FIVE GUYS IS BACK!!

@MisterBill, how was the dine-in shop? Did you have to inspect the restroom? Were others dining inside?
There were a few but I didn't sit near them. They had the Freestyle machine working but you had to show a crew member your receipt, and they gave it to you. Upside was that when I asked for a refill before leaving they gave me a brand-new cup, so I took it and the original one (which still was half full) home with me. They also had pre-bagged peanuts available. Rest room was open and they did not have soap. Also, the form asks if there was hand sanitizer and I did not see any.

I did not eat most of my sandwich there and just some fries. I tried to keep my mask on most of the time and accidentally tried to eat a couple of fries with the mask on. Not recommended, especially when you have the Cajun fries. Fortunately it was a washable cloth mask and needed a cleaning anyway.

Wow, just wow. Speechless. No way for employees to wash hands after using restroom. No way for employees or customers to wash/sanitize hands to keep Covid at bay.

They should make Cajun Style face masks and sell it along with their T-Shirts smiling smiley
So I just put in a $20 offer for a curbside shop currently listed at $18 in an area where I want to go to a farmer's market tomorrow and have them pay for parking). I assume I can do a walk up curbside instead of drive up? I just called the restaurant to see how they are doing curbside, since they are in a downtown area and do not have a parking lot near the entrance, and the person spoke poor English. So I guess I will call them again tomorrow.

The FG website does say that they are doing curbside pickup at this location.

Oh, and this location has really high prices, so the veggie sandwich, little fries and small fountain drink will come out to $12.97 including sales tax. If you wanted a burger, you would go another $2.17 over the max reimbursement!

Update - got the $20.

I've made it back to the phone list for their schedulers. But they don't offer anything better than the website, and cannot even approve anything higher. Even worse, they don't even offer you the best paying shop at a location initially. They asked me about a $15 FG shop and when I said I wanted more, offered me $18 for a different one, both of which were already on the site for that price. When I asked for $20 for a curbside shop that I'd been turned down for a $25 make an offer, they had to submit it. I ended up getting the $20.

In the past, I thought they had more leeway in what they could offer. Am I wrong?

Anyone else ever run into this? has happened a few times to me.
They'll accept my offer, but not until after the time of the shop guidelines! Also, no reschedule date to even try and save the shop/accepted offer!

Had one that I applied/submitted offer for earlier last week (Thurs), then at 6pm yesterday they assigned me for the shop that ended at 3:45PM. No reschedule dates available on this particular instance.
I really don't understand them. They have *6* shops available at my local FG posted for $18 with Make an Offer, and they rejected my $20 offer that they've accepted for other locations. Maybe it's because I asked for the one with the milk shake? Stupid move. And it's a dine-in, which I'd rather not do. Maybe I'll put in for the curbside shop they have and skip the shake and having to eat in the restaurant.

They have turned down my last 6 make-an-offers on $18 shops. One of them, I only asked for $19. Declined. Not sure why they even have the make-an-offer button under those circumstances. Maybe they're hoping some sucker will bid LESS than $18?

I got approved for $20 the last two times.

Anyway, I just picked up a $60+45 reimbursement home improvement shop on Presto in a different area for tomorrow so it's just as well that I didn't get FG. Sadly, all of the FG shops in that area are taken and only $5 for future shops!

And it's BOGO wings day at BWW and there's one near the other shop, so I'll go there while I'm in the area!
Nothing they do makes sense. If it is $18 on their page and the site states to make an offer and we offer $19 & $20 to be rejected it appears that they are playing some kind of game and wasting our time. They had no intention of ever allowing an offer to go through. On top of that, why are shops costing more but the reimbursement still the same?

The maximum you've ever been paid for a particular shop, or the max on the board, whichever is higher, is the maximum the MSC will generally pay you. This has been their standard for years, and has been discussed elsewhere on the board (you can search for it). So, you are always competing against yourself.

Although it may seem nonsensical, it functions well for the MSC in that you are motivated to bid, but not so high that you raise your own maximum or will accept the posted offer.

In instances when the MSC's agents call you their agents have some authority to specially request a higher reimbursement, but it always requires approval and takes time. It's rarer still that an MSC employee will call (usually from Atlanta), and in those cases, the caller can make the decision immediately and can offer more than your own maximum. Ask for the sky when these US-based calls come since they are often for desperately needed shops and will raise your personal maximum for that particular scenario and location.

Don't be too unreasonable or you may find yourself barred from that location or terminated from their platform without any notice or warning.

And, yes, there are often newbies or others who will take a low-paying shop to fill in a route or get a subsided meal.

Also, it's very easy to be identified as the mystery shopper with these shops, so the MSC is motivated to rotate in newer faces for that reason alone. The restaurants know, or quickly learn when, to expect a shop. With every step of the transaction from parking lot to departure recorded, it is a very simple exercise for the location to match the reported details against a tape and identify the mystery shopper. Some locations tape images of suspected (or known) shoppers for staff to see. Once identified, it should be fairly obvious to you that you are being treated differently.

See below for explanation. As to re-imbursement; it should be enough to fully cover the smallest or least expensive items that qualify. If not, then you might want to consider sending an email to the shopper advocates and let them know where this happens.

On the other hand, you are getting a fee, small as it may be, and that's more than many of this and other MSCs offer on fast-food shops. A local taco shop pays $0 fee and the re-imbursement covers no more than 75 percent of the cheapest food items. They never stay on the board long and are never bonused.

So "Samantha" sent me an email today to offer $14 for a shop that's on the board for $18 plus make-an-offer. This location, I wouldn't do again for $98. I was there for the first time not long ago and all five crew members wore their masks with noses exposed. ALL FIVE! No "collared shirt" in sight either. Other issues too but ... jeez, the mask goes over the nose! SMH.

