Chipotle Shops

Dare, that's awesome customer service, but how will that work for the shop?

On my shop tonight I was told the wait for fajita mix was 3-4 minutes...I ended up waiting 11 minutes. The cashier comped my whole meal smiling smiley

I hope you got more than a kids meal or one taco and kids chips. Did you take a picture of the food or did you still get a receipt showing it was comped?
I had something similar happen a couple months back. Not sure if it was the fajita mix but it was definitely something I had to wait several minutes for. I didn't get comped, and yes it was on a shop and not just a regular Chipotle visit.
I ordered a salad, kids chip and drink. All comped. I did not ask for a receipt, because that would have been a tip-off that I was a shopper. I took a time-stamped photo of my food (discreetly) and uploaded it in the receipt part of the report.
Dare, tell us if the pic was accepted for the shop, please. I'm sure someone else will be in that situation!

Not me, Chris. The poor girl, I told her the KQ, and she gave me the deer in the headlights look. Then she ignored my statement and took my order as normal.

It's not odd for an adult to order kids' chips. It's a smaller portion.

Some simply refer to it as a "small bag of chips," when ordering. Often the kids bag and the regular bag are side-by-side on the shelf.
I'm thinking you are OK, Dare. I've had my food comped and had no receipt. I also didn't take a photo. I explained and my shop was accepted and I got paid. They didn't even email me and ask for more details. I've also had my shop partially comped, free chips and guac, so I had a receipt but it did not show the required chip purchase, only the bowl. Again, I told the story in the report and they didn't question it. This is not tremendously uncommon.

This month's KQ is a repeat of a previous one. I haven't done either of my shops this month, but I haven't felt outed when I previously did it. I really don't think the crew members care that much.
rofl taco, how was your report accepted without the receipt upload? Did you just use a random image?

Tortilla 1 acted like I was radioactive after I said it. But someone else on the line overheard the KQ. When I paid, that person called out to the cashier asking for my order #. The cashier responded with the time of my order rather than the order #, which gives further insight into how well this shop went smiling smiley
When I had no receipt, I wrote "comped" and the date and time on a piece of paper and photographed it. When I had the receipt with no chips, I just uploaded what I had and told the story. I could have photographed the bowl but I didn't think of it. Both times I did know the name of the crew member who comped me. The one who completely comped apologized and introduced himself and said I am comping. The time when a crew member just comped the chips and guac, it was because I was chatting with the salsa crew member and they weren't busy. It was my first visit and I asked about the guac. He told the cashier to comp the chips and guac, and when she rang up my order, she told me the guy's name and that he was comping. Both times I reported the crew member's name.
So a couple days ago my entire meal was comped. This time, today, they did not charge me for the chips. I laid the receipt next to the empty bag of chips and took a photo that I submitted in my report. I'm not worried about it.
Yeah, Chris, you were outed. That's very odd to ask for the time of the order when you are standing right there!

Since when were we not able to call the chips stale? I call them stale all the time.

That may be, but your editor certainly changes it. When I was editing for this MSC, it was explained to me that Chipotle frowns on this word because the chips are made fresh daily and are never "stale" though they may not have been prepared properly. If they are not cooked properly, they could be hard and crunchy, which generally means they were overcooked. They might be undercooked, and are likely chewy, if so. If the lime juice wasn't distributed properly, some chips might be soggy. And sometimes you might have a mixed bag with all of the above. Unfortunately, I often get a bag with several hard and crunchy chips and that's what I write.

The problem with the Chipotle logic is the belief that the chips are made daily. How do they know a location is not taking a shortcut and using the chips from the previous day? As shoppers we observe many things that management and crew members are supposed to do but don't. Wearing gloves when handling food, washing hands before putting on gloves, wearing hats and aprons are just some examples. However I can see another reason for not using the word "stale" as it may mean different things to different people. Describing the chips as hard and crunch is probably more meaningful than saying they were stale.
I have kept my leftover chips in a paper bag overnight before and tried to eat them the next day. They were beyond stale and the chips were downright inedible. The only way to repurpose them is to spread them out on a cookie sheet and bake them at a low temperature to get crisp again. I seriously doubt that they are keeping any chips to the next day.

That's interesting. What if they made chips early in the shift (late morning) and they were not served until that evening. Would they be stale after 8 hours or more?
I did my shop at 1pm yesterday. The chips were bland, hard and crunchy. "Day old" is the perfect description.

I used them as dippers for the bowl.

How long have you been doing Chipotle shops?

I have been shopping them since January. I'm not tired of them yet.

I take the bowls to work and have them for lunch Monday-Thursday. By Friday, it gets rather janky, but I could easily spread them out for 5 days.

Not sure why it matters? We all pick and chose our shops to our needs and wants.

Anyone?
I started in 2014 in the Toledo area, which has several locations. In my new area there were two, but a new location just opened up and I'll get to go there this month. Once or twice a month is enough for me.
CR, I initially thought that once a month would be enough for me as well. The area where I live is dense with Chipotles, so I can easily do do two a week. Once a week suffices for what I need though. I do change up the ingredients in my bowl.

I desperately hope this MSC would email me a shop offer already. Ive been waiting since last summer. I can't log into their website or anything. Its all so...Strange
I have put my bag of chips in my food closet and found them several days later and they were still good. I live in a fairly dry climate so that might make all the difference with how chips react to time passing. I am a chipaholic and love chips but resist from finishing the bag. I have never had more than a few bites of a bowl leftover...stretching it to 4-5 days seems an awfully small meal to me unless it is mixed with other food. More power to you if you can get away with a small lunch.

Eskimokiss, the MSC is not going to just email you a shop until you have been trained. After registering with the company, you go on a waiting list and wait to be notified of training. The company has a training class that you must take before you are given access to their website and assigned shops. I have heard that they do now have an online computer training available in some areas. Waiting for training might take years or months, depending on whether they already have enough shoppers in your area. Because shoppers who are registered with this company seem to really love them, most large urban areas have enough shoppers. If there are few shoppers in your area or the company is opening a lot of restaurants, you may get offered training soon. But you will not be offered shops and you will not be able to log into the website until you have taken the training.
Honny, the bowls have about 1100 calories. How do you stretch it into 3 or 4 meals? I usually eat half the portion at the restaurant and take the rest home for my next meal, but sometimes it becomes a between meal snack.
Chris, in an effort to maintain my weight, I control my portions. It takes a LOT of will power, but I see the results. Pants that cut off my circulation when I buttoned them are now falling off of me. That's my motivation.

I do the same with Five Guys. That one meal is spread over 3 days. The Chipotle kids' chips and guac will last until Friday. It's second nature now.

We had Cinco de Mayo at work catered by California Tortilla. Instead of two tacos, I had one. Instead of three grilled chicken strips, I had two, and loaded up on the veggies.

It takes effort, but you have to turn your eyes off.
