the taste out.

i remember Rodney Allen Ripey pushing these.. smiling smiley i think ALL their burgers are cooked early then slapped onto a bun last min and served. They are gross and tasteless, like JITB's are. I am also sick of both places ripping us and their company off. . I swear Colorado is soo dense!
OK. I may have solved the riddle. I ordered the "Standard burger" and it was one of the worst things I've ever tasted. They said that they grill the standard burger with pickles and onions. It tasted like seaweed that had been rotting on the beach for a couple of weeks. omg, I won't get that flavor out for a long time. The burger, through and through, smelled very awful. I wonder if they know this. Why would anyone do that? ick.
That American Standard burger was the worst. It makes me think the rest of their burgers taste like that. I might go there tomorrow on my dime. I won't be getting a burger.

OK! I just called an Applebee's, in a different state so, well, you know, and they said that the American standard burger is the only one that they fry on the grill with pickles and onions. It is absolutely the fried pickles that made that burger smell and taste so bad, it has to be. So, that might explain that. I ordered the western burger on prior shops and it was outstanding, so good. I was super hungry though. That american standard though, omg, nasty.
Oh, I also think that maybe they use sweet pickle chips instead of dill, who does that? Sweet pickles on a burger? Nauseating.