I got a bunch of $25 Samantha offers for my local FG today. I also got a $29 (!) offer for the location near where stayed with a friend when we had no power a few weeks ago and I had tried to do a shop but was never able to place the order.

Amusingly, I got a call from their schedulers today asking me to do shops for the posted price. She actually asked why I wanted more than the $15 I had done that location for in the past! I told her if she could get me $20 for the milk shake shop that I had been rejected for, or $22 for the online shop currently posted for $20, I would do it, otherwise I'd just wait and see what my weekend schedule was like. I never got an email, and then I got the $25 offers. Actually what I should have told her when she asked why I wanted more than $15 was that I am currently working for the Census and making more than that per hour and will not take off an hour to do a lunch shop for less than $20. I was about to visit a house when she called, so I told her I couldn't wait for her to check on a higher fee.

I am looking at the board now for my area and they are offer a $5 shop fee + $12.75 towards the food. The shop fee has gone way down and I always have to pay out of pocket to do the shop because a Little, Small Fries and Drink exceed the $12.75 reimbursement. It's disappointing so I guess I won't be performing these shops unless they bonus them!
Hello friends quick question. About the masks, when I did my shop, all three people working were wearing the masks wrong. Two had them over their mouths only and one had the mask on her chin with her mouth uncovered. Is the right answer, yes wearing masks and put it in the notes that the mask was not worn properly or just say outright masks not worn? Thanks!
Anyone else seeing this?....
5G jobs posted for dates 9/15 and after have a $9 starting fee, but closer current/closer dates still have the $5 starting fee? Just seems odd to me that they are paying almost double for jobs 2 weeks out. Perhaps $9 will be the new starting fee for future shops? (My area post-lock down, now starts 5G at $5)
I just looked and it's the same in my area. I picked up another while I was browsing the website. So my Sept 13 shop has a $5 fee and my Sept 19 one is a $9 fee. Weird, but no stranger than them trying not to pay a shop fee at all right upon reopening. Now I will not take any more shops at $5. In my area, the reimbursement is not enough to cover a burger, fries and drink. The hot dog, fries and drink just squeaks in at 4 cents under the reimbursement. I get the hot dog if it's just me. For meals for me and Mr. Cat, I get a 2 patty burger ($!$!) and we share it.
Monsto8, I have been checking “no” if incorrect mask wearing is observed. I then explain why in the cleanliness comments. I can’t tell you if this is what the client wants, but I can tell you multiple shops where I’ve done this have been approved.
I saw that, too, and haven't figured out the nearest date shops are less than the one that is for about the third week in Sept.
I also have noted that the last few shops I did had no soap in the restroom dispenser and I didn't see any hand sanitizer. Maybe the employees are washing and sanitizing their hands after they return from the restroom and before they put on their gloves?
Thank you for your reply NinS. I was not sure because I did not want to imply that they did not have a mask at all.

The hand sanitizer is usually on the wall, sometimes by the register sometimes by the door. It’s white and easy to miss. None of the shops I’ve done had restroom access for customers. I hope there are restrooms in the back for employees.

Wait them out. They always start at $5 in my high-population, high shopper area (sometimes even $0 grrrr) but eventually they have to get more real, people just aren't biting at those ridiculous fees. I just cherry-picked a $20 shop for Sunday. Good things come to those who wait. smiling smiley

There are now 11 shops available at my local FG. They foolishly turned down my offer last week of $20 for the dine-in shake shop that was listed at $18 and is now on the board at that same $20. Now I am waiting to get my Samantha $25 approved for the online non-shake shop I preferred, anyway. I guess those are not assigned automatically?

Update: got the online shop for $25. I guess this means I'll ask this price for future shops at this location.

Last weekend I also got a flurry of really high Samantha offers - one was double what I had last gotten for the location. Today she’s back to her stingy offers, one of which was a third of what I always do the location for.

I didn't get any offers today but I did respond to one from last week saying that I could do a different shop at the location they had emailed me about if they gave me the same $29. Did not hear back.

The previous set of emails last week offered $10 for shops that were already $18-20 on their website. Then they offered $25 so I took one.

Update -- I did get the offers after posting this, and they were all around $!4.

They have FINALLY started putting the type of shop in the page where you see the list of available shops, like "Who wants a burger? Online Order!". I see online and curbside. I wonder if this will make those shops go faster since people were avoiding all shops because they didn't want to dine in?

Good news for me is that the delivery shop for my location is showing up even though I just did an online shop there yesterday. So no rotation on that. Only at $10 now. It did not get to $20 last month so maybe I'll take it at $15 this tie.

I did a call in to go order shop for the 31st. When I called to place the order I was told the location was closed. I suspect it's the COVID thing causing the closure. Crew member hung up before I could ask. A few weeks ago I went by on my own dime to get a curbside pickup and there were a lot of people going in the store without masks. Guess it finally caught up with them.
The questions about the soda fountain and the condiment station are for now being skipped, which is good for a location tonight which had every style of Coke and Sprite missing from the fountain.
So the shops for the next couple days that were originally posted for 5 and now are being offered for 9. I got a call a while ago where they offered me to do a location and right off the bat said the shop paid 16 and I went ahead and took it. It has to be done tomorrow. Right after I hung up I had another call from the same scheduler and she offered me the one that I usually do that is 65 miles one-way. She right off the bat offered it to me for the fee that I always ask for and get. I took that one, too and it has to be done Sunday. I probably could have gotten a couple dollars more for each of them but I would rather have them call me every mo. and get the shop for what I usually ask for then take a risk of not being called.
I got a call asking me to do the location that I had offered to do via Samantha on Tuesday but was ignored. I'm rarely in that area so it was a limited time offer, and they missed it.
