FIVE GUYS IS BACK!!

I guess everyone and their brother has started to come back and mystery shop in my area. Since June began I haven't done any shops for this MSC. And the Five Guys seem to be near non-existent. Used to be able to schedule them the day-of...doesn't seem to be so anymore.

Fine are you calling the schedulers?

I just got a low-ball call for a FG shop. The woman actually started out offering me $6 (yes, SIX DOLLARS) for the shop when the base fee is $9. Then she went to $14. The shop is currently listed at $15. I told her I would do a different one for $25, and she said she could not offer that. Maybe this is why I haven't heard from them recently? The guy I used to get a call from didn't BS me like this.

Oh, and I had already gotten a Samantha email for $23 for a couple of locations.

PS an hour later and that shop is still available. So she apparently has not found anyone stupid enough to take it.

I got $25 today for a lunch shop that had been hanging around, but this weekend's shops, which have shopper's choice hours, are flying off the board. Got one for $18 from a scheduler. Only 3 left on board now, usually on a Thursday there are a lot more

You'd think they would be popular, but there are still at least three of them still available (of the four locations that I can see). They're up to $18 today.
This week's MAO experience. Asked for $25 for two locations that I had gotten it for previously. Got approved for my local one, which I had gotten $28 for the last time, (but was rejected for that price last week and someone else took it for less than I wanted). Got rejected for one which I did for $23 the last couple of times. Both are shake shops and the one I got is an online order, which I'd had my eyes on and why I did not care that I did not get it last week.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the other one still available on Monday at $25. Maybe they'll even call me.

Why! Just...why.

As you stated, the job board shows $9 and on Thursdays, there is MAO!

And you'd think they would be smart enough to know not to try that BS on a shopper who always gets at least $20 for a shop. Why, indeed.
I must have been outed as a shopper. Last shop I did, two employees were standing outside smoking and saw me go back to my car to get a mask.

I was getting an error message of sorts for a couple of days when trying to look at the current pay, Now I can't see any Five Guys on my list of shops and I used to get calls for the two locations near me. The calls have stopped also.

Seems crazy that they would block you from all locations when you might have only been recognized at one. Unless they claimed that you did something that you didn't to get even (I assume you reported them in your shop report?).

So I got a $27 Samantha offer for the shop they declined my MAO of $25 on. I replied but have not heard back yet. I wish they handled these like they do the other shops they send offers on where you get a link to accept it at the higher price.

Update - finally heard back and got the shop for $27. They had even offered dates out to Tuesday, so I can do it at the same time I have another shop in the area and can avoid an extra trip.

Wow, this week's shops are up to $25 on the site. The phone people must have the weekend off.
MrBill, the schedulers called on Wednesday and wouldn't budge from $14. Samantha offered $18 on Thursday. A scheduler called on Friday and gave me what I wanted ($18) for a Saturday lunch shop. The job board on Saturday showed $25 and MAO for a location I normally do for $18. I took that for Saturday dinner.

It's really sad when the shoppers know more about the fee that they will eventually need to pay than the schedulers. So much of this is predictable, and in my case they paid me more than I asked for a few days ago.

Exactly MrBill! I log my conversations with the schedulers, emails with Samantha and MAOs. I know when to accept what for the highest fees, and what shops I can use as leverage.

I did a $30 MAO today. I was surprised at how quickly it was approved. That covers the overage for the milkshake and burger. They sure are getting pricey. They aren't THAT good, but the burgers are pretty tasty. Due to trying to lose some pandemic weight gain, I'm trying to not do any until the pay is very worthwhile.

It doesn't get any more healthy when they're paying you more money to do it. But I guess you eat there less often if you wait for your price before taking it.

The shop I got $27 for charges $4.99 plus tax for a shake, so I will be out of pocket a bit for that piece, plus I can't even get a regular fries with a veggie sandwich and stay under the limit. Not a big deal, since we are going to Texas RH for dinner afterwards (where we will get the even less healthy onion). smiling smiley FG will be lunch the following day, except for the shake.
Does anyone know how long MF keep your MAO on file before they accept or reject it?

I was out of town about 30 minutes so I tried a MAO for a shop there. I submitted it yesterday and didn't hear anything. I don't plan on being back there any time soon but can't figure out how to cancel the MAO.

Funny thing is they accepted the amount I offered for the same shop near my house.
@wrosie I'm not sure whether this might help you, but you can indirectly check on the "status" of your MAO by clicking on the job listing/post on the job board. If they've rejected your MAO, it should say something like "this make an offer has been declined" in red font near the top of the job description page. If they haven't made a decision or are still "processing/considering" your MAO, it will say something like "you have already submitted an offer for this job" in red font near the top of the page. I'm not sure how to cancel a MAO without declining the shop itself, but this way you can check if they've already declined your MAO (since they don't email about rejecting a MAO) or if they might still be considering it.

My MAOs are usually accepted or declined within a few hours. Sometimes if I MAO in the evening, they won't accept/reject it until sometime the next day, but I don't think it's ever taken more than 24 hours for a decision.

Sorry if that doesn't help much!
Thanks, that helps a lot. I just didn't want them assigning me the shop tomorrow when I won't be going there. Then I'd have to cancel the shop and that looks bad.
Got a call today from a scheduler who offered my usual $25 up front. Pleasant surprise not to have to put up with the recent lowball BS. The shop was only $20 online when I looked a few hours earlier.
Sometimes it pays to wait them out. On Friday I made an offer for $4 over the posted fee of $20. It was declined. Yesterday I had a scheduler call and offer me $18, which was the most I had ever gotten in the past for that same location. I declined. Today the same shop was listed at $25. (There was a make an offer option, but I went ahead and assigned it for the posted fee. No sense in being greedy.)

Yeah, I was waiting for it to go to $25 and was not going to bother making an offer. Ridiculous that they only offered you $18 for a $20 shop yesterday. Hopefully now you'll be able to get $25 for future shops there.
My curbside shop from Friday is marked "Invalid." A note says to visit the website to fix the issue. Where do I find the shop? I emailed the helpdesk also.

I've already updated the historical shop fees note I keep on my phone :-)

Did you get this resolved??
Had to bypass a $29 Samantha offer today because I couldn't make it work against my full-time job schedule sad smiley ... biggest Samantha offer I've ever gotten. This is by leaps and bounds the worst 5G location in my area but for $29 I would have toughed it out lol.

Is it worth it to MAO for more than $25? Anyone ever have one accepted?
Sure. I'm sure there are lots of criteria involved to accept high offers...

In fact, the majority of my locations these days are >$30 including one that's >$50.
But have you gotten that amount previously?

Hit or miss on raising the fee on my last highest on MAO. If increasing $1 hasn’t hit for a particular location, try $0.50 increments. Just today, I finally broke the highest fee on one of my locations by submitting a fee $0.50 higher off my all-time high for the location via MAO.

Yes, I was supposed to go inside so QC rejected the shop.

So now you have to go inside for a curbside shop?? Did they agree to pay you?

There are no curbside shops in my area anymore.

Weird, they have gone to MAO in my area on Thursday off a $12 fee offer. Lowest offer I've ever seen accompanied by MAO is $15.
